Sotomayor Has Slight Ankle Fracture

The White House this morning announced that Supreme Court nominee Sonia Sotomayor fractured her ankle after tripping at New York's LaGuardia Airport on her way to Washington this morning.

However, the injury does not appear to be serious, as she has already been released from a hospital in Washington and the the White House was clear to point out she is keeping her full schedule of meetings with senators today.

Here is the full statement from Ben LaBolt, a White House spokesman:


This morning, on the way to Washington, D.C., Judge Sotomayor tripped at LaGuardia Airport. After an x-ray at Medical Faculty Associates, it was determined that Judge Sotomayor has a small fracture in her right ankle. She has been treated and released, and is looking forward to keeping her full schedule of meetings on Capitol Hill this afternoon.


Update 3:46 p.m. ET: We now have picture of Sotomayor making the rounds on Capital Hill. Here she is with Republican Sen. Chuck Grassley from Iowa:

I wonder if her Dr. was a Latino woman or a white male? I hope it wasn't a white male because he wouldn't know how to empathize.

I think the hysterical right-wing has just about used up any credibility that they ever had and are now nothing but a huge joke. A bunch of snotty-nosed brats pointing fingers and tattling on each other. It is really painful to watch.

Don't forget, the political pendulum swings back and forth between the left and right. Just because it is currently on the left doesn't mean it will stay there. The right isn't going to lay down and play dead. Don't get too excited, but do go ahead and hold your breath anyway.

Couldn't they manage a wheel chair for her?

Her unwillingness to speak to the press was great, a nice dirty glance said enough! That would have gotten Sarah Palin a SNL skit, prime time redicule on the evening news, vicious attacks in editorials.

Former first lady Laura Bush says she's pleased that President Barack Obama nominated a woman for the Supreme Court.

"I think she sounds like a very interesting and good nominee," Bush said of Sonia Sotomayor, the federal appeals judge Obama picked.

I made a comment last week in a Sotomayor article that meeting these senators was an unnecessary waste of time, because they get 'bios' and 'briefs' from staff, lobbyists, and the public!

Now, if they had listened to me and heeded what I said about
this, she wouldn't be rushing around to catch a plane, and she wouldn't have hurt her ankle!

Hey, I hate to be a 'know-it-all' in this case, but I'm right!

IF she didn't have to do this stupid, arcane ritual of meeting these institutionalized crooks, then she wouldn't have gotten hurt!
