New McCain Ad: Obama Favors Sex-Ed For Kindergartners

The McCain campaign has released a new ad, "Education," that suggests Barack Obama favors teaching sex education to kindergartners. A McCain aide tells CBS News the ad will air on Fox News and in select markets in Pennsylvania, Iowa, Missouri, Ohio, Minnesota and Wisconsin.

"Education Week says Obama 'hasn't made a significant mark on education,'" an announcer says as the spot opens. "That he's 'elusive' on accountability. A 'staunch defender of the existing public school monopoly.'"

The announcer continues: "Obama's one accomplishment? Legislation to teach 'comprehensive sex education' to kindergartners. Learning about sex before learning to read? Barack Obama. Wrong on education. Wrong for your family."

Campaign spokesman Robert Gibbs told CBS News the legislation Obama supported provided information to children on what to watch for when with an adult they don't know, such as inappropriate advances or touching.

“It is shameful and downright perverse for the McCain campaign to use a bill that was written to protect young children from sexual predators as a recycled and discredited political attack against a father of two young girls – a position that his friend Mitt Romney also holds," Obama campaign spokesman Bill Burton said in a statement. "Last week, John McCain told Time magazine he couldn’t define what honor was. Now we know why."

Obama should be teaching "***-ed" to his former Pastor, Rev Wright ... who is having an affair with a 37 year old white woman ... reported in the New York Post and on FOX!

Obama supported teaching young children to protect themselves from pedophiles.

Does John McCain have a problem with that?

If stations held their advertisers to a higher (or any) standard of accuracy and decency, this type of ad would be banned. What it says, after all, is that the McCain/Palin campaign considers the viewers to be stupid or gullible or hateful enough to buy into this ridiculous distortion.

It''s not about sexual predators - you morons! Obama supported to amend the Illinois state''s Education Code to require that all *** education courses be comprehensive and medically accurate, and include instruction on the prevention of sexually transmitted diseases as well as HIV/AIDS. It also addresses abstinence and removes requirement to talk about heterosexual marriage. So - What does this have to do with Sexual Predators? NOTHING!!

If he really cared about predators, then why was he the only vote for SB 485 (Illinois, 1999) that offered "good time" for *** Offenders in the County Jail?

And, why did he refuse to vote on SB 609 (2001) that would restrict porn shops near any schools, day-cares etc?

BECAUSE HE IS A SICKO and a liar!!!

John McCain may have served his country honorably, but he is running a very dishonest campaign. McCain is using tactics against Barack Obama that are little different from the campaign of lies and smears that George Bush used against him. One can see that Bush has run the country very similar to way he ran his campaign. There is little reason to believe John McCain and Palin will do any different if elected, which means the Bush years will continue.

WHERE IS THE MEDIA ON MCCAIN? As McCain has said multiple times- "They are my base".

The GOP is SO VERY GOOD AT DISTORTION and creating FALSE ISSUES.

WHY? This is the only thing the Republicans can RUN ON. They''ve screwed up the country so badly they need distractions. SO THEY MANUFACTURE THEM.

Karl Rove is at work again. Total slime.

Republicans should be ASAHMED.

Is there any level that McSame won''t stoop to, in order to get elected?
Why don''t Obama and Biden take off the gloves and expose McSame for what he is, and his VP pick for the total whack job incompetent she is.
Negative campaigning works. It worked fine for the Repubs. last week, now McSame is leading. Negative campaigning works because people are too lazy or stupid to learn the facts for themselves.
Go Obama. Go negative.

How come Republicans are attacking Obama left and right and the Obama campaign continues to go soft? Why for Christ Sake is the Democrats underestimating Palin? It was Obama''s star power that propelled him over Hillary who was more popular before the primaries. Obama seems to be making the same mistake Hillary made - underestimating Palin''s star power. Obama supporters are in for a big let down unless the campaign wakes up!

The %u201Ceducation%u201D commercial McCain released today is probably the most despicable political advertisement I have ever seen. Any parent with a child who was a victim of sexual predators must wonder what happened to the honor McCain once had. Some people think this type of education should be left to parents, but the evidence is that many young children are victimized by family members.
What was McCain thinking when he approved that ad? He should apologize and beg for forgiveness. Maybe he thinks his POW experience excuses his insensitivity like it excuses his serial adultery.

The bill states that IF you teach *** ed to kids in grades k-12 then it must be comprehensive. It doesn''t say that Illinois is REQUIRED to teach *** ed that''s left to the Board of Education, not the Senate!! All it says is if you do, then you need to teach about aids/hiv, transmitted diseases, etc.... The ad acts as if children in kindergarden in Illinois are being taught *** ed because Obama passed a bill mandating that schools teach *** ed or that parent''s have to have there kid attend!! That''s a *** lie and THEIR disgusting!! Also, predators rape children of all ages, not just those who can read and statistics show that most predators of young children are related. So, those who can read should be aware but, those who can''t should be ignorant?

How low can the McCain campaign go? The ***-ed program was to promote teaching young children how to avoid predators and pedophiles and the McCain campaign made it into something dirty and disgusting. The republicans are pulling their same old scare tactics and the question is will the American people wake up and stand above it or will they cower and succumb. I vote to stand above it! I will not let them scare me into 8 more years of failed policies. It is time to turn the page, stand up and say ENOUGH!

This ad needs clarity and accruacy from the media, especially from the news outlets that choose to advertise it!! At this moment, all CBS is, is a puppet for the McCain Ad. They don''t have to spend ANY money advertising it on TV, we can ALL watch it play out on the CBS website!! Of course, there is no counter balance to the AD but, puppets don''t think for themselves do they.

Now we have this year''s swift boating. If Obama doesn''t hit back, HARD, in the next 48 hours, the election is over. McCain wins using possibly the dirtiest tactics in the history of Presidential politics.

It makes me sad that McCain has become the very thing he used to fight against. It makes me angry that the Republicans are willing to say and do absolutely anything to win (but we''ve seen that before). It appalls me that the Obama campaign doesn''t seem to understand that it needs to fight back without restraint.

We''re rapidly losing our democracy, and so many people are cheering on the process because they''re mistaking partisanship for patriotism.

I dont call it going soft, you HAVE heard of the old saying of "I wont even give that credibility by responding to it"
Why should an educated man like Obama respond to these childish outlandish false attacks? The ads show McSame for exactly what he and his party of Repubiccrooks stand for- win at ANY cost, even with the LIES they are famous for now. Same lies about the Dems planning to throw out tens of thousands of FLAGS after their convention- just more BS designed to rile up the idiots out there.
Thats all politics has become- attack ads, I dont care what the OTHER guy says or does or what you claim he said or did, I want to hear what *YOU* as presidential hopeful and candidate plan to do for *ME*- a taxpayer who pays your dam SALARY, I want to know what *YOU* plan to do with taxes, the war, Immigrants, health care and more, dont tell me about the OTHER guy!

You have the nerve to call Palin incompetent when your own candidate is going for the Presidency but has less experience than the vast majority of past Presidents, including a complete lack of military experience? Did you watch Sarah Palin''s speech? She''s a pretty face, but there''s WAY more to her than any Dem is giving her credit for.

I can%u2019t recall ever being so outraged by a political maneuver from any candidate, right or left. People should absolutely vote their interests, but NOBODY should accept something that crosses the line as the aforementioned ad does. With this ad, John McCain and his camp have shown they have absolutely no moral compass. The ad twists an effort to protect children from predators into something sick. It is disgusting, deceitful, manipulative AND dangerous. For crying out loud --- what parent doesn%u2019t want their child or grandchild (or any others who might not benefit from having a loving and/or educated family at home) to know how to be safe, to know what is inappropriate from people they%u2019re otherwise taught to trust? What kind of candidate stoops so low? Shame on anyone who puts out this kind of trash%u2026 and shame on anyone who is so desperate to believe in their candidate that they don%u2019t both acknowledge something like this ad as the outrageous filth it is AND call their candidate out on its inappropriateness. This ad crosses a line beyond anything I%u2019ve ever seen.

A study funded by the US government has concluded that conservatism can be explained psychologically as a set of neuroses rooted in "fear and aggression, dogmatism and the intolerance of ambiguity".
As if that was not enough to get Republican blood boiling, the report''s four authors linked Hitler, Mussolini, Ronald Reagan and the rightwing talkshow host, Rush Limbaugh, arguing they all suffered from the same affliction.

All of them "preached a return to an idealised past and condoned inequality".

I tried to research McCain''s family history when he was born in Panama- if you look at the avaiable data I could never find a birthdate for his older sister. If you look at the wedding date for McCain''s parents - they eloped against the will of her parents, although McCain''s father appears to have organized the event, to Tijuana Mexico and got married in a bar. Now I can find where the sister was also born in Panama but no date- almost like it was scrubbed from the record. If you look at father McCain''s deployment date to Panama, John''s birth date and the wedding date - well I''m sorry I don''t have the dates here but I deleted the research because I decided I really didn''t care but you can find the dates on the net- then this Palin thing... So maybe it''s just a GOP thing-

I decided to research the claim made by this ad, and I discovered that it was nothing but defamatory, and twists the truth in a way that is shameful and downright immoral.

The actual bill, BTW, is called SB00099, not SD 99. And you can look at it at the Illinois General Assembly website:
http://www.ilga.gov/legislation/BillStatus.asp?DocNum=99&GAID=3&DocTypeID=SB&LegId=734&SessionID=3&GA=93

In short, the bill was designed to add sexual-predator awareness education and comprehensive ***-ed to children in the 6-12 grades, and first aid and alcohol/drug/peer pressure awareness in 5-12 grades. It never targeted children in grades lower than 5th grade, and it required parents to comment on the curriculum and opt-out measures for the AIDS and ***-ed components for parents who did not want their children to learn this material.

This ad is vile, and defamatory. If you are as offended as I am, ask the networks, the FCC and FTC to take it off the air!

Perhaps a petition would be effective in accomplishing pressure against the McCain Machine. Send a petition from those of us who are equally appalled by these tactics to the most receptive media. CBS: SHAME ON YOU FOR USING THIS MISLEADING SALACIOUS TITLE FOR THIS STORY. YOUR REPEATING/ENDORSING MCCAIN''S ATTACK ON OBAMA. DO YOUR JOB AND REPORT THE NEWS, DON''T TRY TO SLANT IT.

The media needs to challenge McCain about how misleading and demeaning this ad is.

This is the most offensive presidential attack in history, worse than Willie Horton, worse than swiftboating. Calling somebody a pedophile is worse than calling them a coward. Let''s not ignore the racial implications of this ad. They are invoking the "black man as sexual predator and threat to white women" stereotype with the image of Obama with a photograph of little white girls. In some images, it seems that they have actually darkened Obama''s skin. Even the movement of his photograph over the school images is designed to make him look like he''s physically moving, and thus stalking the children.

I expect the media to stop running scared from McCain and Palin and do some actual reporting and truth-telling here.

I expect the Obama campaign to come out with something stronger than a printed statement. They need to sue for libel, demand the withdrawal of the ad, and demand an apology to Obama and his family.

This is a new political low and the victims are not only the Obama family, but American children. I''m shocked by how vicious this is.

Americans who vote for the McCain Palin ticket and its non-existent economic plan deserve to lose their houses.
