Clinton Touts Her Support Among Whites

The issue of race may once again be creeping back into the forefront of the Democratic primary battle.

In an interview with USA Today, Hillary Clinton cited an AP article "that found how Sen. Obama's support among working, hard-working Americans, white Americans, is weakening again, and how whites in both states who had not completed college were supporting me."

After Tuesday's results in Indiana and North Carolina seemed to have deflated Clinton's chances of winning the nomination, the New York senator's revamped message is that the delegate math "may be complicated, but the electoral math is easy" and that her campaign is "winning swing states."

Her frank comment about her support among white voters seems designed to bolster the argument that she's better positioned to win swing states with heavy white, working-class populations like Ohio and Pennsylvania than Obama is.

In Indiana, Clinton won the support of 60 percent of white voters, and in North Carolina, she beat Obama among whites by a margin of 61 percent to 37 percent, even though she lost the state by 14 percent, according to CBS News exit polls.

she''s saying now what she and Bill have always thought but were afraid to say publicly. If she were Republican, this would be expected. But for democrats, this is a big anathema.

Hillary had been the front runner in this Presidential race, and at times she was measuring a 30 point percentage advantage over any of either party%u2019s candidates. Negative attack campaign tactics and outlandish statements has seen her lead dwindle down to where Madam Clinton is now on the edge, and very possibly beyond the point of overcoming the deficit in delegate support for the Democratic Presidential Nomination. This Campaign was hers to lose, and I feel she has been completely responsible for the outcome.

Wow! Hillary is quite a woman! She has single handedly brought the womans movement back 50 years, and the civil rights movement back to the 60''s.
Unfortunately, once again she proves herself to be a serial fabricater. The facts are that Barack Obama has been steadily gaining in the white vote. And why does she mention that the whites are ''hard working'', I sure she wouldn''t want to imply that Blacks are all lazy bums. Gosh, she would be a terrific leader for our country. Bush and Karl Rove couldn''t have been any more divisive if they tried.

So now we can add African Americans to Hillarys list of voters who don''t matter. The list so far consists of African Americans, people under 35 years old, people from small states, people from states that hold cuacuses rather than primaries, states that traditionally have voted Republican, Democratic activists, educated ''elitists''.
And I had believed that all voters mattered! But I guess now we know, only the voters who have voted for Hillary matter and the only states that matter are the few states that Hillary has won.

Hillary is a Scorpio%u2026People born under the sign Scorpio usually do not lose because Scorpios pursue their goals relentlessly with passion and stubbornness. It doesn%u2019t matter to a Scorpio what the next outcome may be because, they welcome endings and rebirth. Hillary will drive this to the bitter end, to then hope to rise again on another day. She can''t help herself.

She was the front runner. Unfortunatly, she has strengthened Obama''s message by doing what she knows: playing politics. Had she not supported the holiday gas tax, I would still believe that the race was still up for grabs. Now, I''m sadden to think that "hard working white americans" and "uneducated" are all the votes that are in her corner.

Hillary math,

40% of white voters plus 90% of black voters does not equal 60% of white voters.

It does in the popular vote.

You are the one spinning this, not Hillary. She is not saying that AA voters are unimportant. But they are a much smaller fraction of the population than are whites. If a candidate had to choose between winning 60% of the 88% who are white, or 60% of the 12% who are black, which would he/she choose ?

libra127,

And that''s not spin? I''d prefer to win 50 plus % of the total vote which is what her opponent has done and she has not.

I don''t know why we need to slice and dice the electorate in that manner anyways but the Clinton camaign always does and then points the finger at her opponent afterwards.

Take a lesson from her husband. He also won 90% of the black vote combined with losing a majority of the white vote and he was elected twice,

The truth is that those "hard-working white Americans" have been voting mostly Republican for quite some time and will most likely continue to do so whether it''s Obama or Clinton as the nominee.

It would be diffrent story for Hillary voters to come to Obama side, however they will not stand by someone who has terror related ties, went to a church that supports hamas and gave Louis Farakahn a lifetime achievement award, Michelle Obama is no better, she is actually worse than Obama.

Yes, of course. Any candidate would prefer to win 50+% of the total electorate. Hillary has come mighty close. Obama is only ahead by something like 87,000 out of a total of some 32 million votes (incl. all voters).

Slicing and dicing the electorate into different demographic groups is what news commentators and politians always do. The Obama campaign does it too. There''s no need to be offended by it. It is not saying that some groups of voters are important and others are not.

Obama only leads in delegates because there is a racial devide, and 90 % of black people voted for him mostly based mostly because they want one of their own in White House%u2026 well that%u2019s fine but%u2026%u2026.

here is the question!

Who do you think black people would vote for, if Obama was not in the race at all

Hilary of course !!!!

So here it is in front of your eyes the Answer Hillary with all her votes plus Obamas black vote %u2026%u2026

And she would eat McCain for breakfast

But Sadly only 40 % of Hillaries supporters would vote for Obama ,, making him extremely weak opponent against Mc Cain

So even Obama is loved by democrats and media and is winning due to support from black people against Hillary for nomination

SADLY HE DOESN NOT STAND A CHANCE AGAINST MCCAIN

SO IT LOOKS DEMOCRATS WOULD RATHER HAVE OBAMA BE NOMINATED, EVEN IF HE WILL LOOSE AGAINST MCCAIN
THEN HILLARY WIN THE PRESIDENCY FOR DEMOCRATS

AND WHOEVER DOES NOT SEE THIS IS STUPID

Senator Clinton can win the white votes that make up the majority of white voters that Senator Obama may very well lose in the general election.

In addition, Senator Clinton would have the support of the vast majority of black AND Hispanic voters in the general election. She would also do well in Florida and Michigan where I doubt there is anyone who would vote for Senator Obama after how he has so fiercely opposed counting their votes in the primary.

Another consideration is the caucus results which are not an accurate representation of the majority of voters, but constitute at least 14 of the states Senator Obama won.

Senator Clinton is without a doubt the stronger Democratic candidate in the general election and this race is not over.

This whole thing has gotten distasteful on Hillary''s part. She is really suggesting that people decide this in a racist manner. This is (though blunt) the racial code words again. But this time from her not Bill. So now I say to myself did I really ever have any idea of what these two people were all about? I don''t think so. They are both racists underneath. Did Bill only use them for his gain when he was President but now that his wife is a candidate these tactics are okay? Very much lacking in character and integrity.

Why do people get accused ''racists'' when they are speaking the truth? why is it that it is ok for 91% of the Blacks to vote for an AA and these Blacks are not called racists? If it is ok for the blacks, then it should also be ok for 91% of non-black to vote for the non-black candidate. Obama''s campaign manager has used the term ''white votes'' before, yet it is not ok for Clinton to use?

Let%u2019s play by the same rule and Obama and his supporters should stop the double talk.

Obama%u2019s win in NC proves beyond any doubt that he is a racially-based candidate. He can%u2019t win the general election with just the blacks and the young. It would be another %u2018Tsongas%u2019 election! Clinton%u2019s win in Indiana, by a slim margin, also raises the big question why Obama lost a state that he is supposed to win!
The media continues to be anti-Clinton. Her win should be presented in the proper context of the quality of each of these candidates%u2019 electability!

If we go by some of the assumptions here if black and minority voters would vote for Obama but not white voters for Obama then which race of Americans has the racial issue? White Americans, or so it seems. Doesn''t anyone think that perhaps we should feel shame and work to get past it?

Ah but those are not all the facts. Barack Obama made inroads in Indiana among white voters. Andrea Mitchell (a respected reporter) said that in PA 13% of white voters said race was an issue in their choice. African-Americans were not voting in this way at the beginning. It was far more evenly split and many African American delegates were undecided (Mr. Clyburn for one) until Bill Clinton made his commentary. Then they coalesced behind Clinton. And why wouldn''t they. The difference is that Hillary and Bill have been using a distasteful rhetoric and philosophy of playing the race issue in a reprehensible way. I am white and I can see it from a mile away. Is that how she wants to win a nomination? Playing to people''s innermost prejudices? I wouldn''t want it.

Every time you have a black candidate, you can be rest sured that they cast their vote by 92%. There is no point to pay any attention to them.

Yes Hillary go for the American votes minus the black. The black votes can''t get any better in the general election.

The black community goes for a scratch ball candidate which is a shame. They vote for color rather than substance.

NBC stinks. The left-wing liberals show us nothing but profanity and vulgarity.

"For the party, of the party and by the party." The communist party in American benefits from the incompetence of Bush attempts to steal and fix the election with an empty suit.

Should OBAMA luck in the election, the black and the young would face the cruel reality, an incompetent president who is only ''PRESENCE'' and provides you nothing but speech. A fat increase in tax for the middle class. An international humiliation in foreign affairs...

That 92% number just isn''t accurate. Remember Al Sharpton? I don''t think what Hillary MEANT to say was exactly what she said. She mangled her English a bit by saying "hard-work Americans, white American" impliest that the Americans that are hard-working are white. If she would have said "hard working, white Americans" we would not have been having this discussion. Pay attention i English class :-)

The only reason Hillary has not pulled out yet is obvious.

She has LOANED her campaign nearly $12 million dollars; at the moment there is not enough money in her campaign to repay her, if she quits then the donations stop, which means she has a problem recovering her millions.

However if she is clever she can continue and keep making requests for donations from foolish Clinton supporters.
Once enough gullible people have made donations and there is enough money to pay her back THEN suddenly she will announce that she is quitting for the good of the Party !

Does that make sense to you Clinton supporters?

Now go to her website immediately and pay back her loans!

"Clinton Touts Her Support Among Whites"

I need to do more research, I don''t recall reading about Hillary Rodham living in a Trailer Park! We may need to start calling her garbage mouth! This is the same error Sen. Clinton made when speaking carelessly about Dr. King when she lost the African-American Vote after holding a lead of 52% to 48% over Sen. Obama. Her recent nuclear remarks about obliterating Iran were equally careless! Intended or not, Sen. Clinton is starting to send out bad communication vibes not well suited for a potential Head of State. People liked Bill Clinton and Hillary benefited, what we are seeing now is that Hillary is not Bill!

Poor Hillary. She has really lost herself. Bill was the one who started the race issue. Black voters moved over to Obama after his remarks and who could blame them. Some people are saying reverse racism but it really isn''t. Who can blame a minority for wanting someone of their race to be President when it has never been done before? I certainly don''t. African-Americans may be voting for Obama because he is black but they aren''t voting against Hillary because she is white. There is a difference. But if Andrea Mitchell''s report is right, race is an issue for white people. So now Hillary whose campaign has stirred the race pot and divided people against one another says" white voters won''t vote for him, pick me". Is it only me or is there something wrong with that picture? It''s reprehensible. I hope that the voters of West Virginia do the right thing.

"America is about 54% White and fading fast. Soon Hispanics will be the majority culture in the U.S.!"

You''re an idiot. Hispanics are 15% at best, and of those, 7% claim to have "white" heritage and will easily be assimilated into the general culture.

And, even in the best case (for you) scenarios, will occupy about 25% of the population (half of those being WHITE hispanics, mind you) by 2050, that is, if illegal immigration is allowed to continue full force, and it won''t be.

Just wanted to inject a sense of some reality.

If you believe that you are ill informed! Hispanics can''t be counted because they cheat big time, officially 15%, unofficially 30% or more!, collectively non-Whites make up close to 46% of the U.S. population, I didn''t mean to imply Hispanics did but non-Whites which include Hispanics! Whites just recently started having babies again in record births and now make up about 54% of the U.S. Population as of right now and in case you haven''t been keeping track, the bulk of the White population died recently! Many claim White heritage on applications whether its true or not because they think it gives them some kind of advantage, and why would they think that? hmmm. lol

The press and Obama are the only people calling this primary over. I have never, nor has my community ever heard of anything more ridiculous or absurd.

I am from a community of older white Americans. I am 58 years old and am very concerned about the bias shown by Obama supporters and the media against Senator Clinton. The questions most asked by my community is, how do the Democrats expect to win this election without the white middle class vote, white men and women and the older voter?

Senator Osama is embarrassing them as their candidate. He doesn%u2019t represent their values in his church or past relationships with his pastor. Not do they enjoy watching his condescending attitudes to the middle class of Americans. This elitist attitude pales in comparison to his beliefs

We need to continue voting. It was less than two weeks ago that Reverend Wright was in the forefront. The total repercussions of that issue have not been felt to this point.
By rushing to the decision that NC was the key state to determine his elect ability is absurd.

In light of Sen. Clinton''s recent comments regarding race and gender, I consider them to be political and divisive. They are unwarranted and without merit. OBAMA leads and will continue to lead in the most states won, popular vote as well as delegate count. At a critical time in our nation''s history when the country is at war, our economy is failing we need to come together as a country, as one nation and one people. We need to change our political landscape from the traditional politics of divide and conquer. If not we fail. As gasoline prices continue to sky rocket, and job losses are a high we must move forward as one country, one people in solving the problems of this nation.

Is Hillary your girl? Even now is it more obvious why every thinking person must revisit your support of her candidacy? Are you really a progressive, a Democrat? At what point, even if you are a supporter do you just cringe and say no to this woman? I once labeled her the Freddie Kruger of American Politics bringing her Nightmare on Main Street, USA to a town near you!. But I take that back, I think that Hillary resembles more "The Bride of Chuckie". Hillary Clinton has proven what I have always thought about the Clintons. They see the country in blacks, whites, latinos, poor people, working people and then the people who they suck up to and get their money from. Hillary & Bill are working class predators who prey off the fear and insecurity of the working classes and the intellectually undernourished, both of whom who are too busy trying to survive to verify the veracity of Clintons statements and the extent, depth of her FRAUD. At this point, if anything is clear is that Hillary cannot scare up enough white votes to counter balance the revulsion that alot more people have towards her and her campaign. The bottom line is that FEAR & RACE is all Hillary has left. It is time the "VOTE FOR THE BLONDE (dye), BLUE EYED (colored contact lenses), White (her skintone yes) LADY" Campaign comes to an end.
