Clinton For Senate?

A little pre-feast political appetizer appears on the op-ed page of the Washington Post this morning, where authors Karl E. Meyer and Shareen Blair Brysac argue that the best replacement in the U.S. Senate for Hillary Clinton should she, as expected, become Secretary of State would be – her husband, former President Bill Clinton. From the op-ed:
Who in his party could question so historic and dazzling a choice? In a stroke, the appointment would provide Sen. Clinton's indefatigable husband with a fitting day job, serve the interests of a state beset by a meltdown in its most vital economic sector and offer a refreshing reverse twist on a tradition whereby deceased male senators, representatives or governors are succeeded by their widows.

Oh, please God, no more Bill Clinton! I think America has experienced enough of Mr. Clinton''s shenanigans, both here in Arkansas and in Washington, DC. He is an unrepentent philanderer and adulterer. Please spare the country of more of Bill Clinton. This might be cute or fanciful, but it is egregious and dangerous.

This is the answer to the Question about what to do with Bill Clinton while his wife heads the State department. How can Obama control the fund raising of Clinton and his Initiative? Put him in the Senate.

Dickbash,

Supporters of Senator McCain appear to have no problem with a background of adultry. There have been many adulterers in the Senate over its history. This in no way disqualifies a man who has many political assets.

Why not? He would not be the first American to become president, and then later be a member of Congress: John Quincy Adams served in the Congress after he had served as president (although in Adams'' case, I don''t know whether his post-presidential service in the Congress was as a member of the Senate or the House of Representatives).

Egregious and dangerous? Please, dickbash, and other Clinton haters, GIVE IT UP, why not focus your judgments on someone truly disgusting and evil...George Bush, jr. Otherwise, give up the continual demonizing of Bill (and Hillary)...they''re both brillant and completely dedicated to this country and its citizens....
Wake Up, then chill...

It has been rumored that when NY Senator Hiliary "Bullets Over Bosnia" Clinton takes on the role of Secretary of State under Great Emperor-elect Obama, that there is a strong possibility that she may name her husband, "Wild Bill" Clinton, as her successor at being NY Senator.

Because of the possibility of such a scenario happening, the movie producers of the 1990''s science fiction movie "Independance Day", which featured a scene showing an alien mother ship blowing the Clinton White House into oblivion, intend on filming a sequel entitled "Beyond Independance Day" which will include a scene showing an alien mother ship blowing the Capitol Building into dust!

Meanwhile, it has been learned that there has been an increase in the sales of condoms to female Senate pages, and a larger desk has been ordered for the Clinton Office!

SIG HEIL, AT LEAST "WILD BILL" WAS STRAIGHT!!!, BUSH!!!

After serving one term as President, John Quincey Adams was elected to Congress and served as a great Speaker of the House. I believe President Kennedy once mused that he would follow suit after serving as President. Its the sign of a great statesperson to serve where they are best suited no matter what role they played before. Who says a President must retire?

Bill will 100% not become a senator, he would have to step aside or step down from his foundation which he has put his whole heart into and it would also be a vast stepdown politicly, what will happen is this : Hillary will be [a great] Sec of State thus putting the Clinton brand back in the limelight [not that it was exactly fading anyway!] meanwhile he will continue to globe-trot raising millions for the poor & for him & Hillary

What''s the news? That was the Plan all along for the People of New York when Hillary started campaigning for President 8 years ago?

Get used to it people! Where is all this change BO was talking about in Washington??

Time for the people & consumers to boycott Wall Street, Your Oil Companies, Banks, Mortgage & Credit companies. All there doing is find easier ways for us to go further in debt. We have bail them out now & later by increased fees, costs, etc. on our borrowed mentality.

Okay, but first let him serve out Hill''s term. When the SC opening comes old Bill can be transitioned from legislative to judicial duties. That way Republicans can better enjoy his fine contributions to all three branches of our government.

I would welcome Bill Clinton anytime, anywhere. I just don''t get it with these people who can''t remember what it was like 8 years ago when the Clintons were in the White House and all was well with this great land. Sure, things were not perfect, but they were a heck of a lot better than they are now. Bill Clinton wasn''t perfect either, as none of us are, but he wasn''t stupid, and he wasn''t a puppet, which is more than we can say about the leadership of the last 8 years. I''d rather have a president (or senator) who has a weakness for the ladies than a president (or senator) who has a weakness of brain cells. I think Bill would make a wonderful senator and Hillary will make a fantastic Secretary of State, and Mr. Obama is GOING TO BE A GREAT PRESIDENT.

What in the world would be Bill Clinton''s motivation to accept the senate seat if offered? The Clinton foundation raises vast sums of money and requires global travel. As a sitting senator, the senatorial pay check would not adequately compensate him for his time. Anyone appointed to serve out Hillary''s term will prove to be a reliable democratic vote. Bill Clinton would also prove to be a distraction to the administration. This is a "lose-lose" scenario.

But Bill is not into those Senate page boys, and besides he wants to be emperor. So make him secretary general of the United Nations; they have lots of interns over at the UN, and plenty of money passing through to skim off.

Congress is notorious for fvcking under age pages and other shenanigans. We don''t need the perennial icon of fvckography on the Hill--trying to see if there is any territory his old azz has not yet conquered. stop trying to get the freak clintons back in power. Clinton would try to commandeer the Legislative branch while Hillary tried to undermine Obama from within--no thank you--our country has no time for such drama and trauma right now.

If Clinton fulfills his wife''s seat, Dems can kiss 2012 goodbye. We said we did not want Bill back and we meant it. GOP fanatics have Palin as their eternal mascot--intent on foisting her on the rest of us and the left has Bill Clinton--we want neither. Either get and learn that point, or get ready to get out in 2012.

Consider the reversal Duke Cunningham moment when Clinton and/or his foundation is discovered to have accepted gifts or donations from foreigners or others for influence (he already was being paid to lobby for Columbia and has monies from numerous ME sources)

Or perhaps Clinton will entertain us with a Foley/Vitter/Spitzer moment and once again diddle a page or lower level employee. Sure to be entertaining to all of the people who still have jobs and tvs at that point (NOT).

Here''s a clue--your stench is only a preferable aroma to yourself. So Dems table your Clinton fever and Repubs table your Palinitis--both stink to high heaven!!!

My God the neo ocns are in a panic. From the government web site.

http://www.whitehouse.gov/history/presidents/bc42.html

During the administration of William Jefferson Clinton, the U.S. enjoyed more peace and economic well being than at any time in its history. He was the first Democratic president since Franklin D. Roosevelt to win a second term. He could point to the lowest unemployment rate in modern times, the lowest inflation in 30 years, the highest home ownership in the country''s history, dropping crime rates in many places, and reduced welfare rolls. He proposed the first balanced budget in decades and achieved a budget surplus. As part of a plan to celebrate the millennium in 2000, Clinton called for a great national initiative to end racial discrimination.

One of the best and there is nothing you neo cons can do to change that. Plus if I were Obama I would wait until the Supreme court had an opening and appoint him and then appoint Hillary.

That would make the neo cons literly lose it and it would make most of America just start laughing at them.

antoniof123,

You missed one very important point. All of Clinton''s achievements were after 1994 when he had a Republican-controlled congress. If you took his first two years when the Democrats ruled Congress, his record would be very poor.

Besides, the assessment you quote reads like propaganda written by one of Clinton''s interns.
