Palin Gets “Warmest Welcome” From The Coldest State

(CBS)
From CBS News' Scott Conroy:

(FAIRBANKS, Alaska) Sarah Palin’s homecoming to Alaska felt more like a victory party than a campaign rally, complete with confetti shooting out into the crowd of over 1,000 people who had come to get a glimpse of their state’s favorite daughter.

After two weeks away from the 49th state, Palin was clearly overjoyed to be back in more familiar surroundings where people “know that up here, it’s a snow machine, not a snowmobile.”

Minutes after her newly minted campaign plane—“Straight Talk 2”—touched down from a 10-hour flight from Washington, D.C., Palin was greeted on the runway by her daughters Piper and Willow and infant son Trig.

(CBS)

She walked a short distance to the hanger where she spoke for about 15 minutes to the cheering throngs.

"I knew the coldest state would give us the warmest welcome, so I thank you so much,” she said.

(CBS)

Aside from the occasional sprinkles of local flavor, Palin stuck to her stump speech, as she has done throughout her time on the campaign trail. But there was one small—but perhaps telling—change to her standard remarks. Instead of delivering her usual line about putting the Alaska governor’s private jet on eBay, Palin said simply, “the state’s luxury jet, it’s sold.”

Palin has previously fallen under some criticism for not pointing out that the jet didn’t actually sell on eBay and instead ended up being dumped for a net loss.

On Thursday, Palin will speak at the deployment ceremony for the 1st Stryker Brigade Combat Team, 25th Infantry Division at Fort Wainwright in Fairbanks. The governor’s 19-year-old son Track is a member of the unit that is being deployed for training for an Iraq tour of duty.

The deployment ceremony was previously thought to be closed to the media, but a press release issued by the U.S. Army indicates the event is open.

If you want this country to continue onto the horrible path it is currently in due to the Bush/Republicans then I urge you to vote for McCain/Palin. The liars and most unqualified candidates in this country''s history.Palin can have all of the spotlight she wants, however the spotlight will die down very soon and she will soon realize she has nothing left to talk about except the same old rhetoric. She will show herself as the empty and nothing to offer candidate. The speeches that have been written by others, not by her and the interviews she is being coached on is proof that she is full of nothing but lies and is greatly unqualified. She calls herself a Wal-Mart Mom, however in one way or another some woman are Wal-Mart Moms.Does this make her a better person? No, it does not. It''s just another ploy to reel in vulnerable and scared mothers who just want their check books to last so that they can feed their families. Palin is a joke, thief, liar; and another thing, it is horrible she is using her child, who has a disability, for political gain. I hope all parents and especially woman who are on the fence or who are even thinking about voting for her because you feel that you can relate to her, I strongly urge you to consider this, she is only playing you all like a fine violin. She is not in this for your interest. She is in this for her own interests. Read the FACTS.

HUSSEIN,,, THE RACIST BIGOT SEXIST PIG,,,

From Dreams of My Father:

''I ceased to advertise my mother''s race at the age of 12 or 13, when I began to suspect that by doing so I was ingratiating myself to whites .''

From Dreams of My Father :

''I found a solace in nursing a pervasive sense of grievance and animosity against my mother''s race.''

From Dreams of My Father:

''There was something about him that made me wary, a little too sure of himself, maybe. And white.''

From Dreams of My Father:

''It remained necessary to prove which side you were on, to show your loyalty to the black masses, to strike out and name names.''

From Dreams of My Father:

''I never emulate white men and brown men whose fates didn''t speak to my own. It was into my father''s image, the black man, son of Africa , that I''d packed all the attributes I sought in myself , the attributes of Martin and Malcolm, DuBois and Mandela.''

From Audacity of Hope:

''I will stand with the Muslims should the political winds shift in an ugly direction.''

Obama admits he is a Muslim

IF HUSSEIN BECOMES PRESIDENT,,,

YOU WILL HEAR THIS SPEECH OVER AND OVER AND OVER AGAIN,,,

JUST LIKE YOU DID IN THE 90''s

"We will do whatever it takes, for as long as it takes, to find those who killed our sailors and hold them accountable."

the 1993 World Trade Center bombing,,, inside job

the 1995 bombing in Saudi Arabia, which killed five U.S. military personnel,,, inside job

the 1996 Khobar Towers bombing in Saudi Arabia, which killed 19 and injured 200 U.S. military personnel,,, inside job

the 1998 bombing of U.S . embassies in Africa, which killed 224 and injured 5,000,,, inside job

the 2000 bombing of the USS Cole, which killed 17 and injured 39 U.S. sailors,,, inside job

talk is no substitute for action,,,

kkklowntoon just gave us the same old tired speech and did nothing else,,,

"We will do whatever it takes, for as long as it takes, to find those who killed our sailors and hold them accountable."

Raflin01,
This kind of meanness doesn''t help. When there are namecalling and lies on both sides, many people think that both candidates are equally at fault. That happened recently in our WI Supreme Court race.

McCain and Palin have lied repeatedly. Obama has kept to the high road. No namecalling, no lies. Please don''t tarnish him with your meanness.

The only time I have heard anybody talk of asking "serious questions by a serious journalist" is when Palin was nominated. What this means to me is that between Obama and Palin, she is more qualified than he is to be president of the America and the so called serious journalists can not stand it. The media is doing Obama no good by insisting on digging dirt about a vice presidential nominee. This contest is between McCain and Obama let the two tell us how they differ from each other so we can be able to make up our minds on who to vote for.

Why is everyone praising this lady? She doesn''t even know the job of the vice president (stated by her). I will just come out and say it. The Republicans chose her because she was the only women who was pro-life. The rest of the women were pro-choice. How can you say that this women is honerable and trustworthy if you only met her once McCain. Also she is accused of abusing her power. Three years ago the judge warned her about using her power for unpolitical issues. Also she first supported the bridge to nowhere, but when she was elected she dismissed the idea. Another thing that offends me is the fact that she welcomes hunters to kill wolves. On T.V. they showed hunters in Alaska shooting at a wolf from a helicopter. I think the fact the Americans agree with this is crazy. Also she is setting a bad example for children. Americans already have an issue with violence in American and yet they show pictures of her with a gun in her hands. That is showing are children that its okay to have a gun and that its okay to kill for fun.

This uppity woman thinks that because she wears lipstick and has not aborted any of her children that she has the qualifications to be president. That''s right, I said PRESIDENT. I''m an actuary and I''ve run the numbers on John Sydney McCain III and there''s a 43% chance that he WILL NOT survive his 1st term should he be elected. That number goes up to 76% mid-way through what would be his 2nd term. So, do I want Sarah Palin to be a heartbeat away from the presidency less than 2 years removed from being the mayor of Wasilla Alaska?
Who wrote this script? This is like a Hollywood comedy gone horribly wrong and the scariest thing about it is that on the top two issues facing America right now, the Economy and Energy independence, she is 100% in agreement with the Bush administration. She is George Bush with lipstick. Talk about the proverbial pig.

I would love it if Palin would unattach herself from McCain''s hip, and speak for herself. I can hardly wait for the first SERIOUS interview from the press. Only then will we see what this woman is made of. Until then, she is just an election ploy, and a funny one at that. C''mon Sarah, open up, tell us what you really think without a script. You owe us that. Deliver already.

What do all of these statements have in common?? They were all posted today Sept. 11 in response to various articles on CBS. What does it say about us as Americans if people have nothing better to do than post this stuff on a day when the country is remembering the thousands that died on 911. Spirited debate is one thing... but this is just embarrassing. You should all be ashamed.

McCain''s campaign manager Rick Davis said on Fox News Sunday they will continue to limit press access until the media shows some "deference" to Palin.

Really?

"Deference?"

Defer to these facts, my friends:

Palin is NOT a reformer who hates prork. She LOVES pork.

Palin slopped up $770 million dollars in pork projects putting Alaska in the top three porker states.

Palin did NOT oppose the "Bridge to Nowhere." She supported it. She only "opposed" it when the Feds yanked the project, and she kept the bridge money for other Alaskan porkers.

Palin is a right winger. She opposes abortion even in the case of rape, incest AND even if the health of the mother is in jeopardy. She favors shooting wolves from airplanes and has addressed her husband''s Alaska Independence Movement affiliation which calls for a vote on Alaska separating from the United States.

In short, Palin is the vindictive, secessionist-leaning right-wing earmark queen from Wasilla, my friends.

And no amount of GOP closet stuffing is going to keep that from coming out.

Conservative?

Feh.

She LOVES our tax dollars.

Feminist?

Feh.

She is to feminism what Velveeta is to cheese.

In short, Palin is a phony. A joke and an insult to voters.

I love it too much to see a fraud like McCain-Palin get into the White House.

They are part of the crew that has wrecked this place, and I am hertily sick of them, and those who apologize for or excuse them.

Therefore I plan to exercise my 1st Amendment rights -- while I still have them -- and tell the truth. It''s my duty as an American.

Obama and McSame might take this day off.

I won''t.

If McCain-Palin can drive a gun-toting social conservative/moderate Evangelical like me into the Democratic camp, look for a very good November for Obama-Biden.

Here''s why:

McCain talks a maverick line.

But it''s all talk.

His campaign, with its seven lobbyists and its corporate rear-kissing was invented by CEOs in East Coast board rooms.

He''s no Western maverick.

He''s a corporate elitist meat puppet.

And he''s going to lose.

I believe all those who support Senator Obama can help get him elected by printing out as many copies of the booklet as you can and distributing them to friends and neighbors. ...a comment from an Alaskan in Juneau.

Palin is a ruthless two faced lying crook. She promised that she would not continue with her devious plans to move the state capital from Juneau to Anchorage/Wasilla and then as soon as she was elected began moving all the key state positions from Juneau to Anchorage/Wasilla. This with the full and uncaring knowledge that it will financially ruin thousands of working homeowners (and their children) plus destroy businesses in Juneau.

She is the biggest liar, sneak, and political crook since Nixon.

It has already been established by explicit facts that she fires or eliminates anyone who stands in her way.

She claims to be a maverick but was put in office by bribes to the state treasury from the oil and energy companies (who have been grooming her for years to directly represent them at the top levels of government).

Please believe someone who has seen her selfish politics in action. You definitely don''t want this scheming opportunistic woman a heartbeat away from the Presidency!

The paragraph below was taken from the CBS "Rules of Engagement" for posting comments. My thought is that we should be hitting the little "Report Abuse" link for for those who engage in profanity and abusive language. (On Both sides)

Here''s the plain English: no libel, slander, no lying, no fabricating, no swearing at all, no words that teenagers use a lot that some people think aren''t swearing but we do, no insulting groups or individuals, no ethnic slurs and/or epithets, no religious bigotry, no threats of any kind, no bathroom humor, no comparing anyone to Hitler, Stalin or Pol Pot. We expect heated, robust debate, but comments should be polite and civil. We consider this to be public space so behave and write accordingly.

Biden''s son is being deployed to Iraq in a few weeks.

Biden doesn''t USE his son''s deployment for political gani.

Biden HARDLY MENTIONS his son is being deployed.

Palin is SLEAZY politician who has NO HONOR. She uses her kids for political gain every day. Family values my f''in a*s.
