McCain Reacts To Bailout Failure

(CBS)
From CBS News' John Bentley:

(DES MOINES, IOWA) – John McCain called on Congress to return to Capitol Hill to work on the bailout bill, and accused Barack Obama’s campaign of politicizing the process.

“Sen. Obama and his allies in Congress infused unnecessary partisanship into the process. Now is not the time to fix the blame. It's time to fix the problem,” McCain said in a hastily called statement to the press here today.

“I would hope that all our leaders, all of them, can put aside short term political goals and do what's in the best interest of the American people.”

Earlier today, the McCain campaign did fix the blame squarely on Congressional Democrats and Obama, calling him “out of touch.”

“This is a moment of national crisis, and today’s inaction in Congress as well as the angry and hyper-partisan statement released by the McCain campaign are exactly why the American people are disgusted with Washington,: said Obama spokesman Bill Burton.

“Now is the time for Democrats and Republicans to join together and act in a way that prevents an economic catastrophe.”

McCain’s campaign also pointed to statements by Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi for scuttling the bailout.

“Democrats believe in a free market. We know that it can create jobs, it can create wealth, it can create many good things in our economy,” Pelosi said. “But in this case, in its unbridled form, as encouraged, supported, by the Republicans, some in the Republican Party, not all, it has created not jobs, not capital, it has created chaos.”

“That speech was one of the most reckless acts I've seen from a congressional leader in twenty years on the Hill,” said a senior McCain adviser.

John McCain was for this huge Bail-out Plan before he was against it, and now has changed his mind about changing his mind about being for a bill that everyone is against and he%u2019s not for any negative affirmation on the positive side of supporting any less action then was previously held in regard to opposing if, the bill doesn%u2019t pass, or if the bill passes John McCain will be in favor of, or if failed will condemn the bill as liberal and biased and ALL BILL CLINTON%u2019S FAULT!!

Let me get this straight. John McCain ''suspended'' his campaign (while not really suspending it), claiming that he was going to Washington to help sort out the bailout deal, that was close to getting passed until he decided to get involved, headed to washington, said that he did not like the plan, emboldened house republicans to resist the bill...which resulted in todays failure to pass the bill...which resulted in todays 777point loss on the dow, and over 1 trillion in paper losses...And it is Obama''s fault....hmmm

I get it, he is blaming Obama because Obama failed to rally his house republicans behind the bill? I see, so that''s John McCain''s line of logic. Man he sure is a Maverick. His party doesn''t do his bidding, and his logic is so unique. What a maverick, a maverick who has crashed 5 plans, 1 bailout meeting, and the Dow index....and what a maverick he is.

Perhaps McSame should be asked to help with the economic crisis, as a young man , he lived thru the first great depression. This is the experience he is constantly mumbling to himself.

Pelosi spoke the truth. Republicans don''t believe in accountability. It''s their extreme anti-regulation ideology that got us into this mess.

They will be punished by the voters.

Interesting how McCain can manage to blame Obama moments before saying "Now is not the time to fix the blame." Guess in that now it wasn''t, but a millisecond before, it was.

Nov 1999: Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act guts Glass-Steagall, setting off wave of megamergers among banks and insurance and securities companies. Driving force is Sen. Phil Gramm (R-Texas), who has received $4.6 million from fire sector over previous decade.

May 6, 2008: Bush announces he will veto legislation directing $15 billion to neighborhoods ransacked by foreclosures. Also threatens to veto legislation to provide $300 billion for struggling homeowners (and force lenders to renegotiate some mortgages) because it would be a "burdensome bailout" that "opens taxpayers to too much risk."

Sorry ....I have no money currently being gambled on the stock market and I don''''t see just which American people a $700,000,000,000.00 bailout will be in the best interest of.

Even with your high credit rating, you may find it hard to get a loan for that project you may want because of tight money...

Ah, so let me see if I have this straight; both political parties believe America is on the verge of a tragically severe economic downturn that will likely be eliminated or eased by this bailout legislation, but only if the bailout is instituted posthaste.

And prior to this morning%u2019s House vote, both political parties had leaders standing on both the House and Senate floor publicly stating this morning%u2019s vote was a done deal; it would be a bipartisan affirmative vote for the bailout.

Then after the bailout vote failed, the leaders of one party, which just happens to have a party head constantly shouting %u201Ccountry first,%u201D asserted that a major reason why its party reneged on its promised intent to vote for the bailout was that a leader of the opposite party politicized the vote by mentioning that America%u2019s economic difficulties are a direct result of the last 8 years of GW%u2019s and his administration%u2019s economic policies.

Hmm, they admittedly chose to vote against a bailout our nation critically needs because they do not like the way a member of the opposite party talked about lame duck members of their own party? I guess for some House members, country comes first, after ego.

You got to be serious. Why is everyone blaming Pelosi and her 1 minute speech. Unbelievable. Obama gets the blame for this even when it was mcCain who politicize the whole process and it was his party that rejected the deal. Unbelievable

The Bail Out Bill Failed Because CNN, CBS, MSNBC, ABC, NBC, The New York Times and The Los Angeles Times have failed miserably to hold a few corrupt Democrats responsible for their past illegal activities. While a handful of corrupt Fannie Mae Officials were bribing an equally corrupt handful of Democratic Congressmen and Senators to basically turn their head and allow Fannie Mae to award HUGE compensation packages to undeserving Fannie Mae Officials, the main stream media turned its head as well. As a consequence, once Fannie Mae ignited the storm and proceeded to melt down our entire economy, the Democrats knew they had a political firestorm on their hands. But in order to cover themselves on this incendiary issue, the Democrats demanded that the Republicans bite the bullet and provide cover for the Democrats and help the Democrats clean up the mess. Had the main stream media been willing to lay the problem at the feet of the Democrats, where it deserved to be, the Democrats would be much less willing to require Republican cover and the protection it afforded. The meltdown was caused by CNN, MSNBC, NBC, ABC, CBS, and 2 equally corrupt major newspapers. Watch these two video and see for yourself.
