AMHERST, N.Y. (CBS/AP) - Domestic violence... a woman is dead, her husband is charged with murder.

An all-too-familiar scenario -- but what is so unfamiliar, is that this time the alleged murderer is a 90-year-old man.   John Bunz is charged with committing the crime at a retirement community in upstate New York. The victim, say police, is his 89-year-old wife, Virginia.

The suspect is in a Buffalo jail.

Police in Amherst, N.Y. described it as a domestic dispute at the Amberleigh Retirement Community. Assistant Police Chief Tim Green said Virginia Bunz was found dead Sunday morning, but won't say how she died.

Her husband was taken from their apartment for treatment of undisclosed self-inflicted wounds, and was later charged at a local hospital.

John Bunz is due in Amherst Town Court on Thursday, facing second-degree murder.
