Palin To Meet With Afghan President And Henry Kissinger

(CBS)
From CBS News' Scott Conroy:

(ORLANDO, Fla.) As she seeks to bolster her foreign policy resume, Republican vice-presidential nominee Sarah Palin will meet with Afghan President Hamid Karzai and former U.S. Secretary of State Henry Kissinger in New York City early next week, according to a senior campaign aide.

The meetings coincide with the annual opening of the United Nations General Assembly, and Palin is expected to meet with other world leaders, as well.

Palin’s meeting with Karzai will come amid concerns in Afghanistan over rising civilian casualties caused by American bombings. President Bush is slated to meet with the Afghan president later this month to discuss ways to reduce unintended deaths.

Palin spent Saturday meeting with campaign aides and three of her five children, who flew in from Alaska on Friday.

She has a rally scheduled on Sunday at The Villages—a planned development in central Florida—but Palin’s public schedule has been notably light.

While the campaign has been tight-lipped about the governor’s private activities, she is thought to be brushing up on foreign affairs in advance of her trip to the U.N. and preparing for her only debate against vice-presidential nominee Joe Biden, which will take place in St. Louis on Oct. 2.

Tuesday’s visit will not be the first time Palin has visited New York City, according to a campaign aide.

Oh, if I could just be a fly on the wall for one day... this meeting is sure to prove priceless in comedic material. "Valley Girl Meets the President of Afghanistan"... you just couldn''t cast it any better than this.

She can pretend all she wants to be informed, but a couple of meetings won''t change a thing. A pig with lipstick is still a pig. Even one with expensive, elitist eye glasses.

The Palin dog and pony show gets more preposterous every day. I agree with DogBitez. A more unlikely meeting could hardly be imagined: Karzai, the battle hardened president of Afghanistan, and Little Bo Peeps from Palookaville Alaska!
Ah Christ! I can%u2019t stop laughing!

And can''t tell where to find them.
Leave them alone,
And they''ll come home,
Bringing their tails behind them.

Obama doesn''t have any more foreign policy expertise. He just recently went on his first foreign trip. Feedback from U.S. soldiers was that Obama was there for only 1 hour and only talked to the soldiers when he was being filmed. He is a fraud. He has always been and always will. He''s lying as much as Bill Clinton did about Monica.

This is a laughable attempt to bolster a candidate who should not be anywhere near the presidency.

Just because she meets with these people (note it is under the careful direct control of McCain) does not mean she gains ANY foreign policy credentials. She''s still the nice lady who can see Russia from her front door. Not anywhere near qualified.

It is funny you should say this. The truth is I serve overseas and people love America because of the promise it represents. Plus they know that the President only has a shelf life of 1 or 2 terms. Also, if you are going to speak about Obama''s, McCain''s or anybody elses visit to the troops, stop trying to act like you are receiving reports from us. I have actually been in their midst and both are inspirational individuals. The troops are diverse in their views, as is every other reasonable group in American society. Stop trying to assume the role of spokesman of the troops. Stop playing politics in our name.

Say what? Obama doesn''t have any more foreign policy expertise than Palin? He just recently went on his first foreign trip?

Get a clue or stop lying!

Prior to this past summer''s trip to Kuwait, Iraq, Afghanistan, Jordan, Israel, London, Paris, and Berlin, Obama also made official trips to Eastern Europe, the Middle East, and Africa as a member of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee.

AUG 2005: His trip to Russia, Ukraine, and Azerbaijan focused on strategies to control the world''s supply of conventional weapons, biological weapons, and weapons of mass destruction as a first defense against potential terrorist attacks.

JAN 2006: He met with the US military in Kuwait and Iraq and then visited Jordan, Israel, and the Palestinian territories. At a meeting w/ Palestinian students 2 weeks before Hamas won the legislative election, he warned that "the U.S. will never recognize winning Hamas candidates unless the group renounces its fundamental mission to eliminate Israel."

AUG 2006: He traveled to South Africa, Kenya, Djibouti, Ethiopia and Chad. In a nationally televised speech at the U of Nairobi, he spoke forcefully on the influence of ethnic rivalries and corruption in Kenya. The speech touched off a public debate among rival leaders.

Add in Obama''s Columbia B.A. in political science, with a specialization in international relations; that he lived for a few years in a foreign country as a child; and his unofficial/personal foreign travel in his mid-twenties.

And Palin--who received her first passport just last year--what''s her exposure to and knowledge base about peoples and places beyond Alaska?

She can shake hands all she likes with Karzai and Kissinger--that''s not going to erase her lack of education, experience, and obviously parochial and jingoistic worldview.

Palin''s ignorance is matched by her arrogance--that''s a dangerous combination.

The Democratic Party Leadership should feel ashamed of themselves.

$300 million dollars has been spent introducing Barack Obama to the public over the course of 19 months, and still we aren%u2019t sure of anything about him except that he supposedly represents %u201Chope and change%u201D.

$300 million spent on one person%u2019s quest for the Presidency backed by a Party that purports to represent the less fortunate. And in these devastating economic times when the country is at its most precarious, no less.

He has the right judgment to point Pakistan as the most likely place to hunt Ben Laden
He has the right judgment to involve more diplomacy on the first place for any foreign affair issue
He has a right judgment not to baste on Russia regarding Georgia Issue.

That is enough to put Obama''[s judgment above McWar stupid paranoia.

That is really great. I hope that she takes along John McCain for both meetings.

President Karzai can break out the map and explain the geography of the region, especially since John McCain mistakenly thinks Iraq and Pakistan share a border. And Sarah once thought she was in Iraq, when she wasn''t. So Geography 101 is definitely in order. If there''s time Karzai can explain the difference between Sunni and Shiite muslims too, so Johnny Mac doesn''t confuse them again (and again...)

Then Kissinger can give a good International Diplomacy 101 lecture to them both about the importance of having the world''s lone superpower talk to other countries, even at a basic level. Kissinger can also introduce them both to the 4 other former Secretaries of State who called on the U.S. to talk to Iran BEFORE we do something stupid, like bomb them.

So, it''s great news for the McCain camp to bone up on these basics at the same time that high school kids are back in school learning about the same things. It really shows a great commitment to education.

My goodness, more proof that many of Obama''s millions of supporters are actually computers. Certainly the humans are paid, and come in sextuplets.
Kissinger is evil, but Brzezinski, Obama''s handlers, is no better. Both volunteer other people to be murdered by the millions, just in different places.
My money is on Palin as having the conscience to resist his "advice." But who knows. Obama? That empty suit is bought and sold to Brzezinski. A more compromised individual could rarely be found, but of course MSM is too busy chasing Palin''s teeanged kids rather than investigating the serious allegations against Obama''s fitness. The irony of this situation almost passes belief and will be the stuff of legends once this mad time is passed and the truth comes out.

Actually, it was not Kissenger who brought down Nixon, it was he and his White House staff. Kissenger really was a good Secretary of State ~ very smart and educated.
Seriously doubt if Kissenger will be too impressed with sarah palin''s qualifications for anything , but bet he wouldn''t mind ogling her behind with McCain. Do you suppose the "first dude" minds all that ogling?
