Egyptian Islamist Given 6 Months To Leave Britain

An Egyptian Islamist who has been ordered to leave Britain within six months posted a statement on a militant Internet forum asking fellow members to disregard any of the statements he might be brought to make in the coming days in an attempt to avoid being expelled from Britain. Hany El Sebai stated "if in any of my current statements or writings, you feel that I have changed or retracted any of my usual positions and arguments that I always voiced in public and in the media, please disregard and ignore them completely."

El Sibai, who has been living in Britain for several years, said his lawyers informed him that he was given six months to leave Britain with his family, including his children who were born in the U.K.. The Home Office said El Sibai represented a threat to Britain 's national security.

El Sibai is a lawyer with a political refugee status in the U.K . Egypt had accused him of being one of the 14 members of the consultative council of the Egyptian Islamic Jihad group and convicted him in absentia in the case of the Returnees from Albania. El Sibai has been active on the jihadi blogs and on Paltalk. He was regularly interviewed by Aljazeera and other Arab media outlets and often openly expressed his support to al Qaeda and its leaders Osama Bin Laden and Ayman Zawahiri.
