Obama's Final Four Revisited

Now that the NCAA Men’s basketball tournament final four is set, we thought we'd take a look at how President Obama has fared. As you might recall, Mr. Obama filled out a bracket for the tournament with ESPN's Andy Katz.

Mr. Obama's final four picks were North Carolina, Louisville, Pittsburgh and Memphis. Now that the games have been played, we know he only got one of those right. North Carolina made it - but they will be joined by Michigan St., Villanova and Connecticut.

(ESPN)

Mr. Obama got 19 of 32 games right in the first round, or just about 60 percent. His record in the second round improved, as he had 14 out of 16 Sweet 16 teams correct (87.5 percent).

But his percentage dipped again after that, as he got just five of the eight Elite 8 right (62.5 percent). Overall, he's predicted 65 percent of the winners correctly. Probably not enough to win your pool, though it’s fair to say he does have some other things on his mind.

Mr. Obama should at least find some solace in the fact that the one team he has left is his pick to be the overall champion – North Carolina.

Mr. Obama told Katz that he chose North Carolina because of their "experience and balance."

He also had a personal message for his team: "Now, for the Tar Heels who are watching, I picked you all last year -- you let me down. This year, don't embarrass me in front of the nation, all right? I'm counting on you. I still got those sneakers you guys gave me."

But don't think Mr. Obama will have a chance to deliver a new pep talk before UNC takes to the hardwood this Saturday night versus Villanova in Detroit for a CBS-televised battle (or watch online here). The president may not even get a chance to watch as he'll still be on his trip to Europe and Turkey.

I'm happy that President Obama is aware that March Madness isn't just one of the 12 months of politics.

All of our presidents have lived with a lot of stress... some handle it better. Some chase girls (noval idea), some cut brush, some go sailing. president obama unwinds with sports.

I find him refreshing!

You people are confused. This is not Bush - this president can actually walk and chew gum. He can multitask - I can undestand why repugs would think that a president could not - especially after Bush.

Obam IS focused on the economy and a million other things - there is no doub of that!

Obama should be allowed to take 5 minutes out of his time to encourage the MILLIONS of college students in the country by letting them know that you shouldnt curl up in the fetal positon and cry - that you are allowed to be excited about the awesome and uniquely AMERICAN tradition like March Madness.

Most of us in this country are not embittered losers who have nothing but hate to spew- many of us - about 65% of the country - love this president and we are so glad we dont have to contend with McCaint and Failin Palin.

I will certainly agree on one point here ... why is this even news? Who really cares what basketball team the President thinks will win what? I think there are much more important things happening in this country than a stupid basketball tourney.

Who gives a hoot what his basketball thoughts are? This is not relevant to anything. Maybe he should concentrate a little more on the lives of the Americans he is supposed to be leading...and providing his much highlighted "change," for. What a travesty this nation has committed.
