Palin Says Omaha Visit Was Not Campaign’s Call, It Was Hers

(CBS)
From CBS News' Scott Conroy:

(OMAHA, NEB.) - Sarah Palin said at a hastily scheduled Sunday night rally in this solidly red state that the decision to come here was hers alone and was not the defensive move by her campaign to lock up Nebraska’s 2nd Congressional District that many pundits have suggested.

“The pundits today on TV—one of them was saying, check out the vice president’s schedule, check out where she’s going — she’s going to Nebraska,” Palin said.

“But the pundit was saying the only reason she’d be going there is ‘cause they’re scared, so they gotta go there and shore up votes. And I so wanted to reach into that TV and say no, I’m going to Nebraska because I want to go to Nebraska.

Nebraska is one of only two states that splits its Electoral College votes, and the Obama campaign is making a serious play for the solidly-Republican 2nd Congressional District, which is represented by Rep. Lee Terry, R-Neb. But Palin suggested that the obvious political ramifications had nothing to do with her decision to come here.

“And you can ask — and probably the reporters will ask — the top dogs in our campaign why am I in Nebraska, and it’s truly because I asked to come to the heartland of America today,” she said.

I can see it all now. Another 9/11, McCain and Palin both too busy trying to outdo each other with dramatics trying to get as much time in front of the cameras as possible.

McCain on Air Force One but secret Service won''t let plane land because the threat is not yet understood.

Sarah Palin rushes down to the underground bunker and takes over the rule and all decision making for the free world.

She reminds you of Margaret Thatcher? ROFLMAO NOT even THREE Palins equals one Thatcher.

It''s amazing how all the uneducated far-right sheep have swallowed the "Palin Juice".

She''s uninformed and completely dangerous. When McCain dies in office, this fool will be PRESIDENT.

You want some "Jane" from next door as PRESIDENT? Someone who doesn''t have the slightest idea what is going on in the world or the economy? That''s just suicidal.

Palin is a delusional nutcase. She really seems to think that all the information poured into her pea brain by her Republican handlers is actually the product of her own ideas and thought process. She has no substantive thoughts, only scripts. It is a waste of time to report or read anything she says. It''s like reading the daily cartoons.

I think McCain''s attacks on Obama''s character show that McCain is old, out of touch, and frankly a little desperate and nutty. All of these things that Palin is saying were discussed over and over during the primary and found to be NOTHING. Obama was thoroughly vetted during the primary process and shown to be honest, intelligent, and ready to be president. Our economy and country are in a mess due to republicans. I will never vote republican again even on the local and county level and I sure wouldn''t vote for a nutty old man like McCain and an unqualified person like Palin. Tina Fey is more qualified to be president than either McCain or Palin.

I urge you all to read up on Bill Ayers (wikipedia will do) and then tell me the difference between what Ayers did when Obama was 8 and the man that he is today, which is the only Bill Ayers that Obama has ever had contact with. Now contrast that to McCain being in knee deep with Charles Keating WHILE Keating was ripping off little old ladies life savings and the American tax payers AND McCain was a SENATOR!!! How do they come up with this ***?????

Big freakin'' deal, Palin.

I suppose for someone that doesn''t leave Alaska much, a trip to another state on her own volition is a HUGE Baby Step.

But we expect more from a vice president.

Apparently she went to a solidly red state so she wouldn''t be booed off the stage when she launched her slimy lie tirade against Obama.

I remember thinking the same about Reagan when he was running as I do about Palin: What a joke. Well, Reagan was no joke and he ended up hurting a lot of people when he was in office (although not as many as Bush). Dont dismiss Palin. Get your friends, familiy, everybody to vote. Otherwise you may really regret it over the next 4/8 years.

SARAH PALIN-*** CHENEY IN A SKIRT.
Rigid, sarcastic, and she states in the debate that she wants to EXPAND THE DUTIES of the Vice-President.
Translation-she wants to finish Cheney''''s attempt to move the VP Office into the Legislative Branch so she can control Congress. Our founding fathers created 3 separate branches for a reason and any idiot knows the Vice-President belongs to the Executive Branch. She has no problem watching Polar Bears begin to drown in her state & yet fight to keep them off the endangered list. This is one power hungry, ruthless B----h. Cheney is hated by most Americans...but God help us all if Palin gets into the White House...

Yeah, right. Palin''s sudden desire to go to the heartland, Omaha in particular, just happens to coincide with, but has noting to do with, Obama''s rising poll numbers there and Nebraska''s split electoral votes. Why does the McCain camp continue to underestimate American voters by assuming we''re all complete idiots who can''t see through the truckload of B.S. they keep trying to serve us?

I agree with the fact there is substance in their attacks, as they are also substance from the other side''s attacks. I am afraid we will all be sick of it by election day, but I do understand Mccain''s delima. When you do not have any answers, throw s--- and see if any sticks. Well, Obama can throw too, and thet is what this debate will become. Who smells the worse?

Get real!

Everyone knows Palin is no longer running for John McCain. She is now running for Palin in 2012.

The GOP needs to realize that going to these areas could damage the Republican party when the Troopergate findings are released.

So when are we going to see that cartoon published of McCain holding a tube of lipstick to put on the lips of a winking pig? I mean, he''s simply using her to say things he''d rather not take the heat for - like an extra (and sleazy, vicious) mouth. I thought he was supposed to be be brave. From the military write-ups I''ve read about his three dumb crashes in the navy, he was defined as cocky and defiant and the crashes weren''t caused by any mechanical failure, but his own errors and wilfullness.

There is NO substance with the attacking on Obama. McCain and Palin are running out of time for the race, that''s why they have to dig up any slim chance to smear Obama that they can. Palin knows she is only one heartbeat away from the presidency if GOP won, that''s why she would do anything, including cheat, lie, calling names and lie some more, to get there, and it does not matter if she had to sacrifice millions of Americans to get there.

If Obama is not a true American then why he worked for the Community Organizer all those years to help poor people? He is an ordinary American with one house and one American car, while McCain has 12 houses (which he could not remember)and 13 cars (2 of which foreign made).

Palin''s first courageous move when she became governor was to put a tanning bed in the governor''s mansion. This is fact, look it up. Is this the kind of CHANGE she is talking about? Does a tanning bed make you a maverick?

McShame, you ought to be ashamed that McPalin is now calling you out, and seeking her own schedule! So she "wanted" to go to Nebraska on her own!! You have opened the door to an ambitious pit bull and now she is charging ahead, knocking you off the wheel chair and determined to replace you too, by whatever means. Not all pets are loyal and sometimes they have to be put down because they have destroyed their minders!

She needs to be put back on the Straight Talk Express and returned to Alaska. Although, I''m not sure they want her anymore.

I am laughing at the anti-Palin sentiment here. If fear is shown by the screaming here, it must mean that there is some substance in the comments and actions of Palin. That people may react positively, and the protective cloak worn by Obama may reveal the darkness within.

Palin is dangerous, and her rhetoric is designed to bring her attention, and the liberals are doing that. Nobody would notice the dog barking until you start telling people that the dog is barking.

Pitbulls are not known for their intelligence, and this one is also on a chain. All bark!!

Nellybelly52,
let me get this straight. People are upset with Palin, so there must be something that strikes fear.
Then you say she is dangerous. You have just flunked Psychology 101. Nobody''s gonna beleive your subliminal ***. Sarah palin is dumb as a brick for being used by McCain''s campaign to spout gutter rhetoric and half truths, and your a moron if you think we would. the whole premise behind her nomination was to get a "folksy" woman to draw votes by talking "real" to the supposed dummies who would believe her incoherent babbiling. Your not a devils advocate, you knucklehead, your just a simple knucklehead.
Make sure you attend the big damage control meeting at the GOP headquarters after you lose the election. And don''t forget to listen to Limbaugh and O''Reilly. Maybe you can get some pointers from those losers.
Good Luck.
