Carrie Prejean to Sex Tape Critics: "Christians Aren't Perfect"

(ABC)
NEW YORK (CBS/AP) Miss Congeniality was nowhere to be found when dethroned beauty queen Carrie Prejean turned up on "The View" and talked about... the sex tape. Yes, that sex tape.

"But Miss Prejean, you made the tape, you have [topless] photos of yourself, you didn't go along with the morals clause which is in the pageant's rules, and yet you say you're a victim — I don't totally buy it!"

Those were the doubting words of Joy Behar to Prejean on the daytime talkfest's Tuesday episode.

The claws were out as the former Miss California USA tried to explain her x-rated solo sex tape to the women of "The View."

"I take full responsibility for this tape that is out," Prejean said.

"I was young, I was immature, I trusted my boyfriend at the time. Never in my wildest dreams did I think that it would actually be coming out. Not saying that would be ok."

Prejean said that foes are trying to "embarrass" and "humiliate" her because of her opposition to same-sex marriage.

But Whoopi Goldberg asked the West Coast model if she was a Christian when she recorded the nude skinflick at the age of 17.

"I am simply saying that if you have presented yourself...[that you] can make edicts about others' way of life... are you surprised that you are getting the same sort of backlash?," Goldberg asked.

Prejean said that her faith has "progressed throughout the years," and that "Christians aren't perfect."

Behar asked why the young beauty would make a nude tape by herself. "I am just curious," Behar said.

"It was a personal thing, and I never said that I was perfect. Nothing is private anymore," Prejean replied.

Barbara Walters began the segment by asking Prejean if all the negative reaction to her was truly because of her opposition to same-sex marriage.

"You said that...that you have been called a bitch, a bigot, a Nazi, and your life has been threatened, and you no longer have a job...all of this, do you think happened, because you expressed that opinion?"

"Absolutely," Prejean responded.

Walters continued, "There was a morals clause in your contract... could it be possibly that you were let go not because of that remark (against gay marriage), but because of some of these other things?"

"I don’t think so," said Prejean.

The X-rated video's existence was revealed during a negotiating session with pageant officials.

The two sides had come together over a lawsuit Prejean filed against the Miss California organization for stripping her of her crown earlier this year. Prejean settled her suit with the pageant after knowledge of the nude film's existence was put forth, and was reportedly paid $100,000 to go toward her legal fees, according to the "Today" Show.

Prejean was fired in June. Pageant organizers said she was skipping official events.

In August, Prejean sued Miss California USA organizers for libel, slander and religious discrimination. She accused them of telling her to stop mentioning God, even before she made controversial remarks against gay marriage.

The pageant countersued Prejean last month, claiming the buxom blonde still owed them $5,200 for the breast implants they helped her buy.

Now both sides' lawsuits have disappeared, as the sex tape surfaced.

Just as an addendum to my previous comment surrounding Carrie Prejean as a viable and accepted commentator on gay marriage, I have mentioned in another commentary that I myself would never interfere with any legislation promoting gay marriage. I also stated that I would not march or be an activist. The subject in no way is objectionable me but there are extenuating circumstances to study which I do not know if Carrie touched on. Of concern is this and I think you cannot be simplistic and just blurt out denial or acceptance on gay marriage. If legalized partners emerge governmental entitlements such as health care and social security might be impacted as well as private health providers. I am all for studying this matter in a comprehensive matter which will help everybody. Humbly, Carrie Prejean could be thinking about settling down with some wealthy industrialist, she looks stressed.

How is it that in the 21 Century we no longer have hugely gifted and genetically blessed talented performers like Nat King Cole, Judy Garland and Humphrey Bogart and one of my favorites Rosemary Clooney. I do not watch anything on my HDTV save the music shows and clips and domestic and international news. When I go into the living room my family is affixed to their chairs mesmerized by Ms. Prejean and a bunch of zaftig women name of Kardashians. What do these people really do besides talk up storm? In my generation you had to be really talented to be in the public eye, today it is personality plus and your in. For me Carrie Prejean is a seasoned business person just like most models are. It is the modeling business, is it not. It is her call but after I once had a plastic surgery nightmare trying to have a small knot on my forehead sliced off that I hated I could have advised her that not all men are obsessed with huge ponderous breasts and there are conceivable risks as well. Finally I would never listen to any comments she makes about gays getting married, the media is building up her credibility to make such statements.

Exactly. Christians are not perfect. They also don't have a monopoly on morality, nor do they have the right to tell everyone else who to love, what to do, with whom they should do it, or whether or not they should carry a fetus to term.

Too bad these clowns use this excuse every time they screw up, but the rest of the time try to assert how perfect they are as they attempt to take control of the lives of others. Cut the crap, and leave other people alone!

"She admits that what she did was wrong." Only when caught. Just wait until the lesbian sex tape comes out.

When Carrie Prejean holds her head at the correct angle in a breeze, dogs begin to howl for miles......
She actually makes Moose Gal and Shrub look somewhat intelligent by comparison.....perhaps if she stopped talking for a awhile, people might concentrate on her bod and forget what a pinheaded nitwit she is.............................probably not....

Hey, we're not holding you to higher standards than we're holding ourselves dear. But then we haven't made sex tapes or posed nude while condeming the immorality or sexual orientation of others either.

Those who call Carrie a homophobe are themselves a Christophobe.

There's nothing hypocritical about Carrie. She admits that what she did was wrong. The hypocrites are those who crucify her for what she did wrong but then crucify her AGAIN when she -- RIGHTFULLY -- says that homosexual sex is wrong.

When they took away her Miss California title, they should have given her the Miss Hypocrisy title.

If the means are what justify the ends concerning anything. Are not the true intended ends revealed by its associated means? I mean if we love ourselves more so than our enemies for example, as has been clearly demonstrated throughout this decade, it simply can't be Christ that becomes the object of our ends. If we are busy subjecting our sexual nature to others or thereby forcing the temptation of sin into the minds of others for fast materialistic bucks, our intended ends can't be encompassed by one who claimed that by gaining the world we lose our souls, nor one who taught that if a man merely thinks of a woman in a sexual manner he has already sinned. No, this isn't merely a matter of imperfection, it is a matter of perfectly indulging in the worship of thyself. The source of evil is neither religion nor money, God nor materialism, rather the constant use of each by most of us in order to achieve our own subjective ends.

If she can be a Christian and make a sex tape, we need a new definition of Christian. I thought it meant "an imitator of Christ." It never occurred to me that it could mean, "a person who adopts a self-identity referred to as 'Christian'."

"Christians Aren't Perfect"

No, but they sure seem hypocritical when they do sex tapes and then try to act all holier than thou. And force their on the surface morals on people when they actually have none.

You Mrs. Prejean are a HYPOCRITE.

"Christians Aren't Perfect"?

Then why is it, pray tell, that once a "Christian" becomes a mouthpiece or a politician for the GOP, they expect everybody else to live up to the religious tenets that they publicly espouse?

Or else?

Carrie Prejean and Sarah Palin are the same gender couple Bonnie-and-Clyde of our current social and political era. Joined together in their common Conservative passions they are simultaneously marauding across the countryside with great publicity and fanfare as they pillage truth and rob the ethical banks of nation. Their heated common bonds forged by desire for glittering attention blind them to the destruction they wreak as media elevate them to near folk hero status by the reports given. Their reckless sense of invincibility and arrogant pride pays off big at the moment with the riches they grab on the run, but will this couple, embracing the sins of their passionate ambitions be able to prosper with their sociopolitical illusions in tact, or will justice some day befall them with a harsh and swift ambush of truth? Time will tell.

Does anyone know or remember the story of Peter in the Bible? Read Matthew 26:31-35, Matthew 26:69-75 and then read John Chapter 21. Peter LIED, he denied Jesus 3 times and Jesus prophesied that he was going to do it BEFORE he did. Peter showed no remorse until he was "caught" in the lie (when the rooster crowed 3 times). Yet this is the same man that Jesus said He would build His church on (Matthew Chapter 16). This is the man that was crucified upside down because he didn't deserve to be crucified the same way his Lord was killed. Jesus knew Peters heart, Jesus knows Carries heart. It is up to HIM to decide whether she is a christian or not.
