Obama Pushes Two State Solution For Israel and Palestinians

(CBS)
Following recent violence in the Middle East, peace between Israel and the Palestinians is “not easier than it was, but I think it's just as necessary,” President Obama said at his news conference Tuesday evening.

“We don't yet know what the Israeli government is going to look like, and we don't yet know what the future shape of Palestinian leadership is going to be comprised of,” the president said. “What we do know is this: that the status quo is unsustainable, that it is critical for us to advance a two-state solution where Israelis and Palestinians can live side by side in their own states with peace and security.”

He said that by assigning George Mitchell as the special envoy to the region the White House has “signaled” they are “serious” about enforcing the peace.

President Obama compared the conflict to one now largely resolved between Catholics and Protestants in Northern Ireland.

“How effective these negotiations may be, I think we're going to have to wait and see. But, you know, we -- we were here for St. Patrick's Day, and you'll recall that we had what had been previously sworn enemies celebrating here in this very room,” he explained.

“If you are persistent, then -- then these problems can be dealt with,” Obama said, closing his press conference on a positive note.

“That whole philosophy of persistence, by the way, is one that I'm going to be emphasizing again and again in the months and years to come as long as I'm in this office. I'm a big believer in persistence,” he said, tying together his plans for the economy, his budget, Iran, lobbyists and the Middle East.

Stop acting so entitled. So everyone is supposed to just let you do whatever you want cuz some spook in outer space told your people thousands of years ago something about that land being yours? Get over your self, no one is that special and acting as such makes you no better than the Nazis. I'm glad Obama is pushing for this and is also pushing back financial aid. Let them fight their own fraking war, we have our own to take care of here. Theres no point anyway, that whole place is going to be underwater in a few years due to global warming. I guess Obama figured we should just cut our losses. So much for the promise land, I guess you didn't pray enough.

How quickly we want to forget. ALL of GAZA given back. The P. could have had a haven for themselves, but no, they turned it into a TERRORIST center, sehlling IS. EVERYDAY, etc...... It is not in anyone's interest to have another TERRORIST STATE created on the WEST BANK or anywhere.

OBAMA IS THE GREATEST...... he smacked bibi around and now bibi is talking peace, the israelis are in shock they thought they could terrorize palestinians forever and have the media to afraid to cover it, those days are over and americans see israel as a albatross around our neck.......if obama was president 10 years ago their would have been no 9/11, because he would have forced israel to be peaceful and act humane towards palestinians. KEEP SMACKING THESE ANIMALS AROUND, THEY KNOW WHOS BOSS OBAMA, THE AMERICAN PEOPLE ARE BEHIND YOU

This is the war that will never NEVER end.
It doesn?t matter what has been negotiated, the Palestinians will never NEVER accept any concessions or agreements offered and carried out by Israel.

The entire WORLD agrees to allow there to be a recognized Palestinian State. But, it has been the Palestinian obstruction to their own economic viability and growth by depending on donations to maintain a conflict against the people of Israel.

This is the war that will never NEVER end as long as there is continued monetary $upport to have Palestinians maintain the conflict and not work to develop their own economy other than collecting anti-Israeli donations.

I don't agree with this action. I am strongly pro-Israel and believe that this would be too costly. I also don't think that it's up to America to split up Israel, as I believe that Israel is given to the Jews by God. It is up to no one to split that land, and it is up to no one to be jealous for it, as it usually doesn't prosper under the care of anyone but the Jews.

Just my opinion, and my saying that I disagree with him. I am not meaning to attack anyone's faith. So please don't attack what I believe.
