Obama: I Want to Meet Voters, Not Debate

(CBS)
From CBS News’ Maria Gavrilovic:
INDIANAPOLIS -- Barack Obama today defended his decision not to debate Hillary Clinton in Indiana or North Carolina, saying that he needs more time to campaign.
“We've got nine days to try to campaign and meet as many voters as possible,” he told reporters. “So rather than being in a studio, I want to make sure that we're reaching out to folks where they live, answering their questions and having as many interactions as possible.”
He said Indiana is an important state in the upcoming May 6th primary where he and Senator Clinton are in a statistical tie. However, Obama refused to say how damaging the loss of the Indiana primary would be to the future of his campaign. “I’ll let you guys prognosticate,” he said.
This morning, Obama attended church service at St. Luke’s United Methodist, the same church that Sen. Dick Lugar, R-Ind., attends. Obama told voters yesterday that Lugar is type of Republican he would consider working with if he is elected president.
“Dick Lugar and I have worked together closely,” he said. “He and I worked together on nuclear proliferation issues, we traveled to Russia together, we have tried to prevent weapons falling into the hands of terrorists that could do us enormous damage. I consider him a friend and I think he is one of the finest senators that we have. So he is an example of the kind of person where I want to be able to work across party lines.”
This is the question you get when George Stephanopoulos gets the questions on "the minds of Democratic voters" from Sean Hannity: "Does Rev. Wright love America as much as you do?"
You wonder why news is losing viewership? You''re irrelevant to our lives.
IF HE CAN''''T EVEN DEBATE HILLARY...HE WILL BE AFRAID OF TERRORIST.
WHAT A WIMP OBAMA IS.
WE NEED HILLARY...SHE IS A FIGHTER.
The sooner the race if brought to an end then Barack Obama can take on McCain before we have four more years of Bush!
handed too him
Hillary had more popular votes than Obama...and has won all the BIG states with electorals needed to beat McCain in Nov.
Hillary will be President.
He could not possibly get more time with the people, answering their questions, than in a nationally televised debate viewed by millions right "where they live".
-and I voted her into her senate seat. Fool me once... NEVER again. Never.
Obama is leading in number of delegates won;
Obama is leading in number of states won;
Obama is leading in number of popular votes won;
Obama is leading in number of the caucuses won;
Obama is leading in every demographic;
Clinton is leading among the senile;
Clinton is leading among the uneducated;
Clinton is leading among the stupid;
Clinton is leading in number of lies told.
Hillary supported oil companies, Iraq War, NAFTA, lobbying. She''s been caught in several lies and lacks integrity. Her vote got us into this illegal war that is costing "us" $30 billion a month. Her legislative accomplishments pale next to Obama''s. It''s no wonder superdelegates are defecting to Obama and he is supported by the greatest minds in politics.
Obama is a decent man. He could attack Hillary on these and many other faults of hers, but he doesn''t. Did you know she was romantically linked with a Black Panther and helped get him off from murder charges years ago?
Vote Clinton for more of the same and lies. Vote Obama for progress and positive change with no lies and someone who can beat McCain in November.
OBAMA 08
Hillary will be President.

28 other Democratic Senators voted for the war resolution, including Obama supporters John Kerry and Jay Rockefeller.
In 2004 when Obama was running for the Senate he was asked how he would have voted. He said, "I don''t know". Also in 2004 he said he did not think there was "much difference" between himself and President Bush on the war.

This statement you refer to misrepresents Obama''s remark on his position of the war from 2004 on.
"On Reliable Sources, Howard Kurtz claimed that in a 2004 Chicago Tribune article, Sen. Barack Obama "said there wasn''t much difference between his position and George Bush''s position on the [Iraq] war." But Kurtz left out three key words from Obama''s quote in the Tribune -- "at this stage" -- as well as the context of the remarks, both of which indicate that Obama was discussing how best to stabilize Iraq from mid-2004 onward, not claiming agreement with Bush on the war itself."
How everyone else voted is separate from how Obama voted.
It seems Clinton supporters like to "misrepresent" and "misspeak" like she does. Misleading viewers who read these posts is doing a gross disservice to Americans and indicates someone who may be unpatriotic. With Americans facing soup lines in December, we all owe it to one another to be as truthful as possible in these critical times.
Or, is honesty and integrity just words in a the dictionary?

Obama gave a valid reason not to debate at this time. No other candidate has ever debated as much as Obama to date, especially with a candidate who is behind in the overall race and has lost credibility among those who matter.
Obama does better when he is face to face with voters, and you and Clinton know that. Obama has been decent, respectful and accommodating toward Clinton. He needs to move forward with his agenda and not hers. She''s trying to distract him.
Rather than attack Obama with childish, irrelevant statements, why not present valid issues here so readers might consider your points?
From reading the misrepresentations and distractions here that have no validity, it''s no wonder China and India far excel in science, math and overall education than Americans.
I guess that''s why more uneducated folks vote for Clinton. They don''t know "truth" from fiction.

Oh, so Obama was essentially agreeing with Bush in 2004 that the best avenue was stay over there in Iraq, right?

lol, Spoken like a true Obama elitist...in bull ***** style!
He is also afraid of what questions he will be ask..
There is so much we don''t know about him and the things that we are finding out are scary as hell.
What we are talking about here IS NOT about politics and the differing
views concerning issues.....this is about the potential literal destruction of
this country by our enemies and our inability to defend ourselves against those
attacks.
This is a very short (52 seconds) video by Barak Obama in his own words
about how he plans to destroy our defense capabilities if elected.

%u201CBlack theology refuses to accept a God who is not identified totally with the
goals of the black community. If God is not for us and against white people,
then he is a murderer and we had better kill him. The task of black theology is
to kill gods who do not belong to the black community. Black theology will
accept only the love of God which participates in the destruction of the white
enemy. What we need is the divine love as expressed in black power which is the
power of black people to destroy their oppressors here and now by any means at
their disposal. Unless God is participating in his holy activity, we must reject
his love.%u201D

This really blows-can''t I just run some more TV ads?
More and more it seems Bill and Hillary believe they are the owners of the Democratic party.

- Hillary may have more political experience than Obama, but old Hillary, with 35 years of experience and the advice of an ex President behind her, still voted to go to war in Iraq.

See all 31 CommentsLike Obama, and like millions of ordinary people, she knew that the Iraq threat was a pack of lies but the problem was that she had her eye on the future Presidency; and I think she did not want to be painted as someone who is afraid of war just because she is a woman, this would have damaged her future presidential bid; so she chose the political expedient thing to do, lets go with the flow, lets not rock the boat.
So, to fulfill her personal ambitions, she now has the blood of 4000 US servicemen on her hands and she can never wash that away, no matter how she spins it.
Even to this day, she never uses her own judgment; she says whatever she thinks the audience wants to hear and changes her stance according to the state she is in. That%u2019s why polls show that voters consider her to be the most dishonest politician.
If Hillary is the nominee I would reluctantly vote for her; but I prefer to have a leader who has the integrity to stand by their beliefs rather than go with the flow, even if that means they have to stand alone in a crowded room.
