Taliban In Secret Talks With U.S., Afghanistan

Some Taliban leaders are initiating third-party talks that could lay the groundwork for progress between the U.S. and Afghan governments and the Taliban insurgents. In the video below, Charles Sennott of international news site GlobalPost.com reports on how moderate Taliban leaders are engaged in shuttle negotiations, and have been in contact with Mullah Mohammad Omar, the spiritual leader of the Taliban.

An agreement would call for a halt of Taliban attacks on schools and on those engaged in reconstruction projects, and the Afghan government would agree to release detainees and halt U.S. military attacks on civilians. Watch the video:

Never forget- the jihad- or the struggle to be the perfect muslim consists of two things. 1: Kill all jews 2: Convert, enslave, or kill, EVERYONE ELSE. This truce talk is only to slow us down long enough for them to restock and clean their guns. Nothing else.

This is the kind of caveman anti-logic that's been around for over a thousand years.

How's that been working out?

ONLY if they give up details of al-Qaeda operations, and the wereabouts of Osama bin ladin. Had they done this after 9/11, they'd be in a better negotiating position.

If they had done that, they would still be running Afganistan and we wouldn't be there.

Too bad they didn't.

Kabul should negotiate with the Opposition. Some of the groups may choose a truce. Those who prefer to fight could be located and apprehended with sophisticated satellite-based technology.

You folks don't know when 'they' want something secret exposed to the whole world??? That stuff has been going on since man learned to speak. Trust me, the truly secret stuff you really know nothing about. It's these semi-secret secrets that the whole world hears about. It's called propaganda.

It could FINALLY be the official admission that,

directly, The Taliban had NOTHING to do with 9/11.

Would we sit down in "secret" meetings with Osama?

That sound is the Right's galoons
dropping on the deck.

The Taliban having nothing to do with 9/11 strips
Bush totally naked of any "truth" he'd fashioned
to embark upon his great oil crusade.

(A naked George Bush should'nt be inflicted upon the
eyesight of any human being,,,or even a goodly number of
the lower-than-average-human-being's animal forms.)

ANY negotiation with the Taliban is an admission,,,,,

not sure just yet what kind of an admission,,,

,,,,outside of the admission that we probably
discovered that in the Afghan mountains we cant
run through them like a Toro through
your dandylions.

Now I wonder why these guys would want to negotiate at this time? Sounds to me like they are taking a beating, already have or are developing a poor local image and are trying to salvage the situation by helping to "bring peace to the region". At least the last one would be a noble goal, IF I thought they would stick to an agreement.
And by the way, there would be a good deal fewer civilian casualties in any conflict if one side would quit using civilians as shields. I wonder who fits that description?
I would not trust these guys as far as I could throw them.

If these are "Secret talks" why is it splashed on the front page of CBS? Talk about a no brainer.

This is why you always should be open to talking - even to your enemies, even to those you think are the worst of the worst. Sometimes, with enough talk, you can get somewhere.

Like Aushwitz, Buckenwald, Poland 1939. Action speaks louder than words. MAKE than change their habits by demanding they quit attacking innocent people and we will not destroy them.
As Reagan said "trust but verify".
by babooph June 19, 2009 8:31 PM EDT
Being that the US never was supposed to run the place,& we dealt with them prior to attacking them-lets make a deal & go home -we cannot afford one more military casualty ,or dollar for this folly.

one of the agreements would include "US, stop attacking civilians and breaking into homes".... It confirms that "Angel of Peace" has stooped to so low level. Now killing and maiming people is the tool in order to achieve the satan interests and goals... After all, the angel is a wolf in sheep skin sometimes called Terrorist.

Hey Mystie,

Had those Islamic savages al-Qaeda and their Taliban allies not attached the USA, the US Military would not be in Afghanistan. Get your head out of your muzzie @ss and place the blame where it rightfully belongs.
