Palin Will Get Chance To Show Self-Deprecating Side On “SNL”

(CBS)
From CBS News' Scott Conroy:

(LANCASTER, Pa.) After spending the better part of her candidacy under the safe confines of carefully staged rallies and having struggled through a few high-profile interviews, Sarah Palin is coming out of her media shell.

She now holds daily interviews with local broadcasters and conservative talk radio hosts, she gave her first ever on-camera press conference with her traveling press corps on Friday, and tonight she’ll take the leap that everyone’s been waiting for when she appears on “Saturday Night Live.”

“Oh, man. I'm excited for tomorrow night,” Palin told reporters on Friday. “I have no idea what to expect because I haven't seen any scripts or anything else yet, but it will be fun. The opportunity to show American television watchers anyway that you get to have a sense of humor through all of this or even just this really would be wearin’, tearin’ on you, so an opportunity to show that sense of humor and that side of all of this, I look forward to it.”

On the NBC show, Tina Fey has been relentless in portraying Palin as an unqualified joke over the last few weeks, and Fey’s satirical take on the Alaska governor has left its mark on the public consciousness. For that very reason, it would seem that Palin has much to gain and little to lose in tonight’s appearance.

If Palin can show an ability to laugh at herself, and perhaps even more importantly, succeeds in giving Fey a taste of her own comic medicine, she will reap the benefit of days of positive coverage on cable news and entertainment media outlets. “Saturday Night Live” may be a comedy show, but Palin’s appearance could very well have a serious impact on the election.

She will fit in just right. The woman is a joke.Everything about her is hilarious.I dont care what she does there tonight, the fact will remain that John Mccain would do it differently given the chance. On the Late show when asked about Palin,he was painfully fumbling for a reason why he chose her.I think he is mad at himself.I will not trust his judgment.Ever again.

Who cares? Maybe we can switch and have Tina Fey run with MCcain. It can''t be any worse.

Please...someone tie her up and put Tina Fey in her place just in case McCain is elected. How sad is it that an actor playing a comic role of satirizing a real politician is literally, actually and absolutely more qualified than the politician she is satirizing!

Palin Power! Palin makes me proud. All the tasteless jokes by the liberal media does not change my mind. Just made me work harder for McCain/Palin. Visiting AK in May, I heard great things about the governor and did not know who the governor was at that time. John Edwards was so fond of the "regular people" but Sarah understands the the hard working people of America, the regular people! Go McCain/Palin.

American politics?/?**
Leave the woman alone. She has done more than Obama will ever do. Are you people all blind to the facts. Obama is shady and uses and has used any dirty trick to advance his career. Look at acorn. I can''t believe this is happening in America. John Mccain would not have listened to a american hating preacher for 5 minutes yet Barak sits under wright for 20 years lapping it all up. His wife only proud to be a american now that her hubby can possibly advance. He whines about negative ads. SAure some ads are negative towards him but more importantly they are TRUE. Wake up america

Palin is already a complete farce, she can''t undo the damage she''s done to her party and the disservice that she and McCain have provided for the citizens of the United States. SNL or no, America is already a parody in the eyes of the world, we all have to learn to laugh at ourselves at this point! Or vote to make a difference!

From the Philadelphia Enquirer:

"More troubling was McCain''s selection of Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin as his running mate. This blatant overture to women voters and evangelical Christians who share her views on abortion backfired when Palin in interviews proved she is not prepared to be a heartbeat away from the presidency."

The Kansas City Star declared: "...McCain chose a vice presidential candidate who is so clearly unqualified for high office that the thought of her stepping into the presidency is frightening..."

The Salt Lake Tribune said that "out of nowhere, and without proper vetting, the impetuous McCain picked Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin as his running mate. She quickly proved grievously under-equipped to step into the presidency...more than any single factor, McCain''s bad judgment in choosing the inarticulate, insular and ethically challenged Palin disqualifies him for the presidency."

Sarah Palin''s appearance on SNL was a bust--no pun intended. She was dull and so was the show. Her presence ruined it. She is such an unpleasant person--so full of lies and vitriol, that it''s hard to forget that whenever you see her. Heaven help us if that woman is elected--what a disaster. Fox News will no doubt declare it a triumph and start predicting a McCain win again, right after they post a few more reports about ACORN and Obama''s ties to terrorists. It''s time for the Republicans to disappear quietly from the scene. They have made enough disasters already--ruined our economy, run up a huge national debt, lied to us all repeatedly. Please, we need some air we can breathe, not all this old stale smoke.
