2 plead guilty in murder of attorney in D.C. hotel room
WASHINGTON - The two women accused in the killing of a Wasington, D.C. attorney in a local hotel pleaded guilty to charges in D.C. Superior Court Thursday, reports CBS affiliate WUSA.
Jamyra Gallmon pleaded guilty to second degree murder while armed in connection to the death of David Messerschmitt, 30, in February. Investigators say she stabbed Messerschmitt inside the Donovan Hotel during a robbery attempt that escalated.
Gallmon's roommate and purported girlfriend Dominique Johnson pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit robbery connected to murder. While she was not present for Messerschmitt's death, she had knowledge about the robbery before it happened and accompanied Gallmon to a CVS store to buy zip ties, according to court documents.
During an interview with police, Gallmon admitted to going to the hotel with the intention to rob Messerschmitt. Gallmon said that while leaving the room, the two of them started fighting and she stabbed Messerschmitt multiple times.
WUSA previously reported that court documents say an investigation found Messerschmitt posted on Craigslist soliciting responses from other men and communicated with an account linked to Gallmon on the day of his death. Police said the communications between the two included Messerschmitt telling Gallmon his location at the Donovan Hotel, reports WUSA.
The two women will be sentenced in connection with the murder on August 14.
