Clinton Maintains She Holds Popular Vote

(CBS)

From CBS News’ Ryan Corsaro:

JUNCTION CITY, ORE. -- Hillary Clinton continues to say she is ahead of Barack Obama in the popular vote, despite questions over whether or not her campaign's numbers are misleading in making that claim. The Associated Press reported yesterday that the math used to arrive at that conclusion make the assertion "a stretch at best."

Undaunted, Clinton sat down at a kitchen table with families to talk about issues in relating the economy, blaming a large part of the effect Americans are feeling on high oil prices.

While Obama and John McCain have been taking swipes at one another, Clinton went after President Bush for meeting with Saudi Arabian leaders, saying his trip is to “basically have tea with them while people are suffering,” and claiming the Saudis could drop the price of oil with a “flick of the pen.” She said that the behavior of corporations like oil businesses become greedy because of human nature, saying “that’s just the way they are.”

She maintained it was the government’s job to leverage their power, and that it was the responsibility of Washington to build an alternative energy market that loosened the grip of oil companies and influence by foreign countries. “The government has to create the market and once they create the market, it's off to the races,” said Clinton.

At the end of the meeting, one of the women sitting with Clinton, Sandy Mehlbrech, turned to her, saying “Please stay in this race.”

Clinton appeared slightly uncomfortable by Melbrech’s sincerity and desperate tone, and explained she was ahead in the popular vote and would carry on campaigning, having "50,000 more votes, which very exciting, because that’s important.”

Question have risen as to the math which allows the Clinton campaign to say they have the popular vote, which disregards votes for Obama in some caucuses and counts votes by Michigan and Florida voters, whose primaries are not recognized by Democratic National Committee this year due to penalties from changing their primary dates.

Obama is fine. Yet, he is "politics as usual." I have witnessed no change so far. However, he seems to be the perfect excuse for white men not to vote for a woman, despite that she (with Florida and Michigan) still has the popular vote

I''ve seen enough of this Presidential campaigning to appreciate the intelligence of both Democratic candidates, but I see integrity only in Obama. Hillary is certainly a woman full of energy but short in ethical values and principles. I would not want such a leader for our country. She certainly has proven to us that she was willing to do "whatever it takes" to win this race!
He calls Obama elitist, when he clearly is a unique individual who through his own effort rose from a modest background and through education was able to channel his talents. Besides, he worked helping those who had not had the same opportunities he did.
Through this campaign I''ve seen in him a man of great capability and non-compromising integrity, sincerely focused on finding solutions to our national issues of economy, education and health insurance, while getting us out of the Irak mess and into more diplomatic approaches to international issues.
It seems to me that in voting for Obama we have the chance to make History... and what a change it would be from the last eight years!

NOT TAKEN SERIOUSLY BY THE DNC

Action speaks louder than words. I was on another

web site last night and the Hillary supporters were

talking about REGISTERING AS REPUBLICANS AND NOT

COMING BACK TO THE PARTY UNTIL HILLARY GETS THE

NOMINATION.

This way it would be harder for the DNC to just

brush us off by saying we''''ll eventually all rally

around Obama......No Way, Nobama!!

I''''m going tomorrow and register as a Republican. If

you''re not already registered as a Democrat, you can

first register as a Democrat and a day or two later,

register as a Republican. It will show up as a lost

member on the Democratic Membership Roll by the

end of the week.

Sounds like a plan to me!!
