Get Your Inaugural Piggy Banks Here, Kids!

As millions of Barack-o-philes prepare to descend upon the nation's capital, the Presidential Inaugural Committee has opened a memorabilia store in downtown Washington, D.C.

Obama devotees who want a tangible reminder of the historic inauguration can purchase standard souvenir fare such as t-shirts, caps and coffee mugs. But there are also a few less conventional items for sale.

Livestrong wristbands were so 2004. For the low price of $4, you can purchase this blue Barack Obama wristband and wear it proudly to "remember the historic day of 01.20.09 every day."

It may look a bit like one at first glance, but that's no Lincoln penny below. For $60, you can be the proud owner of one these stately Obama medallions complete with the Presidential Inaugural Seal (not to mention a certificate of authenticity).

And for the littlest Obama fans, kids can start saving up for 2012 reelection campaign donations by filling their shiny, new Barack Obama piggy bank.

You can get 26 personalized Barack Obama wristbands at wristbandfactory.com for under $10. $10 for one seems like too much..

Given the state of the economy and the fact that people are losing their jobs as companies are either laying them off or closing their doors on a daily basis around here, I''m supposed to run out and spend money on this stuff? I don''t think so.

It''s worth going to the store and looking up the cover art on the kids coloring books (in the kids areas) it just screams "please abuse me with Photoshop!"

I can''t believe our most original thinking during that time has become the accepted Normal Way To Protest.

Back in the day, it was new...

And now, to se we made a real difference, and it''s amazing to see the difference we made.

However, we got a whole new batch of teens and twenty-somethings who will take some twenty years to make their changes happen.

Interesting times ahead... indeed so. :)

The 60 plus years I have been on this planet have given me HISTORY, lots of HISTORY. This for a Activist Student, a Veteran of Vietnam and a big supporter of Civil Rights is a very proud time. Now you have to consider that comes AFTER all that we did in the 60''s. WE changed the WORLD and still THIS is as good as it gets.
