Obama Camp Turns Debate Moment Into Ad

Barack Obama’s campaign is out with a new ad, to run on national cable outlets, highlighting Joe Biden’s criticism of John McCain’s health care plan in the vice presidential debate last night. The ad starts with Alaska Governor Sarah Palin explaining about the plan, “He's proposing a five thousand dollar tax credit for families so that they can get out there and they can purchase their own health care coverage.” The ad then cuts in part of Biden’s response: “Do you know how John McCain pays for his five thousand dollar tax credit? He taxes as income every one of you out there, every one of you listening who has a health care plan through your employer. Taxing your health care benefit. I call that the ‘Ultimate Bridge to Nowhere.’” Watch it:

The McCain campaign has a new Web ad up as well, you can watch that here.

It''s even worse than the ad states. Right now those of us that get health insurance through our employer get it in pre-tax dollars. McCain wants to tax that, thus reducing every paycheck we get. (As if we can afford to have our checks go down...) In exchange for our checks being lowered we have the promise of a $5000.00 tax credit in April, but this is only for those purchasing their own health insurance!

An unstated side effect is that businesses will find it more expensive to cover their employees. As a result, millions will be dropped from their programs, losing health insurance and being forced to purchase it on the market. Here''s the greatest disaster... it costs on average around $12,000 for a family to buy insurance on their own.

So let''s summarize... We get lower paychecks while we still have insurance through work until we''re dropped, then we get $5000 to pay for a plan likely costing around $12,000.

Bend over middle America, here comes Team Maverick.

Great Job Obama Camp! The head cheerleader wasn''t aware of the dynamics of the McCain health Plan.
I don''t understand how Palin thought a debate was run when she refused to answer the questions presented. It looked like Palin was trying to bully the moderator by stating what she wasn''t going to do. Go figure 5 colleges 1 degree.

If I had been the moderator, I would have replied: Governor Palin, if you are not going to follow and honor a debate format by actually answering the debate questions, then why are you here? Didn''t you get enough free airtime when you did the Katie Couric interviews?

And I probably could get away with that ''zinger'' since I am a woman also.

I must admit that I was unhappy that Palin didn''t do worse then she did, YES some new saw through her lines, but more people saw her pull better prepared then they thought she would be. To be honest its the interviews that she don''t have the chance to "study" for that show where her faults are. those are the off the cuff answers that show the real answers not the ones she is learned to parrot in an attractive manor. cute feisty Maverick''s have *** appeal Honestly she wouldn''t have any validity if she were 55 and overweight we would shake our heads in disgust at her silly answers

It''s strange that Palin thinks that she is exempt from the rules of the game and has no need to answer questions in a debate. She thumbed her nose at everyone by saying that she didn''t need to answer. She then expects to get your/my vote.
Her attitude is like the "one shot zinger" that Palin likes to use. So "bravo" to others that also noticed she avoided answering questions.
Do we really wants a public servant that won''t event attempt to be responsive and has no respect to follow and honor even a debate format by actually answering the debate questions. That attitude is only the BEGINING, we can expect more one liners, more disregard of rules and regulations.

She sounds like our current V.P. who seems to set his own rules of the game.

Also her winking and "joe six pack" and "hockey mom" comments were very un-presidential and irritating. Palin will not get my vote.

THERE ARE THREE IMPORTANT TIME BOMB HERE. 1: PALIN MADE IT CLEAR SHE WOULD PREFARE HER OWN DEBATE RULES TO THE OUTLINED. 2: PALIN IN THE DEBATE DEMANDED FOR MORE POWER FOR VP INCASE SHE BECOMES ONE. 3: PALIN HAS ADOPTED THE SAME SELFISH RULE IN ALASKA RESULTING HER GIVING POSITIONS TO FRIENDS AND FAMILY MEMBERS AND IF YOU ARE NOT FOR HER SHE FIRES YOU! THE RESULT, SHE IS NOW UNDER CRIMINAL INVESTIGATION FOR ABUSE OF POWER AND CORRUPTION! AND THIS IS JUST BARELY TWO YEARS INTO THE OFFICE AS A FRESH-MAN GOVERNOR!!!SCARY!!SCARY!!*** CHENEY CLEARLY WOULD BE FAR BETTER THAN PALIN!!

I could see many potential sound bites from the debate that the Obama campaign would be able to use in their ads against McCain/Palin. More interestingly, I''ve seen many more ads from the Obama campaign that actually give information about his issues. Something sorely lacking from the McCain camp. The McCain campaign is all about attack ads, they don''t know any other way to play it. So good one Joe!
