Al-Qaeda Affiliated Group Claims Al-Mansour Suicide Attack

The Islamic State of Iraq, which al Qaeda in Iraq is part of, claimed responsibility for the suicide attack that targeted U.S. troops in al Mansour area in Baghdad on March 10. "A lion from the Unit of Omar al-Kurdi pushed his way through a large number of US Army troops in al-Mansour area and detonated his suicide belt, killing and wounding dozens of the Crusaders' troops," the statement said. It also claimed that at least 10 soldiers were killed in the attack, contradicting the 5 solder casualty figure announced by the U.S. military. It is common for insurgent groups in Iraq to claim there were more casualties that publicly announced.
