Lou Dobbs Suggests Senate Run "On My Mind"

(CBS/The Early Show)
Lou Dobbs, who recently resigned from hosting a nightly show on CNN, said in his first interview since his resignation that he is "going to remain in the public arena."

Dobbs was asked by Fox News' Bill O'Reilly if he is considering a Senate run in New Jersey.

"A lot of things are on my mind, I'm not going to be coy about this," Dobbs said, though he neglected to answer the question directly. He went on to say he is "thinking about a lot of opportunities."

O'Reilly then asked Dobbs if President Obama is "the devil." (Yes, you read that right.)

"He's not the devil, but he is certainly a man who is right now not making it easy to understand why he's making the public policy choices that he is," said Dobbs, who left CNN to "carry the banner of advocacy journalism" in a more appropriate venue, in the words of network president Jonathan Klein.

Dobbs went on to question "what is taking so long to come to a decision on Afghanistan," as well as "why it is so necessary to turn over a sixth of the economy to the United States government."

Dobbs agreed with O'Reilly's suggestion that the president is "mismanaging" the country.

At the Baltimore Sun reports, Dobbs said CNN management never complained about his strong views on immigration, long a bone of contention for immigrants' rights groups. He told O'Reilly he "had absolute editorial control."

"The only issue that came up in the last 90 days of my employment there was that Jon Klein and I had talked about the issue of opinion itself and advocacy journalism, and he wanted to take the network in a different direction," he said.

Dobbs also talked about a gunshot fired at his home, which he has suggested resulted from his views on immigration.

The gunshot "followed months and months of threats on the issue of illegal immigration over our phone...and it became a matter of some intensity in the last two or three months preceding that shot," said Dobbs. "And there are those on the far left who say it just didn't happen....Well, here's the conclusive evidence to my thinking and to my wife's, and that is the threats stopped on that very day that that shot was fired."

Riddle me this birthers, if President Obama is so good at forging documents and had enough influence to get the FBI to cover up for him, then what makes you think a long form birth certificate would satisfy you? If you didn't believe the birth certificate he released, why would you believe anything? And therein lies the point. You need him to release more stuff so you can spin more bs.

Buddy Beanbags, You are living with your head up your behind if you think Obama has settle the issue of his citizenship. He has presented NO documentation of ANYTHING he claims.

NO real birth certificate--the one online is a fraud and is not what is necessary to prove anything!!

NO medical records.

NO school records.

NO state senate records

NO law school records--for all we know he may not even be graduate.

NO college records.

The place where he claims to have lived in Hawaii has been the home of another family since long before Obama was born.

The few records that were once available have disappeared.

The guy is a phantom!!

Lou Dobbs is my hero! I have always agreed with his "no nonsense" approach to reporting the news, and his brilliant, intelligent, candid analysis of these events has never been equaled by any of his contemporaries on any station.

I see no further reason to view any further left leaning, liberal trash, which is all that CNN can be expected to pump out following the departure of this brave, patriotic American newscaster. I sure hope that somebody puts him back on the TV waves, for the sake of all of us who dearly miss him.

I would think with the birther nonsense having been thoroughly debunked long ago, anybody delusional enough to still believe that nonsense should be put into a straight jacket and hustled off to the nearest insane asylum to be lobotomized as a danger to themselves and others. It's absolute proof that they're totally disconnected from reality and are mad as hatters in own little wonderland.

Lou Dobbs might make a just fine US Senator. I wonder in which state he would run? He couldn't possibly be any worse than the comedian just elected in Minnisota or the two clowns who have been elected in California

Joe-Dobbs could run in a State of confusion!

Hmmm seems that CNN is perhaps going to start leaning away from commentors and their stupid opionions and rather start reporting the actual news.........maybe.

Lou is upset that he doesn't get to blab his own BIASED thoughts across the airwaves and have it deemed as what is right.

He'll be hooking up with Fox "News" in no time as another supporter of "advocacy journalism" (ie: spouting out crap that they want to complain about whether or not there are any FACTS to back up the BS that the majority of these commentators spout out)

All the news networks are now is "advocacy journalism".........I for one am sick of having to listen to hours on end of people spouting off Biased opionions instead of reporting news in an unbiased way that allows for the general public make up their own opionion.

Lou you can pack your bags with the rest of the lefties and righties on TV and let us voice our own opinions.

As we all watch Palin implode, bashing on McCain's staffers - it's nice to see that someone whom can speak a coherent sentence is considering a run of it... even if he is a racist.

That Dobbs guy has a lot of nerve, suggesting the U.S. has a right to guard its borders, and calling out Democrat and Republican legislators who turn a blind eye to the violation of U.S. borders. Mexico lets in anyone for any reason, including poor Guatemalans looking for work. What's that? It doesn't? It guards its borders zeaolusly? Sorry, didn't know.
Like most Americans, he needs to be more tolerant of people who would not tolerate us for a split second.

Mexico is quite militant in its ANTIImmigration policies..go to the South of Mexico....ugly and militant...like our border...They DONT "let anyone in for any reason".
besides...with the BIPARTISAN merging of SOCIALIST Mexico, SOCIALIST Canada and SOCIALIST United States into a SOCIALIST Constitution-destroying North American Union, all the tough on immigration and/or tough on "fairness" WON'T MATTER...as we will all be assimilated into one socialist conglomeration..with the Amero and RFIDlinked NAU Identity cards...if you think this is preposterous just to a little research.

Dobbs lost all credibility with his rants when he wouldn't let go of his birther BS.

It just proved that when presented with overwhelming facts he can't come up with a logical/rational answer.......I'd take Franken over Dobbs. Dobbs lowered himself to a conspiracy advocating whackjob.

Lou Dobbs makes ignorant outlandish statements such as his blithering "birther" remarks about Obama. He strikes me as a bloated ego-maniac no different than right-wing nut Rush Limbaugh. We don't need anymore overpaid huge egos out there telling us what we should be afraid of and how they're going to fix it.

Once we start realizing that Obama and the leftist are the real nuts in American society the better of we will be as a nation.

One of the nuttiest ego-maniacs on air is Keith Olbermann. He is a cartoon spewing his leftist contempt and hate for others upon us and has no credibility at all. Fortunately, hardly anyone watches him (his ratings are at the bottom), but still he represents the worst of the opinion broadcasters.

Immigrants have been KILLING OUR HEALTHCARE without CONTRIBUTING to the expenses. I want every illegal thrown OUT, and any baby born to an illegal should also be illegal. Why should we have to carry the burden of taking care of these people???

California the Golden state, American future, is fast becoming the poster child for an bankrupt third world State!

An unholy alliance of Socialist Democrat politicians, Unions, and Illegal Aliens supporters are feasting at the trough of tax payers paid benefits while taxing & regulating business and the tax paying public into poverty.

The pandering of Left Wing Democrat Politicians to their constituency of Unions, Illegal Aliens and open border supporters, are driving business and citizens to other states & countries, while leaving the parasites & welfare leeches in an increasing bankrupt, crime ridden, dysfunctional state!

For years California has ignored economics 101 and imported Criminals, Uneducated Peons, and poverty from Mexico, which increased Medical, Welfare, Crime, Prison, etc. & adding a estimated 10 to 16 billion per year to Calif. State expense to support the invading horde of Illegal Aliens while exporting business and educated tax payers.

Like all Socialist countries the results have been a astronomical increase in social welfare, schooling, prison cost etc. and a lowing of Living standards, Education standards, Tax receipts & finally Bankruptcy.

Failure to abide by our Constitution against invasion & enforce our Immigration laws and constraints on wages and benefits for public employees will result in turning the Golden State into MexiCalif and the end of the Calif. Dream and the beginning of the MexiCalif. Nightmare!

The policies of Obama and Wash. DC Democrats are intent on following Calif. policies and Pro-Illegal Aliens and Anti-tax paying citizens and are endorsing the same socialist process of rewarding the Corrupt, Stupid, Foolish, Greedy & Criminal while punishing the responsible, honest, & law abiding citizens of American.

Amnesty & Citizenship as a reward for their invasion of the USA, will result in the rest of the USA turned into a Spanish speaking third world cesspool and follow California into a polluted, over populated, Spanish speaking, third world Nation of Crime, Corruption, Poverty, Cruelly & Misery modeled on Mexico!

This will result in a population depending on Welfare and the Democrat party, thus assuring the lock on power for the Socialist Democrat party of the United States of Mexico!

BTW, lest I be branded sexist, as a female whose Quaker ancestors also compromised their principles to fight in the American Revolution, I'm not ignoring the contributions women made to American independence. Without women like Abigail Adams, Molly Pitcher, Patience Wright, etc., without whom the revolution would likely have been unsuccessful. http://score.rims.k12.ca.us/score_lessons/women_american_revolution/

However, historical reality demands that we acknowledge that it took longer for the men in American political power to recognize women's rights to citizenship than for men of color. It was white men who hammered out the Constitution. And despite the fact that they refused rights to large segments of the population, the system they initiated, and the principles there espoused, eventually upheld those rights--and responsibilities--for all adult citizens.

I would vote for him in a second. He is one of the few that get it. Put the welfare of America not just first, but second and third as well. It's not about helping others, it is about winning and keeping and gaining power and resources.
The middle class in America should be the top and only priority, not the poor in China or Mexico, not peace in Palestine and Israel, it is about the standard of living of the American middle class.

Wow. Do you ever go back and re-read your own comments. Is this Happy Bunny? Cuz its all about YOU. No one else matters? Its all about winning - so how you play the game means nothing? You...you...you...you...you. I'm sad for you.

please I don't need or want your sympathy, bleeding hearts like you turn my stomache anyway. I have actually weathered this downturn quite well, it is the friends that have lost their jobs or taken massive pay cuts after doing everything that was asked of them that makes me angry. And why did they lose their jobs or take pay cuts? So large corps can make larger profits and american prosperity can be given to others who did nothing to earn it.
Do you ever think that the standard of living was never better then under Reagan and then Clinton because of the Reagan policies? Do you know why the wealth of america grew so quickly? It was because of the Reagan attitude that he was going to look out for number 1, and the attitude of we win they lose.
Also let me know why i should be willing to work the same or more and have less disposable income. Why should I support cap and trade when it will put american workers at an even larger disadvantage and take more mney out of my paycheck to give to developing and poor nations. What have they ever done for us?
