Dave Hits McCain For Suspending Campaign, Cancelling Appearance

David Letterman was none too happy that John McCain cancelled his appearance on the “Late Show” last night and he spent a good deal of the show hammering the Republican candidate for that – and for his decision to suspend his campaign temporarily.

“This doesn’t smell right. … This is not the way a tested hero behaves,” Letterman said. The late night host also had some things to say about McCain running mate Sarah Palin. “Let’s say there’s a time of crisis and the poor guy, because he’s a little older,” he said. “Then Sarah Palin takes over as president, well she ought to be ready because she’s handled crisis like this in the past. Oh, wait a minute, she really hasn’t handled a crisis like this in the past.”

Letterman intimated that there is not a little political calculation involved with the move. “I’m more than a little disappointed by this behavior,” he said. “ 'We’re suspending the campaign.' Are we suspending it because there’s an economic crisis, or because the poll numbers are sliding?”

More Letterman: “Do you suspend your campaign? No, because that makes me think, well, you know, maybe there will be other things down the road –- if he’s in the White House, he might just suspend being president. I mean, we've got a guy like that now!” Video below:

Man, dave letterman was right on. Such commons sense. He is right....if McCain has to do something, why can''t the great Sarah step in and run the show. I think we all know the answer to that.

Watch the youtube video...it is great

Dave is dead on!!!!

McCain is attending an event in New York City today before heading back to Washington.

McCain says America is burning, but doesn''t rush back to Washington.

We should declare this National Suspension Day. If John McCain can suspend his job as national candidate for the President of the United States, why not the rest of us? It certainly fits within this nationwide, damaging trend of total abdication of responsibility that sadly has been fostered from the top down.

Letteman, another Hollywood elite, wanting to be a world leader because of his lack of accomplishments in life. The only personal accomplishments he has contributed to society is a *** child

Today Thursday Sept. 25th. I saw two deceptive commercials for the McCain/Palin campaign on CBS and ABC in the eastern Iowa area. Am I mistaken in believeing McCain said he would suspend his campaign so he could show his bi-partisen side. Talk about putting politics first McCAin seems to forget his own talking point Country First. There a lot of people in congress that are able to handle this finanical crisis without him and his flip-flop ideas on the economy. McCain and all his lobbist and Wall street friends will try to bail themselves out to their own advantage. All in all John McCain has more a heck of a lot more ties to Lobbist than Obama. Check out the facts before you belive these Rove quality ads.

CBS loses. I will only watch Leno from now on, since Dave''s show has become just another political cog in the leftist media machine. I used to love his humor in the 80s.

Interesting how the Republicans attack the person who says negative things about their celeb. Now they want to Dixie Chick Letterman. My guess is that Dave doesn''t need you cons to keep his ratings. Go watch Leno, his tenure is nearly up, so you should feel right at home.

The only one who has really been in suspension is this week is illusionist David Blaine who has been hanging upside down over a New York ice rink since Monday as part of a 60-hour stunt.
