Rove: Democrats Want To See Me “Barbecued”

(AP Photo/Susan Walsh)
Karl Rove, the former top adviser to President George W. Bush, today told Fox News that while he is worried that his appearance before the House Judiciary Committee concerning the firing of U.S. attorneys could become a “show trial,” he looks forward to the opportunity to explain his role.

(AP)
Rove told Fox that some Democrats, among them as Michigan Democrat and Judiciary Committee chair Rep. John Conyers (left), are targeting him above all others. He suggested they are less concerned with the other Bush administration figures involved in the scandal, White House Counsel Harriet Miers and Chief of Staff Josh Bolten.

"I understand [Miers and Bolton] may be the hors d'oeuvres, but I'm the main course," Rove said. "Some Democrats would love to have me barbecued."

Rove also suggested that he sees little problem with contact between the White House and Justice Department, pointing to the fact that Gregory Craig, who is now White House General Counsel, campaigned for President Obama when Mr. Obama was a candidate.

"If White House contact with the Justice Department is inappropriate, then what are we doing by allowing anybody who has anything remotely to do with the political campaign -- like the general counsel of the Obama White House - to have any contact with the Justice Department?" he said.

Rove acknowledged that he passed along complaints about U.S. Attorneys David Iglesias and Kevin Ryan to Miers and Attorney General Alberto Gonzales while in the White House. Iglesias and Ryan are among the attorneys whom Gonzales later fired.

babooph,

I am sure you are lying about your Republican credentials.

As I see it, the Democrats want to take vengeance on the Bush administration and jail as many as possible.

To fill up the jails with political prisoners, you will have to let out rapists, murders, muggers and drug pushers. I hope you like your new neighbors.

Instead of blaming everything on Democrats, Mr. Rove, how about taking a little bit of personal responsibility for the first time in your life?

Instead of chasing news reporters, talk-show radio hosts and perceived goblins around the kitchen with a butcher knife -- how about if the President and his staffers get down to the business of running the Country?

The People and the Economy are collectively growing weary of playing the role of Sancho Panza to his Don Quixote.

What's the point of barbecuing a sewer rat?

It would be as much for "pleasure" as it would be for "justice".

Rove believes Democrats want to see him Bar-B-Qued and rightly so. Why not? He has been involved in a cover-up and failed to tell the truth. He has been subpoenaed repeatedly and invoked a the far-reaching defense of "executive privilege" knowing full well that defense is only available to the President. Cheney did the same and then claimed the office of the Vice-President was not part of the executive branch. One doubts Rove or Miers will tell the truth. Miers may face disabarment of she lies. Gonzalez should be disbarred for overseeing the dissemination of bad law by his underlings.

I would also like to see Rove get barbecued? He was protected by Bush & Chenney, now let's see if they will back him up. If they do they have to testify on his behalf. I want to see if they will step up to the plate and bat for Rove. Let him fry and if the other cronies want to join him, let them speak up on his defense. He needs to pay for what he did, especially to put the life of a CIA agent in danger. He needs to pay and pay big.

I don't think he should be barbecued.

I think he should be launched out of a plane, at the Afghanistan / Pakistan border.

As fat as he is, he'll have to hit at least ONE terrorist!

Rove overestimates his importance. Yes, his role was criminal and yes, he should and will pay for it. Regarding barbecues, he'd just end up smelling worse than he does now.
