Biden Welcomes Son's Guard Unit Home From Iraq

(AP)
Vice President Joe Biden Wednesday welcomed home from Iraq 110 National Guard soldiers – including his son, Delaware Attorney General and Army National Guard Captain Beau Biden.

Biden was joined in Dover by about 800 Delaware residents welcoming home the 261st Signal Brigade, the News Journal reports.

The vice president noted in his remarks that he had been to Afghanistan and Iraq several times in the past year, saying he "got to see our beloved son three times."

Biden, who spoke for about 10 minutes, was joined by his wife Jill and Delaware Governor Jack Markell at the ceremony.

Beau Biden served in Iraq as a lawyer with the Judge Advocate General’s office. There is speculation that in 2010 the younger Biden will run for the Senate seat previously held by his father.

That seat is now held by Biden loyalist Ted Kaufman, who was appointed to the seat after Joe Biden became vice president. Kaufman has said he will not run for a full term in 2010.

Mr Biden,
We in DE welcome you back. VP Bidne thank you for coming and supporting the real heros in an otherwise unfriendly world.

Did Cheney ever welcome any troops home?

Sarah Palin's son should be back soon (if he hasn't already)who welcomed him back? Mom too busy globetrotting and peddling her book?

First, before you start pointing fingers at Politicians for not being there to welcome troops home you should pay more attention to what REALLY goes on. There are many troops that deploy around the world with each Military Service, but do we see our P or VP at each and every one of these ceremonies!?... The answer to that is NO... Just this summer another unit was deploying but VP Biden was not there in attendance on that one.

Why don't we instead of Focusing on VP Biden Welcoming his son home; we re-focus our thoughts and engery in welcoming ALL 115 Soldiers from the 261st TTSB. You find many articles that lead with VP Biden brings son home, but how about the remaining 114 families that are bringing; sons, daughters, husbands, and wives home. In doing this you are taking away a lot of the Thunder and happines from the ENTIRE unit. They didn't deploy under the command of Cpt. Biden. They deployed under the command of Gen. Scott Chambers.

Before standing and saying your so proud of Biden, sit back and think how the rest of the families feel. We are all so proud to individually welcome home our family members. It has been a very long year, but with much enduring we were able to embrace our loved ones once again.

Thank you to all Men and Women whom Proudly Serve in our Armed Forces, no matter which Branch.

That's terribly convenient....put your buddy in your office with the promise that he won't run during the next election. Then your son comes home a "war hero" and claims "daddy's spot" in the 2010 election. Why in the world do we let our politicians get away with stuff like this? Since they make the rules, guess they can do whatever they want.
