Obama's Nevada Ad Hits McCain On Yucca Mountain

The Obama campaign has released a new TV spot that will air in the two biggest Nevada markets: Las Vegas and Reno. The ad hits John McCain over the Republican's position on storing nuclear waste in Yucca Mountain.

Yucca Mountain has been a controversial issue in Nevada for years, and it took on added urgency in June when the Bush administration filed a formal application for a construction license to build a nuclear waste dump.

The Obama ad highlights McCain's support of storing nuclear waste in at Yucca Mountain and accuses the Republican of not being "worried about nuclear waste in our state, only in Arizona."

It then shows a 2007 TV interview in which McCain was asked if he'd be comfortable with nuclear waste coming through Arizona.

"No, I would not," McCain says.

Americans are going to continue to vote for these results of the Conservative Agenda?

Perpetual War, Mismanaging of Federal Treasury Funds, and Fear Mongering.
Increased Governmental $pending while cutting Taxes to the Wealthy.
Unfair Taxation of the Middle Class.
High prices for GASOLINE, Electricity, and Everything Else!
High Medical Costs and Prescription Drugs.
Pollution.
Invasion of Privacy, and disregard for our Constitution.
Corruption, Corruption, Corruption.
Religious Hypocrisy and Abuse of Tax Laws.
Politicalization of the Justice Department.
Degradation of our Infrastructure.
Continued export of American Jobs to overseas Slave Labor.
Decline in US stature and respect of the World Community.

The Conservative Dream for America has been a complete nightmare.
The McCain is the same%u2026

The policies of no development of our own resources has been advanced in Washington and fueled by environmentalists for the past 30-40 years. That is why we are in the energy mess we are in now. If we, as Americans don''t demand that the trend be reversed, we will watch while Russia, and China go after every carbon energy source on earth, and we will be left picking our noses and wondering what happened.

It is past time we forge full-speed ahead in the development of every option we have available including nuclear. That of course means, that we, the people will need to support nuclear waste disposal.

In 2005, Barack Obama Voted Twice To Fund The Yucca Mountain Nuclear Waste Repository. "Passage of the bill that would provide $31.2 billion in fiscal 2006 for energy and water development projects, including $5.3 billion for the Army Corps of Engineers and $25 billion for the Energy Department. It also would provide $577 million for the Yucca Mountain nuclear waste repository." (H.R. 2419, CQ Vote #172: Passed 92-3: R 50-3; D 41-0; I 1-0, 7/1/05, Obama Voted Yea; H.R. 2419, CQ Vote #321: Adopted 84-4: R 48-2; D 35-2; I 1-0, 11/14/05, Obama Voted Yea)--from the McCain campaign.

"That is the problem, most republicans want nuclear power plants but do not want to have store the waste in their state." It''''s not because Republicans don''''t want to store nuclear waste in their states, it''''s because many if not most states lack the geology to safely store nuclear waste, which remains active for thousands of years. That''''s why Yucca Mountain is being built and WIPP in New Mexico. Naturally, there have been and will be many challenges to Yucca from many sources. It is naive to think each state can build a Yucca Mountain or WIPP facility. Do some research.

Oh for pete''s sakes, half of Europe operates on nuclear power!

It can be done, if it''s done right!

The idiocy of this whole ad is that Obscamma himself was for it, against it, for it, and now claims to be against it!

He''s a SCAM artist!

John McCain is dangerous for women....a fellow adulterer

What does John McCain and Edwards have in common? John McCain lied and cheated on this first wife (committed adultery) to mary Cindy McCain a very rich pretty second wife. Since his second marriage there have been more reports of affairs-more adultery. John McCain offered up his wife during a biking campagin event to participate in a wet tee contest. No respect for his wife and women. John McCain voted against equal pay for women. He voted against suporting birth control measures for women . He will overturn Roe vs Wade which he said he will do. He is dangerous for women. In Gods eyes John McCain committed a sin and continues to do so ! Oh maybe he has stoped until maybe he wins the election then back to his old tricks again. America wake up! I forgot about the $520 dollar shoes and his wife spending $75,000 in one month on clothes......He is not one of us!!!

I thought Dems were supposed to win in a landlside this year. I guess BO''s balloon has sprung a leak.

The Rasmussen Reports daily Presidential Tracking Poll for Saturday shows that the race for the White House is tied%u2014Barack Obama and John McCain each attract 44% of the vote. When "leaners" are included, it%u2019s McCain 47% and Obama 46%. With leaners, the candidates have been within one point of each other for nine straight days (see recent daily results). Tracking Polls are released at 9:30 a.m. Eastern Time each day.

That is the problem, most republicans want nuclear power plants but do not want to have store the waste in their state.
I say let them all the nuclear plants they want to but any state that allows nuclear plants to be built their state should have to provide a central storage place for the waste their state produces, that also includes all nuclear waste.

WHAT IT SHOWS IS THE FACT THAT THE YUCCA MOUNTAIN MAKES SENSE FOR SECURITY PURPOSES. YOU DONT WANT SOMEONE PULLING UP FRONT WITH A TRUCK FULL OF EXPLOSIVES BLOWING HALF THE MOUNTAIN UP WITH ALL OF THE RADIOACTIVE WASTE. THIS WAS RECOMMENDED BY HOMELAND SECURITY. THIS SHOWS OBAMMAMAMA HAS NO FRIGGIN CLUE AND HAS NO RIGHT TO THINK HE''S READY TO BE THE PRES.

US Law very clearly stipulates: %u201CIf only one parent was a US citizen at the time of your birth, that parent must have resided in the United States for at least ten years, at least five of which had to be after the age of 16.%u201D

Barack Obama%u2019s father was not a US citizen, and Obama%u2019s mother was only 18 when he was born, which means although she had been a US citizen for 10 years, his mother fails the test for being so for at least 5 years prior to Barack Obama%u2019s birth.

In order for her child to have been a natural-born US citizen, his mother would have had to be 21 at the time of his birth.

In essence, Mrs. Obama was not old enough to qualify her son for automatic US citizenship.

His mother would have needed to have been 16+5 = 21 years old at the time of Barack Obama%u2019s birth for him to have been a natural-born citizen.

Barack Obama instead should have been naturalized, but even then, that would still disqualify him from holding the office of President under current law.

At best, Barack Obama is only a naturalized US citizen.

Hillary could be the nominee if this is not resolved.

NATURALIZED CITIZEN - One who, being born an alien, has lawfully become a citizen of the United States Under the constitution and laws.

He has all the rights of a natural born citizen, except that of being eligible as president or vice-president of the United States. In foreign countries he has a right to be treated as such, and will be so considered even in the country of his birth, at least for most purposes.

At best, Barack Obama is only a naturalized US citizen.

This is an issue that must be clarified before the election.

Naturalized citizens are ineligible to hold the office of President as is the case with Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger.

You are so full of it!!!

Why do you think young (pregnant) Mexicans come here to have their babies?
First of all, for them its free, and secondly, their babies are US citizens, they are called "Anchor babies"---age does not matter---if a child is born here, they are citizens.

Read the 14th Ammendment.

McCain was asked if he would be comfortable having nuclear waste driven through Phoenix. He said "no". No one would want waste driven through any major city, even Las Vegas, whether you support Yucca Mountain or not. Nuke waste has to go somewhere, though. Would Obama want nuclear waste driven through Chicago? Of course not. The fact is McCain supports nuclear energy and Obama doesn''t. Ads like this will bite Obama in the reactor.
