5-Year-Old Calls 911: "My Momma Is at Home Dead"

A 5-year-old Ohio boy used a cell phone to call for help after someone fatally shot his mother, saying "my momma is at home dead."

Police responding to the call found 25-year-old Marquita Brown's body in her Dayton apartment around 2 a.m. Friday.

Sgt. Michael Pauley says the boy used the phone after he heard a shot and was not able to wake his mother up.

The boy told the dispatcher "my momma is at home dead." During the call, the dispatcher tried to calm the boy and told him police were coming. The boy could be heard crying at times.

Pauley says the dispatcher stayed on the line until officers arrived.

Police are searching for the woman's boyfriend. They say the boy told them the boyfriend had run out of the apartment. Police found a gun at the scene.
