Group Runs Facebook Ad Asking Palin to "Stop Lying"

(Facebook)
Former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin set off a frenzied debate about health care reform when she accused President Obama of planning to establish "death panels" via health care reform. Now, proponents of the president's health care agenda are taking to Palin's preferred medium to attack her claims, with a Facebook ad asking Palin to "stop lying."

The labor-affiliated group Americans United For Change is running the Facebook ad directly targeted at the more than 800,000 listed "supporters" of Palin on Facebook, according to Greg Sargent of the Washington Post blog the Plum Line.

"Health insurance reform is too important for outright lies," the ad says. "Send Sarah Palin a message; tell her to stop lying about 'death panels.'"

The ad reportedly directs people to a page on the Americans United for Change Web site with a submission form to send a letter to Palin. The page also includes a video indicating that the "real" death panels are insurance companies that deny customer claims for important treatments.

"If we don’t confront the outright lies and liars as we did in 2008 then we allow the health insurance industry and their Republican supporters to swift boat health care reform," the page reads.

The ad attacks Palin on the ground on which she appears to be most comfortable. Without a political office or any other platform from which to express her views, Palin has aggressively used Facebook to keep up her high profile, most recently with notes on the social networking site about health care reform.

It has yet to be seen whether rebutting Palin's false "death panel" claims on Facebook proves any more effective than doing so through traditional media. As the Washington Post points out, the persistence of the death panel rumor is "a stunning illustration of the traditional media's impotence."

Dems on the message boards are the meanest, most hateful group of people and they talk about how others are. They don't know this woman and there is no reason to be so mean. She certainly isn't dumb or she would not be attacked non-stop. Why does she scare people. Why not ignore her. She is not the one with the power. The Democrats have special interest to 'write the bills'. Then the the bill is too big to for them to read and understand. If they did read it they would need a lawyer to explain it (by their own admission)..... and you call this women is dumb.... Have you guys read it? You might change your mind. READ THE BILL. Understand what is in it and what is not. What is not is just as bad as what is. It can be added without you knowing it. Stop bashing other Americans and work together. Lets understand the cost. PLEASE STOP ALL THE SPENDING WASHINGTON.

The Union is promised money, tax payer money, to help pay for health care. They are 'one' of the Special Interest Groups and it is not fair for them to get billions while companies are being punished with higher rates that will move their employees to public options. OBAMA needs to get the special interest out and start over with the people in mind, ALL of the people. Instead his interest is illegals, AARP, Union and other special interest. They run lies and claim the millions of regular citizen (the majority) are the special interest. America can read the bills whether the Congress can or not. It appears this has came as a surprise to the White House and Congress.

Get off the crack pipe please!!! I beg of you it is most un-becoming.
Delusional rants are thing of the past! ;) You really believe that G.W. went to war without everyone?s? approval Then you must surely oppose the new Pres because he has sent troops to Afghanistan and started a new campaign of death and destruction. Why? You might ask. So he can be like bush of course. Because he knows Bush will go down in history as a liberator of millions, hence Obama's attempt to start Obama care. He believes in his warped mind this would immortalize him also. More deaths in Afghanistan in a single day than any day of the Iraq war yet nothing from the media. Open your eyes please this goes way beyond your stupid pathetic political parties.

Death Panels is a tough term, but there will be a time when treatment is denied. Let's do the simple math for the libs. We have healthcare that costs too much money. Medicare is bankrupt. The solution is to take all our healthcare money, place it in a fund, add 45 million more people who will pay no money then add the BIG Unions and magic... all will be well... You libs have low self esteem. You want to be nice and have everyone think you are a nice person... You know deep down you suck and hate Sarah because she does not need your approval. Obama has you so love sick that you think that math is correct.

The truth about Sarah Palin's website is:
1- if you log into the site and try to correct anything you will be attacked vigorously and personally. Be prepared for personal attacks.
2- If you persist and attempt to correct an inaccuracy you will be engaged privately on the side by a smooth talker and diverted until your post moves off the current post list.
3- The number of inaccuracies is simply astounding and I estimate >50% and about things I know .. ie medicine... etc.
4- The quotes generated by other inaccurate websites are persistent.
5- People with no credentials, bad grammar, & zero logic are abundant. Such as truck drivers commenting on medical matters they could not possibly know, and they are wrong.

Conclusion: it's impossible to go on the "Palin euphoria" website(s) and engage them at any level. I would characterize them as unteachable, prejudiced, and so defensive they will say anything to win the first round of this "conspiracy" argument. I tried to be reasonable. They are not reasonable.
sincerely a local MD in North Carolina.

All I can say is that Dems remind me of schoolyard bullies. They like to pick on people and try to impose their will by demeaning, attacking, bullying people. When they are attacked they run scared because they can't believe that someone defied them. Thats been their reaction to Palin, Town Halls etc. Hypocrites to the Nth degree who have protested, destroyed property, and demeaned people to move their agenda but when their oppostion fights back they get real mean and angry. A sorrier group of people I have never seen.

The only liars are the chimps who haven't read all of the bills, and who still call Palin a liar.

For God's sake, wake up! Your whining, mischaracterizations, and threats against moderate and conservative Democrats, ALL Republicans, ALL Independents, and ALL Libertarians, buy you simple-minded hypocritical racists nothing but opposition. Why would I want to strike a conciliatory position, and work out a mutually-acceptable compromise.

You've shown that you cannot be trusted, and are prepared to use force to get your way.

Sarah Palin's dust bunniest are brighter and have more integrity than the combination of Obamacare, crap and slave, and dark green initiative proponents, combined.

Palin: supporter of the "Raw Deal". Americans pay at least double for healthcare than any other country and get inferior care. Plain: A liar comparable to Bush.

Wow! I just did a lot of reading. I read every post on here and what I found was amazing. It would appear that the republicans have done an excellent job of dis-informing the public. They have managed to convince the public that it is in their best interest to back the insurance industry and to let them continue to reap profits that would make a king happy. Million dollar bonuses to CEOs while denying care to millions of people. Death panels to weed out the elderly. It really is mind blowing. So once again the republicans will prevail and big business will be protected at the expense of the fast disappearing middle class. And they have managed to convince the public that it is the democrats who are to blame for the quickly disappearing jobs in America. Of course no one even mentions that it is the big corporations who are shipping jobs overseas to take advantage of cheap labor and no environmental laws. So let's just leave things as they are even though we know they aren't working. As long as big business is healthy who cares if YOU are. It's about time that we all realize that we do not matter one whit to the powers that be. We are nothing but sheep to be hearded in what ever direction the wealthy desire. It is and has always been money and power that matter and if you don't have them you are just fooling yourself if you really believe you matter. Best advice...look out for yourself and your family as best you can and forget about what the politicians tell you. Instead of screaming at your neighbor, hug your wife and kids. Remember that your stay here on Earth is short, very short. Concentrate on the things that you have some control over and stop reacting to the lies and half truths that come from those who are trying to manipulate you.

What is it with people listening to Sarah Panel? She's NUTS everything that comes out of her mouth is a lie.Why is it that no one is speaking about the bill she set up in her state of Alaska which had its own day.
Want to know what it is about LIVING WILLS AND END OF LIFE. I really believe this sad sort of a human being wants a war here in the great US.
We need health care and there is nothing about dealth panels in there. US will not kill anyone to save money But believe me Sarah Palin and her party will allow the insurance co. to kick people out of hospitals, not give approval for test and allow people with a illness to suffer without.Just listen to some of the things that come out of her mouth WAKE UP PEOPLE AND THINK use you mind. She could not even tell the truth about her own health care saying when she first got married her and Told did not have healthcare and they were fine. Her own husband had to correct that statement by telling a reporter they did have it. She told the reporter that thats not real health care. LIES LIES and more LIES from her mouth.

You might have a point against Palin, but I am not sure what it would be. I noticed the US Senate aqreed with Palin on the 'Death Panel' thing and removed it from their version of the Health Care Reform bill. I was curious, so I took a look at HR 3200 (pages 425-430) and I may have to agree with Palin and all the other folks that have discovered what is in there. Obama's folks have also put 'death panels' into the Verteran's Administration with the 'Your Life, Your Choices' book. Congress is really feeling the pinch and is thinking of banning the book. Go figure.

The government currently insures payment to doctors and hospitals through the Medicare program, which is the highest rated in terms of patient satisfaction so stop knocking it. Their fraud and administrative costs are in the 6% range because they have no profit motive. Contrast that with private insurers who are in the 15% range. The difference is what we, the consumers can see as built-in waste. Why should we pay it? For corporate profits? I call BS !!! Make them compete like everyone else in business in America. Lets end the insurance monopoly NOW.

Just had a friend diagnosed with cancer. She was fired from her job within hours of that diagnosis. Her employer: Blue Cross/Blue Shield. Where will she get insurance now?
Have conversed with a number of people whose prescriptions, submitted by professional physicians, have been rejected on non-medical grounds. Others have had theirs delayed, which means medical treatment was delayed for diabetes, hypertension and dementia. These are insurance company decisions based upon profitability, not medicine.

Ask yourself these questions when you support the insurance companies (and they are not mine): What tests are conducted by the insurance companies? What treatment is provided by the insurance companies? Do the insurance companies provide a single x-ray, MRI or "oscopy?" Is it even necessary that an insurance company numbers cruncher have a medical degree? Isn't it true that the insurance company's role is to provide the financing for medical treatment? And take 30% off the top for doing it? While Medicare takes 4%? One last question: who is being taken for a sucker?

------

I've noticed the most recent approach of the Republican spinners is to try to sound honest and truthful in a more testimonial style while still trying to instill fear, anger and resentment. No matter how it is done, that approach is still fear mongering. We have had enough of it. Stop it.
