Biden Scolds McCain, Bush On Economy

(CBS)
From CBS News' Ryan Corsaro:

(MAUMEE, OHIO) - Joe Biden continued to hit hard on John McCain over issues relating the economy this morning, saying his economic philosophy is “bankrupt along with Lehman Brothers.”

Biden blamed cuts in regulations and oversight by the Bush administration for the tumbling of Wall Street numbers, insisting it was the fault of a conservative economic policies.

Biden told the crowd that this was not their father’s Republican party, saying, “This is a different group of cats out there, from Bush to McCain.”

“Who are these people? Where do they come from? What possible right do they have to say to anybody, particularly us, that they know how to manage our money and manage the economy?”

Speaking at a rally on a small downtown street, Biden chided McCain, the president, and a Republican controlled congress for the majority of the last eight years for their reaction to market drop.

“All of a sudden it's 'My goodness, there's greed on Wall Street! My goodness, we need common sense regulation. My goodness!” mocked Biden.

“Folks, if John McCain admitted the truth, the truth of what's going on, if he admitted what has happened here, he'd be forced to stop doing the same things over and over again."

Biden had a message for corporate financial institutions who are now hoping for a bailout from the federal government.

“If we're gonna bail you out, if we give you an opportunity, if we give corporations the inside track, then you better damn well open your books to us and let us see exactly what you have,” Biden demanded.

“We better know exactly what's going on, that's transparency, if you don't want our money keep your books closed. You want our money to bail you out, then you better let us know what you're doing and what you own.”

Biden scolded Republicans for measures he says favor trusting big business to go with less transparency.

“How many of you trust the health insurance industry to take care of your needs on their own? Raise your hands. I got one person [who] raised their hand. I got also a bridge I got to sell you here and guess what, it's in Alaska and it goes to nowhere."

Republicans had their chance and they blew it with their extreme policies. Remember, you have already lost; try again in a few hundred years!

Oh Joe... if you could a give speech that wasn''t riddled with errors, I could take a break from blogging.

The bottom line: everyone is calling "regulation!" from the rafters.

In a few years, people will wonder where our options as consumers went and why everything we buy is labeled with a "Approved by Government" sticker.

After the Alaskan legislature voted 14-0 in a bipartisan vote to investigate recent abuses of power on the part of Palin and her governors office, the former Bush justice dept attorney has gone to Alaska to squash the proceedings. His latest fable is that the Alaskan legislature is like Joe McCarthy''s anti-liberal witch hunt. That headline was draped on CNN today, as they repeated the false exaggeration.
No, McCain and Palin, it isnt at all like hunting for commies in the movie industry. It is the duty of the legislature to protect the people of Alaska from a governor who uses her position to harm innocent people, anyone who stands in her way.
Her claim of open governance is a fake story.
Her actual behavior is brutish and corrupt.
"Dont use the state email system", she ordered her staff to use personal email accounts for state business: so no one can follow the actual orders and plans of the governor!!!
The word in law for that order to use personal email to avoid normal accounting is calumny.
Fraud, for the purpose of avoiding detection.

Did you know that Palin instructed the employees of the governors office to use personal emails, to avoid detection of their behaviors and plans, by the legal auditors of the state email system, in regards to all state business? This is incredible calumny. (Etymologically any form of ruse or fraud employed to deceive another, particularly in judicial proceedings)

Republicans confronted Barack Obama of inflating his record after he claimed Tuesday to have proposed the foundation for the $150 billion economic stimulus package passed by Congress early this year.

A New York Times report from Jan. 12 noted that Hillary Clinton was actually the first candidate to offer a short-term stimulus proposal, including $70 billion for housing and other aid and $40 billion in potential tax rebates.

Obama%u2019s plan focused more on tax rebates for working families, and in that respect was more similar to the final package passed by Congress.

The Obama campaign reasoned, in a statement published by ABC News, that the bill that passed in February %u201Cwas centered on rebate checks to the broad middle class along the lines of what Obama proposed.%u201D
But a Washington Post story from Jan. 23 suggested that leading Democratic candidates were kept out of the stimulus negotiations altogether.
