Sen. Bond Warns Palin Crowd That Obama Wants Judges Who Empathize With “The Gay”

(CBS)
From CBS News' Scott Conroy:

(CAPE GIRARDEAU, MO.) - Taking the stage as one of the pre-program speakers at a Sarah Palin rally here in Rush Limbaugh’s hometown, Sen. Kit Bond, R-Missouri, fired up the crowd by warning them about Barack Obama’s judicial philosophy.

“Just this past week, we saw what Barack Obama said about judges,” Bond said. “He said, ‘I’m tired of these judges who want to follow what the Founding Fathers said and the Constitution. I want judges who have a heart, have an empathy for the teenage mom, the minority, the gay, the disabled. We want them to show empathy. We want them to show compassion.’”

Bond then seized on Obama’s comments to Joe The Plumber, saying the Democrat wants to redistribute wealth.

“He thinks this country should be a government—not a government of laws, but a government of compassion and empathy, not of laws,” Bond said.

Bond was referring to Obama's answer to "Joe the Plumber's" question earlier this month "Your new tax plan is going to tax me more, isn't it?"

"It's not that I want to punish your success. I just want to make sure that everybody who is behind you, that they've got a chance for success too," Obama said on Oct. 12 in Holland, Ohio. "My attitude is that if the economy's good for folks from the bottom up, it's gonna be good for everybody ... I think when you spread the wealth around, it's good for everybody."

Palin is scheduled to take the stage in just a few minutes, but there are still thousands of people in line outside waiting the Show-Me Center.

After this event, Palin heads to Erie, Pennsylvania, for a closed national security roundtable and a rally. She’ll end her day with a rally in Williamsport, home of the Little League World Series.

Amomg all the paranoid drivel and hypocrisy (McCain is infinitely more guilty of every single charge) posted by ''One American'' this one has to be addressed in particular

"Unprecedented lurch towards a Socialist Dictatorship"

well look at this

And Alaska - we''re set up, unlike other states in the union, where it''s collectively Alaskans own the resources. So we share in the wealth when the development of these resources occurs."

The words of ''Socialist'' Palin herself

Who''s the socialist now huh?

I understand that you people are scared and panicking. But can you try to be just a touch less infuriatingly hypocritical?

Oh my... a government of compassion and empathy... we wouldn''t want THAT, now would we? Let''s instead continue our selfish, heartless, feed the bank accounts of only our wealthy friends, kind of government. You know, the kind of government Bush and McCain and the GOP have given us for eight long years -- where 2% of us did well, and the other 98% got nothing.

This country is sick and tired of your "culture wars".

We have too many serious problems to deal with.

Pathetic!

%u2018I%u2019m tired of these judges who want to follow what the Founding Fathers said and the Constitution." Barrack Obama

Obama wants to disregard the foundation of what has America what it is, that has given Obama the rights to stand before us and say he wants to have judges who will disreagrd our Bill of Rights if they feel sorry for someone.

That means there is no law, and without law, there is anarchy.Followed by dictorship.

This Presidential campaign is wonderful for bringing out some of these U.S. Congressmen and Senators, so that we get a chance to see who they really are.
Hopefully the self serving intolerant and bigoted hacks will be voted out of office. They certainly are not speaking for the United States of America when they exploit the biases of the unhinged segment of the population.

Barrack Obama has not only graduated from Harvard Law School, he has also been an instructor of Constitutional Law. The only experience Sahara Palin has with the law is attempting to have her ex-brother-in-law fired from the Alaaaaskah State Troopers and, negotiating (as Governor) with prosecutors a deal to have her son %u201CTrack%u201D serve his sentence out in the Military instead of jail time. Republicans consistently distract attention away from their agenda with the same old wedge issues.

You know what I changed my mind about Obama! I think he will be better for national security and the economy!

Plus sarah palin $150,000.00 on clothes, most Americans could have bought a home for that amount!

Besides I think Sarah Palin is really a Terrorist

Breaking News: The Terrorist Group AKA Alaska Independent party Calling on Russia to help secede from the Union

Extremists Mark Chryson and Steve Stoll former leaders of the Alaska Terrorist group AKA Independence Party and friends of Sarah Palin are calling on Russia to help them gain independence from the United States.

Watch video of Sarah palin addressing The Alaska Terrorist Group also known as The Independence party. They are calling for a civil war against the mainland.

Scary how the hate-mongers'' talks about how gay people don''t deserve the same rights as straight people echo Jim Crow-era speech about how black people don''t deserve the same rights as white people. Wake up folks! You can either be progressive and offer basic respect to your fellow human beings, or you can be a bigot stuck in the 13th century. Gay people are productive members of society and are not a threat to anything. Don''t like gay marriage? Don''t have one. Just leave your kooky hyper-religious zeal out of politics.

And no doubt Palin will push for judges who empathize with the AIP that she has so clearly embraces.

It''s inconceivable that Palin''s clear ties to Chryson have been so under-reported when we should be very fearful of them.

"Extremists Mark Chryson and Steve Stoll helped launch Palin''s political career in Alaska, ... "Her door was open," says Chryson -- and still is.".

5 more days - how many more ways are people going to find to split this nation?
Scarier how are we going to heal it?
Who is going to heal it - it will not be these leaders that are calling for division.

Palin - if you are truly going to be the new conservative Christian leader - haw about leading on some Christian principles and call out for the end of the divisive politics. These are not Christian principles.

WWJD???

Is he serious making these comments before Palin goes on stage? Doesn''t Palin have a down syndrome baby? Isn''t there a high probablity that child will be disabled? So, Obama would be wrong (presuming he made such a statement) to appoint judges who have empathy or have a heart for the disabled which could very well turn out to be a child with special needs which I thought was one of Palin''s policies....seems a bit contradictory if you ask me.

And otherwise, it is just fear mongering which is clearly being tolerated and encouraged by the Mccain/Palin ticket. Yes, I want to show heart to the all. Did he really also include the elderly...wow, crazy stupid.

The second paragraph is sad. He never said he doesnt want judges to follow the Constitution. In fact he has said on more than one occassion he wants them to follow it.

But the second part of what he said was saddest. I have no doubt this man claims to be a "good Christian" but what he was insulting, making up what Obama said, sounds like something Jesus would have said. To love your fellow man, show empathy, do not caste the first stone, love the disabled and the poor. Those seem like the main tenent of Jesus.

Jesus never once mentioned *** as being something bad. Not once. Republicans are the Romans and pretend to be the followers of Christ. Even though they hate his message of helping the poor, of not judging your fellow man, and of not letting greed consume you. It''s pathetic.

Our country doesn''t need crazy-as-the-day-is-long Michele Bachmann or this clown in office. We deserve better! We are one country and one people and the haters need to crawl back under their rocks. We must speak out loudly and supporting the opponents of these characters is a very powerful way to do so.

It is an insult to compare homsexual rights to black rights. Blacks reproduce. Homosexuals recruit. There is nothing in the Bible that speaks out against being black. There are several Bible verses that outlaw homosexual liasons.

---

1) We do not live in a theocracy (know what that word means?)
2) The Bible doesn''t mention African-Americans obviously, but it sure condones **SLAVERY**
3) Nobody "recruited" me, I came out to mom when I was 16 and had never met a gay person in my life, discussed it in school, or really heard much about it in the media. If you seriously believe gay people recruit, please explain to me how in the world that could possibly work. Could I turn you gay?

Delusional, small-minded morons. Can''t wait until this idiot wind passes.

tj217-not sure where you get your information that "homosexuals recruit", but that aside, these are your religious beliefs. This country was founded on people who came here to avoid religious persecution. We thus have seperation of church and state. So you may read the Bible a certain way and choose to live your life that way. BUT, the basic principle of the USA is that it is your choice to live by your reading of the Bible.

BTW--given your strict adherence to the Bible, what do you think of Senator Craig; Mark Foley; Ted Haggard; Bob Allen; Glenn Murphy, Jr...just to name a few...

Not "The Gay"! My God, that''s almost as bad as hanging around with "The Jews" or "The Blacks".

Obviously Palin/McCain empathize with "The Ignorant", "The Angry", and "The Hateful".

How is that evangelical Christians are the most hate-filled people in public life. I think "The Jesus" would be ashamed of them.

Thompson quote "He needed to make himself look totally white," he said, adding Obama should have acknowledged that even though his skin is slightly darker, he''s still a regular human being.

let''s think about this. Are laws not intended to be comapassionate and fair? I do''t recall the Constitution speaking to any treatment different for *** than for straights, or as now amended, any differently to race or gender. The idea that judges should make up what isn''t in the Constitution--overt, legally enforceable discrimination--is a clear violation of the conservative view of the law and the bench. Kit Bond knows better, and should be ashamed of himself.

I thought the comments were a satire. But I guess that there is a lot of hate coming from the good Christians who tell us the founding founders built this country on Christian principles. Now, just who was it that wanted us to treat the least among as we would treat each other? Who delivered the sermon on the mount?
And where does the constitution say, "Thou shall not be kind and compassionate."

The argument being made by Bond seems more aligned with the Nurenberg accused who responded with, "I was just following orders."

Solomon tempted the law with mercy and was reknown for his wisdom. Jesus counselled us to love each other. Even the Statue of Liberty invites the tired, the poor, and huddled masses. OOOOOPS! I forgot, the good Christians don''t want any of those foreigners here either.
