Behind The Scenes: Biden On Debating Palin

Last week on the CBS Evening News (and right here on Couric & Co!), we showed a little preview of what Democratic Vice Presidential nominee Joe Biden told Katie when they spent a day together in Ohio earlier in the week. In tonight's show, we'll air Katie's full story about going behind-the-scenes with Senator Biden, including his response to this question:

Katie Couric: How is it preparing for the debates?

Sen. Joe Biden: Well, it’s kind of hard to prepare because I don’t know what she thinks. There’s been no – I don’t know a lot about her, so I have to assume for purposes of the debate that she agrees with John on everything.

Biden assumes that Palin must think the same way McCain. Does Biden even realize how he disagrees with Obama on a variety of issues?

I noticed you didn''t call Biden on the dates of Roosevelt''s election. It was 1932, not 1928 as Biden implied.

michaelt302,
Unlike yourself, I have met Joe Biden and heard him speak a number of times, and watched him interact with people. I''ve had a chance to take his measure and see if he rings true, and I will tell you that there is no one more genuine than Joe Biden. He is warm and outgoing, empathetic, self-deprecating, and he has a great sense of humor. He says what is on his mind. He doesn''t walk on eggshells like most politicians.

I have seen him under difficult conditions and he has always been gracious. He is one of these rare people who can be both your next door neighbor and an emissary on the world stage. He has a formidable amount of knowledge and perspective on our relationship to the world.

Palin, on the other hand, for as much as I have seen of her, appears to be a provincial politician, who is far too inexperienced to be VP to an old president with physical problems. She is not at this time suitable for the national/international stage.

If she can''t come out of seclusion and take the heat like other candidates then she has no business in politics anyway, and certainly not as VP to the president of the USA.

FWIW, Biden will absolutely destroy Palin in the debate. This isn''t even close. I don''t care how much you like/dislike a person, if they''re qualified for a job, they get it.

Sarah Palin has proven herself to be Dubya in a dress. She has become irrelevant.

Quote by OneAmerican6:

"If Joe Biden really knows nothing about Sarah Palin, then he knows nothing about the majority of women in America.

Either Joe Biden is being coy, or he is just plain ignorant. "

This logic is hilariously flawed. Are you implying that Palin''s positions are representative of the majority of women in America?

Who does know what Palin thinks? She isn''t allowed to take questions by the press, she isn''t allowed to speak except for pre-scripted messages that were written by Bush''s speech-writer for her. All we know is what we hear about from the multitude of stories coming out of Alaska. I agree - she would be tough to prepare for.
