New break in the hunt for missing Indiana University student?

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. -- Police and FBI agents in Indiana have raided the home of a jailed sex offender in connection with the disappearance of an Indiana University student who has been missing for more than four years, reports CBS New York.

Lauren Spierer, of Scarsdale, New York, vanished June 3, 2011, after a night of partying with friends. Spierer, 20, was later seen on surveillance video without her shoes or cell phone and stumbling out of an elevator at her apartment. She was last seen wearing black pants and a white top, according to the station.

Authorities raided a property in Morgan County, Ind., which investigators say belongs to convicted sex offender Justin Wagers.

He's currently behind bars on several felony sex offenses and also linked to three missing persons cases, including Spierer, the station reports.

Crews with WISH-TV in Indianapolis reported seeing agents focused Thursday on a home and barn in the Martinsville area, including sifting through dirt.

Spierer's disappearance in 2011 generated national headlines and Bloomington police say they have received hundreds of tips on the investigation.
