Limbaugh’s Favorable Rating: 19 Percent

(CBS)
Over the past few weeks, the White House has been casting right-wing talk show host Rush Limbaugh as the head of the Republican Party, and based on a new CBS News poll, it appears they may be onto something: According to the poll, Limbaugh’s favorable rating stands at just 19 percent, a full 43 points lower than President Obama’s.

Limbaugh’s unfavorable rating, meanwhile, stands at 40 percent, while 41 percent say they don’t know or don’t have an opinion. Not surprisingly, the conservative commentator, who has said he hopes that the president’s economic policies fail, is far more popular with Republicans – 47 percent view him favorably – than with Democrats, just seven percent of whom view him favorably.

The poll also found that Republicans are relatively pessimistic about the future of their party. Just 40 percent believe the party is going in the right direction, while nearly as many – 36 percent – say it is going in the wrong direction. Among all Americans, just 27 percent say the party is going in the right direction and 48 percent say it is going in the wrong direction.

In March 1994 – right before the Republican takeover of Congress – views were quite different. A Gallup/CNN/USA Today taken at the time found that 58 percent believed the Republican leadership was taking the party in the right direction while just 24 percent thought it was headed in the wrong direction.

These comments just show what is true about most of the American citizens today...they have no idea what is happening to the country since Obama took over. What a bunch of morons!!! All most of the so called citizens care about is that check from the Federal gov't. No wonder the Dumacrats fight immigrations changes...it keeps them in power. As Michelle so aptly put it last year...I am ashamed that I am American!!!!!!!!!!

Limbaugh is an alligator mouth republican leader that has little knowledge of the real world and does not deal in the truth or the facts, just is slanted opinions and leads the republicans in opposing all progressive legislation,

George Bush has a better rating than rush. It is hard to believe. I find it funny that less than half the Republican party have a favorable opinion of Limpballs. He should do something to fix that since he is the de-facto leader of the republican party...LMAO

Below 19 percent....just because the fat windbag is a racist? Just because he wants the country to fail and go into depression? Just because he thinks that because the republicanazis are no longer in power, that this country isn't worth the Constitution? Umm.....I think that first of all, that Nazi Limbaugh, along with the other flying monkey republicanazi supporters, need to be waterboarded (just like they supported waterboarding innocent people), thrown into Gitmo prison, and treated the same way that others who would subert and try to destroy the US from inside would have done to them! The aforementioned brown shirted, ignorant nazis that are the party of hate seem to think that the fat man is only a "entertainer", that he means no ill towards the US, and that his need to be as subversive and devisive as possible is only "hollywood"........yeah, and if you believe that, Der American Hitler bush was a humanitarian who would NEVER go to war before talking first...........

So, as usual, you poll mostly Democrats and Independents (who usually lean left) with the intent of a slanted poll. Give me a break CBS.

The idea is to poll a representative sample of the country as a whole. Maybe you'd prefer they ask only people who are Limbaugh fans?

um... yeah... i feel so... trickled on...

Seriously, rush has no ideology other than what he can say to obtain and retain audience. Nothing more. Real conservatives are utterly embarassed by his irresponsible spew.

I'm sorry, but Rush is an entertainer. He is not a politician responsible to taxpayers. Thus, his "popularity poll" numbers are meaningless. What should (and I'm sure does) matter to him are the ratings of his radio show. And those, I believe, are stratospheric or higher right now thanks to the new messiah's personal interest in trashing Rush.

I don't agree with everything Rush Limbaugh says and I don't even listen to the guy but I will fight to the death to protect his right to say it!
Freedom of speech definitely includes speech you may not agree with or speech that isn't "politically correct".

Listen to the idiots trying to defend this guy. The reason ya'll 19 percenters like him so much is you are incapable of independent thought.

Rush is proven. Facts stand above our personal whims. Go to a ball game with him; you might be calmer about your accusations. It seems some people can?t see through that giant sequoia tree stuck in their eye?this is a modified biblical allusion for those of you without religion. I don't go to church; the bible is a good read though. Rush is an extremist in style but the root content of his arguments are only the repetition of the framers who propelled this country through the Civil War, Unionism, the Western expansion, the Industrial Revolution, the first depression and if the principle threads of capitalism hold then perhaps we?ll get through this downturn. Ideology is at war, the voices are the casualties. Capitalism and wars brought us here, now we will see if Socialism can get us out?Obama deserves a fair chance. Few generals never lost a battle in history?the few unbeaten had the right strategy above the right tools. Rush is only repeating the ideology that gave this country decades of greatness?now we?re at a crossroad. What to do? I don't think anyone is completely sure.

Problem with both the political conservatives AND the liberals, is that all too often they're correct, but can't see the middle of the road. The rich folks on both sides won't support anybody who's not on the far edge of the road, so we end up with the political extremes. I rarely ever listen to either side's political rhetoric, but yes, both sides do make sense some of the time! If they'd stop listening only to their own echoes, the world would be a better place.

westcoastman: You TRY to listen to both sides. You should stick with Rush. He needs all the help he can get, especially that love he dispenses daily. Not a hateful bone in Rush's rotund body!

I try to listen to both sides. I listen to Rush a few times week and listen to liberal radio on sirus a few times a week. The one big difference I have noticed. When liberals call rush's show they are given the opportunity to express their views and debate their point intelligently if they can. The liberal radio has the most foul mouthed bunch of hate mongers I have ever heard. I have yet to hear any of the conservative hosts even come close to the bunch on sat radio. I have yet to hear any of them open a real debate with calling some one a foul name or belittling the caller. And talk about bigoted, they are far worse then any thing I have ever heard on a conservative show . Very low class.
As far as the ratings go, Please go check Pelosi's numbers in the same poll and tell me that the people love her with an 18% favorable rating and she is the 3rd from the top. Better yet check Obama's rating against Bush's after 2 months in office. Bush wins.
Obama has a lot to learn with this OJT we have going at the White House.
Just sad!

Well Obama's "enemies list" is getting longer. We need to add another name today:

1. Rush
2. Crammer
3. Cheney
New (4) Mike Krzyewski

WASHINGTON (CNN) ? Duke basketball coach Mike Krzyzewski has become a Republican talking point.

After it was revealed that President Obama left Duke out of the Final Four in his NCAA brackets, Krzyzewski remarked Wednesday that the president should focus more on the economy than on his basketball picks.

That quip caught the attention of a Republican senator, Lamar Alexander, who summoned up Coach K's comments at a GOP press conference on Thursday.

"The AIG bonuses make the president subject to the charge that he's living above the store but he's not minding it," Alexander told reporters. "He's even found time to fill out his NCAA basketball brackets, which is a healthy thing to do in my opinion."

................. Jon Stewart attacked Crammer for Obama .

................... Liberal CNN has assigned itself to attack Mike

How does everyone like America's liberal NAZI-like press? Obama LOVES them...........and "they" him........................................corrupt

It's pretty obvious that wherever they went to take this poll there was a majority of Democrats and/or people that don't follow politics at all. Maybe it was a welfare or WIC office.
Do you think we would have seen the results of the poll if 65% approved of Rush? No, of course not... the poll results would have never seen the light of day.

skyk-2009: You say that the liberals were right. That again is an opinion. You are entitled to that opinion. I will never shout you down for saying what you believe. That's what makes this country great. I may disagree with you..as you disagree with me. I would say that you and I are probably alot alike in many respects if we were to sit down and talk.
bigsk8fan: You obviously don't like Bush, but remember that the Congress was democratic...largely liberals. If they wanted to defeat his ideals why didn't (couldn't) they? When I stated what the conservatives and the liberals believe that wasn't my opinion. That was taken from the ideals that conservatives and liberals have had over the years. Yes, I have been paying attention to what has been going on for the last 8 years. I could ask you the same question. But what good would that do. You are evidently predisosed in your opinions.
