Clinton And Obama's Icy Meeting

(CBS)
From CBS News' Fernando Suarez:

GRANTHAM, PA. -- Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama had an awkward encounter at a forum on faith and compassion held outside of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania tonight. The icy meeting between the two came just minutes after Obama took Clinton to task for her ongoing attacks over comments he made at a fund-raiser last week that middle class Americans were “bitter” over their economic situation.

Obama told a crowd at a rally before the forum that Clinton “knows better. She knows better, shame on her. Shame on her. She knows better!” Obama also went on to accuse Clinton of using Republican talking points to attack him.

The candidates, who appeared separately at the forum hosted by CNN and Messiah College, had their first meeting on the campaign trail since a debate in Austin, Texas over a month ago.

Clinton, who opted to go first, was asked about Obama’s comments from last week.

“Well, he will have to speak for himself and provide his own explanation,” Clinton said. “Someone goes to a closed door fund-raiser in San Francisco and makes comments that do seem elitist, out of touch, and frankly patronizing. That has nothing to do with him being a good man or a man of faith. We had two very good men and men of faith run for president in 2000 and 2004 but large segments of the electorate concluded that they did not really understand or relate to or frankly respect their ways of life and I think that has been an issue for voters as I heard today from people who I visited in Scranton and elsewhere.”

The moderator later switched gears to focus more on issues of faith. Clinton was asked if she believed God wanted her to be president.

“I could be glib and say we will find out,” Clinton said, laughing. “I wouldn’t presume to even imagine that God is going tell me what I should do I think he has given me enough guidance.

As Clinton finished her 45-minute-long discussion, Obama was called to the stage where they greeted each other at the stage briefly. Obama brushed past Clinton in what truly looked like an uncomfortable moment between the two.

I have this vision of Hillary tumbling down a cliff and grabbing the little tree stumps on her way down, hoping that one of them will stop the fall, and keep her from crashing%u2026.can you smell the desperation wafting from Camp Clinton?

They know they have to beat Obama by over 20 points to give themselves even the most remote chance of catching him in the rest of the few remaining primary states. So they mount another desperate ploy from their hanging by a fingernail campaign, but ultimately this is much ado about nothing. ? It may cost Obama a few votes in Pennsylvania and it looks likely that Clinton will have her last hurrah by winning that state, but unless the superdelegates have a death wish for their party, he will still win the nomination; and finally Hillary will go home and take her terrible pant suits with her.

Clinton is a desperate, evil, overly-ambitious shrew who has no scruples and will stoop to anything to reach her goal. I almost pity her, but not quite because if she ever becomes president the entire nation will regret it.

She is a consummate liar without any morals. She lies at the drop of a hat. It sickens me that some people fall for her garbage. But in the end she will lose because the majority of people will see right through her.

When will everyone wake up. It''s small town America that has the final say who becomes president. The Coasts with their suburban yuppies think they do but in the end if you can''t win over small town American you are sunk. Obama has not learned that lesson.

As the rumination continues over Barack Obama''''s comments about Economically-Depressed Small Town Voters, Statements made by Bill Clinton on the SAME TOPIC --

Uttered while he was running for president in 1991 -- have now surfaced.

"The reason (George H. W. Bush''''s tactic) works so well now is that you have all these (Economically Insecure White People) who are Scared To Death,"

Clinton was quoted saying by the Los Angeles Times in September 1991.

A couple months later, Joe Klein, writing for the Sunday Times, reported that Clinton made the following remarks:

"You know, he [Bush] wants to divide us Over race. I''''m from the South. I understand this.

This quota deal they''''re gonna pull in the next election is the SAME OLD SCAM They find the most (Economically Insecure White Men) and Scare the Living Daylights out of them !

Bill Clinton isn''t running for office as far as I know. Hillary is 20 times the person Obama is. He doesn''t even have control over his own tongue. He is done, those comments about small town people clinging to guns and religion have finished him. I would like to smack him if I ever see him. I am a life long Democrat from a rural area. Go Hillary!

2008 it was alledged that....Sinclair maintains that he met Obama back in November of 1999 in an "upscale" Chicago lounge. He alleges that he and Obama went back to a limo Sinclair had rented where Obama allegedly procured illegal drugs, crack and powder cocaine for their use, and that he, Sinclair, gave the then State Representative Obama, a "***."

Sinclair goes on to allege that he and Obama met a second time, at an unknown motel in Gurnee, Illinois.
