Taking The Gloves Off? McCain Supporters Urge Their Candidate To “Just Go At Him”

(CBS)
From CBS News’ John Bentley:
(DENVER) – Despite running commercials that have compared Barack Obama to Brittany Spears and Paris Hilton, as well as alleging sexism over Obama making comments about putting “lipstick on a pig,” the crowd at this women’s town hall here did not believe John McCain has attacked his opponent enough in this election.
“When are you going to take the gloves off and just go at him?” a woman asked, to loud cheering from the audience.
“How about Tuesday night?” McCain answered to more applause, referring to his second debate between Obama next week.
“I respect Sen. Obama for what he has achieved,” McCain said. “I will try to draw out those stark differences between us, and be respectful, because Americans want a respectful campaign and I want you to be proud of my campaign.”
**YOU NEVER GET A SECOND CHANCE TO MAKE A FIRST IMPRESSION.
1. If you find no matter how smart Palin is now, she still gets dissed: **
2. If you find that no matter what we do in Iraq, the Iraqis hate us: **
3. If McCain finds that no matter what he says about the economy now, people think he''''s an idiot on that issue: **
4. If the GOP finds no matter how McCain spins or lies or disowns Bush, people now blame REpublicans, McCain and Bush for the economy**

And that first impression is how people will usually judge and see you. No matter how much lipstick you try to put on it later.

Actually, a lot of the finger pointing came from Palin. I''m an Independent who was really glad to see Sarah not act like an idiot again. But she totally turned me off with her snide comments and little digs--that is not what I want to hear--this is not backwoods local politics--we are in deep trouble. I want questions answered and policies articulated. The wanting "Joe six pack in the white house" mentality is why we are in the trouble we are in right now. I liked some of what Palin gave out tonight, but everytime she stooped to digging and got off issue or smirked--she just made me feel like I was going to need a long, hot bath after she got done. HRC did the same thing, McCain is doing the same thing--though he is trying to cut back--the blasting, and smart azz remarks are falling short this time. That is why McCain lost the last debate and why SArah will lose points in this debate (except among the GOP) the rest of us will be trying to see if she is really answering the questions or involved in "glittering generalities"

But Gov Palin only converted 10% of the control group of voters to McCain/Palin. Biden converted 18% of the same group to Obama/Biden. Every voter counts and with the extra voters Biden swayed McCain''s hole is even deeper now.
Point taken --
It was quite clear that her strategy, when she didn''t know about an issue, was to just break into a preprogrammed campaign speech.
She''s lucky the bar was set so very low for her... anyone else would have been laughed at.
