CBS News Poll: Bush Approval On Economy At All-Time Low

As President Bush prepares for a nationwide address on the financial crisis, a new CBS News/New York Times Poll shows his rating on handling the economy falling to its lowest level ever. Now only 16 percent of Americans approve of the job he is doing on this issue while 76 percent disapprove of his performance. That’s down from a 32 percent approval rating the president registered on the economy in September of 2007.

President Bush’s previous low on this question came in July when just 20 percent approved of his handling of the economy. Bush received his highest marks on the economy shortly after the attacks of September 11th, 2001.

This low economic approval rating is not an all-time low for a president, however. Bush’s father fell to 14 percent approval on this issue in August 1992 and just 15 percent approved of Jimmy Carter’s handling of the economy in July 1979.

President Bush’s overall job approval rating remains low as well. Twenty seven percent now approve of the job Bush is doing as president – the same as last month. Republicans approve of the overall job Bush is doing as President while Democrats and Independents disapprove.

I am reading and hearing alot of agry remarks against Prdident Bush but I just want to know why? The people who we should be mad at are the one''s who voted for him a second time in 2004. We the voters should be responsible in who we vote for. I did not vote for him, so the voters who should be very angry are the voters who did not vote for Bush not the one''s who did.

And it seems like it is happening again with John McCain who lives in the past not the future so shame on the voters who voted for Bush in 2004 and shame on you who want the same from McCain.

This bailout is rewarding the theft and swindle of financing predatory lending practices, and a vote for John McCain would also be a rewarding the party that created the atmosphere in which to conduct these immoral practices.

As we the taxpayers bailout the banks, I hope that we are given a detailed account of where EVERY penny goes, boring yes but necessary to keep our Government honest and to insure that nobody profits on this, lets not forget we are dealing with George Bush, he looks confused and with that silly crooked smirk on his face,we don''t want him and our great leaders to think this money is for them and there retirement plan. Please what does everyone else think?

Funny thing hay, It was called economic growth when these big banks were loaning all this bad debt out with all there deceptive financing plans, now we need to bail them out, are you kidding, my paycheck has not gone up as much as I would like to see, maybe the 700,000,000,000 billion dollar bailout will send me a couple million to help me out, FAT CHANCE I bet, Thank you President Bush for driving this GREAT nation into the ground and slamming us taxpayers yet again. One last thing lets make sure that the ceo''s of these companies are held accountable , lets remember that they have in the past received multi-million dollar bonuses for how well they have run these failing banks, what a joke, millions for failure, please tell me what I am doing wrong in life, my big bonus is to bailout banks, ha ha, so Thank you again President Bush for your great leadership in helping the rich get richer and the middle class get poorer. Three cheers for George Bush, boo, boo, boooooo.

No wonder McCoward doesn''t want to debate!!

He might have to explain why he''s supported the Neocon deregulation program since Raygun was president.

Johnny--you''re just not fit material for the presidency. Sorry. Go back to Arizona.

Worse than Carter -- Oh My. Bush''''s only salvation may be that McCain is worse than he is.

OOPS it appears I may be a day or two premature -- when those die hard pseudo-conservatives find out he doesn''t veto a 700 billion dollar bailout then the defections will start.

Bush/McSane/Palin could all go to hell! Tired of the old Republican policies. Less tax, little gov''t, and stop wastful spending. This is what they have been doing for the last 8 years.

The Bail-Scam is a SHELL GAME TO BUY TIME for the present legistrative branch and executive branch - to retire and shore-up legal manuvers.

WE THE PEOPLE, MUST CALL THE RETURN OF OUR MILITARY TO SIEZE THIS CORRUPT GOVERNMENT REGIME!

The Banking Committee is just hosting a soap opera.

Could this be the same McBush who last week said the economy was "fundamentally strong"? What''''s changed?

Har de har. A whopping 72 per cent of voters on the CNN poll agree that McBush is playing politics in calling for the debate to be delayed.

McCain can pull all the election stunts that he wants. But he cannot hide the fundamental truth. He voted with Bush on all of his economic policies. He along with Bush is on the record as being firmly against regulation of Wall St. We are still living the Bush nightmare- McCain is more of the same. He can run from Bush but he cannot hide.

And we want more of the same by supporting McSame/McPalin??? Are people so blind as not to be to see where the last years have brought us? Confirmed by McSame that he supported McBush over 90% of the time - are we so eager to have more of the same misery that has been cast on us, that we would even think of voting for the McSames? McSame/McPalin are totally unqualified to lead us move out of the darkness, and voting for this ticket would bring such unmitigated disaster that the depression years would look rosy compared to it.
