GOP Spotlights Frequency Of Obama's Iraq Visits

The Republican Party is looking to turn the frequency of Barack Obama's visits to Iraq into a campaign issue.

Yesterday, McCain said Obama "has no experience or knowledge or judgment about the issue of Iraq," and said he would be open to the two rivals traveling to the country together.

"I would also seize that opportunity to educate Senator Obama along the way," McCain told the Associated Press. He also suggested Obama, who visited Iraq in January of 2006, "has wanted to surrender for a long time."

This morning, Talking Points Memo got a response from the Obama campaign to the notion of a joint trip, first suggested by Sen. Lindsey Graham, a McCain backer.

"John McCain's proposal is nothing more than a political stunt, and we don't need any more 'Mission Accomplished' banners or walks through Baghdad markets to know that Iraq's leaders have not made the political progress that was the stated purpose of the surge," Obama spokesperson Bill Burton said. "The American people don't want any more false promises of progress, they deserve a real debate about a war that has overstretched our military, and cost us thousands of lives and hundreds of billions of dollars without making us safer."

McCain isn't letting up, however. Here's what he said in Reno today:

“Senator Obama has been to Iraq once. A little over two years ago he went, and he has never seized the opportunity, except in a hearing, to meet with General Petraeus."

McCain added: "Senator Obama is the chairman of an important subcommittee that has the oversight of what's going on in Afghanistan. He has not held one single hearing on Afghanistan where young Americans are in harm's way as we speak."

Responded the Obama camp: "On the day after the former White House press secretary conceded that the Bush administration used deception and propaganda to take us to war, it seems odd that Senator McCain, who bought the flawed rationale for war so readily, would be lecturing others on their depth of understanding about Iraq."

This afternoon, meanwhile, the Republican National Committee unveiled its tactic for spotlighting the issue – a countdown clock ticking off the time since the Democratic frontrunner went to Iraq.

“Barack Obama has only visited Iraq once – and that was 871 days ago," RNC Chairman Robert M. “Mike” Duncan said in a statement trumpeting the clock. "Obama’s failure to visit Iraq, listen and learn firsthand, and witness the surge’s progress demonstrates weak leadership that disqualifies him from being Commander in Chief.”

President Bush and Vice-President Richard Cheney never served in a war, but still lead American Soldiers to fight for a cause that never existed. The entire Iraq campaign has been notably misguided and mismanaged costing the United States $Billions of Dollars and many thousand lives.

George W. Bush claimed that he was a religious man, but then has continued to act in very un-Christian manner (Cheney is just plain evil). The Hypocrisy and Corruption displayed by the Republicans have put Americans in a quandary about what to do with what we%u2019ve started in Iraq. John McCain (who doesn%u2019t know much about Iran at all) wants to continue the misguided agenda into a war with Iran.

Conservative ideals, ideology, and religion have killed.

Obama is against Iraq war because it is not the war him and his church wants to be fighting.

He has voted to fund the war, which means is pro-war.

He just used the fact of the others voting for war, because he did not.
Not that he is truly against war.

He want to fight in Iran or in Pakistan. Which is probably worse. it would be a war of wars which would be a holy war, and could last forever. Plus would bring terrorism and war to American soil.

Personally he knows nothing of war, what is happening in iraq besides the spending on the war.

Obama''s ideals, ideology and religion may get us all killed.

McCain Needs to Listen to the Top Naval Commander, who Agrees with (Diplomacy over War with Iran)

U.S. Commander: Iran War Would Be ''Disastrous''

U.S. Navy''s Persian Gulf Commander Says War With Iran Would Cause ''Aftershocks'' in the Region

www.abcnews.com

RSS The top U.S. Navy official in the Persian Gulf warned in an interview with ABC News that war with Iran would be "pretty disastrous," with "echoes and aftershocks" reverberating throughout the region.

Vice Adm. Kevin Cosgriff, the top U.S. Navy official in the Persian Gulf, told ABC News that war with Iran would be "disastrous," and that the ideal way to interact with the country is through diplomatic methods.

Nobody I''ve spoken to suggests that going to war with Iran is a good thing," Vice Adm. Kevin Cosgriff told ABC News.

"The preferred path by far is the (Diplomatic Path), keep working with the international community to bring the right sort of pressure to bear on the Islamic Republic of Iran."

For years, there has been a swirl of speculation about the prospects of war, as the United States has accused Iran of arming militias in Iraq, trying to develop nuclear weapons and supporting terrorism.

Note: In 5 Years, We can`t Handle Iraq, now what makes you THINK, we can Handle Both (Iraq & Iran)...

Then All You Sideline, Arm Chair, Gung Ho `Patriots` Enlist NOW and Prove me and the Smart people of the World ...WRONG

According Whitehouse Spokes Liar Scott McClellan the Bush Administration misrepresented the threat from Saddam Hussein. But, what we neglect to realize is that the Saddam Hussein did have a weapon of mass destruction and lots of it. The United States is slowly imploding from the cost of the price of oil. The Republican Party has facilitated the eventual destruction of the US as we know it, and it seems that they''re grabbing all the wealth the can before the United
States self destructs such as all great empires have.

What a hypocrit! Actions speak louder than words- He is coward and a phoney. He speaks of UNITING but cannot go with a Republican to share the burden of anaylzing the situation because he is afraid it is a pilitcal stunt?? Perhaps OBAMA is A POLITCIAL STUNT!! It makes me mad, not because I am a fan, as I prefer McCain, but because so many have fallen for the Democratics lines of BS.

Obama isn''t interested in anything except his own personal agenda. Go to Iraq? He is still looking for those other seven states.

Oh for heavens sake, Obama and Clinton are both lawyers. They could waive application of the technical DNC rules and settle all the legal matters with with one simple document ... That is, if they both ACTUALLY WANTED to count all the delegates.

The DNC just doesn''t want Obama to sue it. Obama could still fix all of this by agreeing to count all the votes.

Also, the DNC Committee must do what is best for the party so the Democrats do not lose in November.

If Barack doesn''t like it he can sue them. That does not mean he will win the lawsuit, but so What???

Who wants a candidate who gets the nomination by holding the threat of a lawsuit over the DNC anyway?????

you can do what you want, vote for inexperience and we''''ll see what happens. but as your children are burning in war after war in the middle east maybe you''''ll understand what is the price of freedom. maybe it will be quicker and he''''ll send his nuke her and bury your children.

My children? Don''t you mean us? What makes you think Bush had any experience at the beginning of his presidency? His terrible judgement sent us to invade Iraq for no reason in the first place. We need good judgement in the white house. McSame wants to continue Bush''s failed policies. McSame would be a good military advisor -nothing more. If you are so -gun ho- then pick up a weapon and go serve in Bahgdad.

Obama''s not interested in the WAR! He''s interested in getting his hands on the corruption money flying around Iraq.

Response: You Mean Like All those Billions Lost by Bush & Cheney''s Haliburton Money... I Mean Billions !!!

That''s why his plan of action is to PROP up the already failed, corrupt puppet Bush Iraqi government!

Response: Like the President Bush, You Voted for (2 Terms) & You also Supported.

Posted by RowdyWicca: Donating to Obama''s campaign! The two of them can''t WAIT to get back over there!

Response: You mean like All that Iraqi Money, that McCain & Joe lieberman, keep Criss Crossing back to get their Flaky, Grubby Old Hands On...

why should Obama be visiting Iraq, John McCain and George Bush made a mess so they should be visiting Iraq to clear their mess, no need for Obama to help them wave their victory flag of mission accopmplished in their phony war. Whilst they are at it they should remember all the young American men and women, who have died in their senseless war. Mcsame are deep in it.
