Obama Continues Battleground Tour in Pennsylvania

(LANSING, MICH.) - Now that vice presidential debate is over, all eyes are back on the presidential candidates as they continue to campaign in key battleground states. John McCain spends the day in Colorado while Barack Obama heads to Pennsylvania, where he will host a rally in Abington, a Philadelphia suburb.

According to the latest Quinnipiac University poll, Obama leads McCain in Pennsylvania, 54-36, although other polls show a much tighter race there. Obama also leads McCain in Florida and Ohio, according to Quinnipiac. The poll notes that no candidate has been elected President since 1960 without winning at least two of these three states.

However, despite the post-debate boost, Obama’s confidence this week has been measured. During the last couple of days of campaigning, he often dismisses the shout-outs by overly excited supporters who call him Mr. President.

“I’m superstitious,” Obama declared at a rally in Colorado on Monday after someone in the crowd shouted that he will win the election. He did the same yesterday in Grand Rapids.

Although Obama’s schedule has been noticeably light this week, with only one to two events per day, he has campaigned solely in battleground states.

Obama heads to Ashville, N.C. - a red state Obama has been hoping to turn into a battleground - tomorrow evening where he will be preparing for Tuesday's debate rematch with McCain. He is not expected to hold any public campaign events while he's there, however, the campaign indicated that they could put something together quickly.
