Laura Bush Discusses Husband’s Low Profile

(AP Photo/Matt Slocum)
Former president George W. Bush has had little to say publicly about the new president and administration since he exited the White House. On ABC's "Good Morning America" today, former first lady Laura Bush discussed her husband’s decision to lay low.

Echoing an earlier comment from George W. Bush, Laura Bush said her husband feels he "owes President Obama his silence" on issues.

"There's no reason to second-guess any decision [Obama] makes," said Laura Bush.

The former first lady also commended Mr. Obama's nomination of Sonia Sotomayor to the Supreme Court, stating that she "sounds like a winner and a good nominee."

"As a woman, I'm proud that there might be another woman on the court," Bush said. "I wish her well."

Unlike Mr. Bush, former vice president Dick Cheney has been harshly critical of the new administration. Laura Bush suggested Cheney's knowledge and experience drives him to challenge the president's agenda.

"I think [Cheney] feels obligated," Bush told ABC. "These are issues that are really important to him, and he knows a lot about them. So you know, I understand why he wants to speak out."

Bush also defended her husband's national security policies, saying the ends justified the means.

"It's easy to look back and say, 'We should have done this' or 'We should have done that,'” she said. "But, in fact, we are safe, and we didn't have another attack. And I think that's important."

Note- Where it says...' But, on the of silence' should read...
But, on the issue of silence...

Sorry for the error, my corrections on my end are not being recorded at CBS's end for some reason or another! Maybe the intel services can't process them fast
enough, huh?!

After the destruction he's waged on the United States, his relative silence following his retirement, is the best AND
brightest thing he has EVER done for the country!

It's just too bad that's ALL he could achieve and the only
time he could do it!

But, on the of silence, he's showing himself to be a lot
smarter than Mr. Cheney, who continually 'shoots himself
and the GOP in the feet' with his outlandish comments!

Announcing that Bush is keeping a "low profile"
is meant to accomplish what?

That he's a kinetic intellectual force keeping
from us his reservoir of insightful penetration
till such a later date that we may better
appreciate it,,?

Or just so we realize that he's graciously holding
back his-alone-power to totally destroy
Obama and the democratics should
he choose not to remain
low profile,,?,,,

Discussing anything with Laura Bush must be an
exhilarating pastime and especially so when Madam
Laura is reading the inter-cranial messages
emanating from her newborn spouse who's very life is
composed of living his interpretations of messages
personally passed onto him through his actual
conversations with the man above.

That said, I think GW and Laura have been class acts after leaving the White House. Kudos to Mrs. Bush for congratulating President Obama on his SC nominee.
Indeed, she is a,"winner", Mrs. Bush.

GW always did just as he was told too. With Richard Cheney out mucking up the TV airwaves and lecture dates we can see that nothing has changed.

Well When George W. Bush Jacked UP Everything, Everything, Everything and Everything under the sun and drove the Republican Party into the Dumps & most Republicans that are currently in office want NOTHING to do with GWB. The list is so long on with things that GWB Jacked up it's a waste of time to even try to start to list them.

Good Ridance George W. Bush.

Why would Bush speak out? The GOP already has perfect representatives talking for them: Cheney and Rush.
