Palin Aide Meghan Stapleton Resigns
Stapleton (shown in the picture at left with McCain campaign spokesperson Edward O'Callaghan in 2008) has worked with Palin since December, 2006. She served as the media's point of contact for Palin, who has managed to maintain a high profile even after cutting short her term as governor of Alaska.
In a statement first provided to Politico, Stapleton said she is resigning to spend more time with her family.
"While it has been an honor to help Gov. Palin and her family over the last few years, I am also honored to have this incredible opportunity to stay home with my precious miracle, Isabella," she said. "[She is] 2 years old, [and] I have missed significant moments in her life, but I look forward with great happiness to celebrating milestones as well as mundane moments with her as I refocus my priorities. I also look forward to seeing my saint of a husband again, too!"
