Leahy: Clinton Should Drop Out

(AP /APTN)
Sen. Patrick Leahy wants Hillary Rodham Clinton to abandon her White House run, the Associated Press is reporting.

Leahy, a Democrat from Vermont who has endorsed Barack Obama, issued a statement today suggested that Clinton cannot win the delegates necessary to take the nomination.

"Senator Clinton has every right, but not a very good reason, to remain a candidate for as long as she wants to," he said in the statement. "As far as the delegate count and the interests of a Democratic victory in November go, there is not a very good reason for drawing this out. But as I have said before, that is a decision that only she can make."

In an interview with Vermont Public Radio that aired yesterday, the AP notes, Leahy said Clinton should withdraw and back Obama.

Obama8years: you are a typical Hitlary supporter. So shocked and surprised that your girl lost the election. You remind me of the Dem party in 2000 when Bush won FL and you all were talking about hanging chads. When the real reason you lost is because Gore couldn''t even beat idiot Bush in one debate. Now that Hillary is losing you are all trying to blame Obama. If you want to blame someone Blame your CU NNT canidate for being to dishonest and too polorizing.

OBAMA TIES TO HAMAS

The Jewish Telegraphic Agency today reports that the Wright, Jr., long-time pastor of Obama, published an op-ed piece signed by a Hamas leader. The item appeared in the July 22, 2007 edition of his Trinity United Church newspaper on the "Pastor''''s Page." Justifies attacks on Israeli civilians, and carries a supporting introduction by Mr. Wright.

Obama issued a statement strongly condemning these views of his pastor. "I certainly wasnt in church when that outrageously wrong [Hamas] piece was re-printed in the bulletin.

Obama is a long-time member of Trinity United, and his financial contributions to his church are reported to be substantial ("All told, the [Obama] couple gave $27,500 to [Trinity United] in 2005 and 2006," according to the New York Times of March 26). His moral support to the church has been unwavering. As more and more and more details of the extremist political positions of the church are revealed, Obamas response has been to distance himself from these, but also to repeat, over and over, that he didn''''t know, that he wasn''''t there.

I find it very difficult to believe that an intelligent, energetic, and very political man like Obama is perpetually ignorant about what goes on in the church to which he devotes so many of his resources. If he does get to the White House....

Besscannon,

America is better off voting for Obama. But if you want to waste your vote on a lil'' woman or OLD man, go ahead. America deserves a candidate who won''t need multiple daily naps or a candidate whose idea of foreign policy is donning an apron and baking a batch of brownies for our terrorist enemies.

Obama misleads PENNSYLVANIA VOTERS in new TV ad
False Advertising: New Obama Ad Falsely Claims He Does Not Accept Money From Oil Companies
Phil Singer, Deputy Communications Director: %u201CIt%u2019s unfortunate that Senator Obama is using false advertising to explain why he can be trusted to do something about energy prices. Senator Obama says he doesn%u2019t take campaign contributions from oil companies but the reality is that ExxonMobil, Shell and others are among his donors. I wonder if they%u2019ll fix the ad.%u201D
A new ad by Sen. Obama running in Pennsylvania falsely claims that Sen. Obama does not accept money from the oil industry. In the ad, Sen. Obama says, %u201CI%u2019m Barack Obama and I don%u2019t take money from oil companies or lobbyists and I won%u2019t let them block change anymore.%u201D
According to the Center for Responsive Politics, Sen. Obama has received over $160,000 from the oil and gas companies. Two major bundlers for his campaign %u2014 George Kaiser and Robert Cavnar %u2013 are oil company CEOs. Sen. Obama has accepted money from Exxon, Shell, BP, Chevron and just about every other major oil company. Just last month, Sen. Obama accepted another $8,400 from ExxonMobil, $12,370 from Chevron and $6,500 from British Petroleum.

PROBE DIG, make Obama reveal himself. What is behind that smug expression he shows with his head in the air when he is not flashing his pearly whites? What is the REAL obama? Don''t give our country away to someone that may just be "preforming" on center stage. What do we really know of him? What we have found out about his private life so far has not been too pretty. BEWARE of how you vote. BE VERY AWARE of who you turn our beloved country over to to run. You may vote in haste and repent in leisure for years!

Be VERY careful with your vote, fellow citizens! We have all been very unhappy with the Bush cabinet''s preformanence, full of his cronies. YOU ARE KNOWN BY THE COMPANY YOU KEEP! Mr. Obama has not been too wise in his choice of companions and associates to date. What sort of cabinet would he choose? We have a "Star" on center stage, getting extremely arrogant and full of himself. We are being given a ''preformance'' now and shown a glowing picture. What of the man behind the facade?. What are his REAL intentions? What happens when the grease paint and the smiling mask comes off? The public is only adding to and, playing into Obama''s play acting. Better beware of how you vote. BE VERY AWARE!! This is the Presidency of the United States we all love and live our lives in. Don''t give it away to a "False God."

I am so saddened by the continued sexism displayed, when saying Hillary "cried" in NH. First, she did not cry and it truly was from an exhausted woman (she was hoarse and putting her all into her campaign) who was asked the question "how do you do it". The sexism displayed in this race for the nomination (from the party to some of the voters) is distrubing, dibilitating for women, and harmful for the Democratic party.

I don''t like the way Hillary has conducted herself or ran her campaign. From the minute she started saying she would "buy" each of us with our own tax dollars, then later changing it to money for our babies to go to college. I saw her as tacky, scheming and sleazy, not to mention the ugly stench of appearing to try to buy votes. It was the beginning of a negative impression. But still, I was prepared to support her. Then came Iowa and the fake questioners they tried to plant. could the Clinton campaign get any tackier?

so then came NH with the potentially contrived crying all while send out roboemails and calls lying on Obama''s pro-choice record. Definite negative, then SC. At that moment, my support for Clinton vanished. I listened to her and Bill and the context and I decided to find out about Obama. Neither candidate is perfect or Saintly. But it appears he was TRYING to run a more decent campaign. so was McCAin. It looked like Clinton had not only studied but taken to heart every GOP and Karl Rovian tactic she could--and added a few of her own. I could go on and on...but here''s the point: No one should tell her to quit. This is her right. It MAY hurt the party or even seriously damage it. But she still has the right to run and to play ugly. This has been almost a lifelong dream for her. No one has the right to tell her to give up on her dream--but we do have an obligation to really watch her and make our choice based on how she pursues this dream.

HILLARY4US,

IF (note the BIG if) that woman becomes president I''ll don an apron and bake a batch of brownies, a cow will jump over the moon and the Easter Bunny IS real. It''s your vote and if you want to waste it on a lil'' woman whose idea of foreign policy is to coddle terrorist and bake a batch of cookies for them, well, go ahead. After PA. weighs in next month that woman''s pipe dream about a girl becoming president will be crushed. America simply needs a MAN with a strong and steady hand at the helm at this juncture in our history. It''s a simple as that--not an OLD man mind you but a MAN nevertheless.

Max00110,

Read my lips: America wasn''t ready for Geraldine Ferraro in 1984; and , America is NOT ready for lil'' missy in 2008 either. We are at war in two hotspots around the world!!!! America doesn''t need a lil'' woman donning an apron and baking a batch of brownies for terrorist enemies--America needs a MAN with a strong and steady hand. It''s as simple as that. Somewhere in NY a neglected kitchen stove is missing a woman''s touch.

tucanofulano,

Your comment that the race isn''t over until the Fat Lady sings is understandable, but as PA. prepares to vote I see the Fat Lady moving toward the microphone. Somewhere in NY a lonely kitchen stove is in need of a woman''s touch.

Senator Obama will never win the presidency of these great United States.

The greater wisdom of the majority will override the foolishness of the minority in exposing the "wolf in sheeps clothing".

Make no mistake about it, the light always shines on the darkness.

Dear Jochh,

I plainly share your point of view below. Yes Hillary cannot win this nomination. Not a Commander in Chief, she is a Day One lier.

WHY CLINTON CANNOT WIN

Hillary Clintons lack of transparency, hiding the dubious sources of her funding by refusing to release her tax returns, her repeated lies about experience (misspeaking is one thing, repeating it over and over makes it a FLAT LIE ), negative campaigning, telling outright lies about her role in NAFTA, trying to change the rules as you go along. Thinking she had the nomination in hand as soon as she said I am running for President, like she was entitled to it and her attempts to inject race into the campaign have given voters a negative albeit accurate view of her.
She is willing to try to steal the nomination from Obama knowing full well that to overturn the will of the voters would seriously hurt the Democrat Party and cost us the election.

Senator Leahy''s statement is a reflection of his parents neglect to teach him any manners. His commentary was in such bad taste.

So.

I am not sure why Senator Leahy would make such a statement or why he should concern himself with a convention which is so far in the future (for him).

Chances are the Senator may not make it to the convention, what is he, 90 years old? I think the Senator would have something better to do, like go make funeral arrangements or have a will to do. Instead his chooses to pose for pictures which confused me into thinking I was looking at the mummified remains of Ramses.

jockh,
I have seen these exact posts before in other comment sections. You must be an assigned Obama supporter who saves these posts on your computer so you can post over and over to disrupt the normal conversations of others that may not favor your candidate. Very immature. But then, so is your candidate.

PEOPLE WITH NOTHING TO HIDE DONT USUALLY HIDE !!

Why wont Hillary release her tax returns? If Hillary can loan 5 million dollars to her campaign then surely the voters have a right to know the source of her funding.

The main excuse we''''ve gotten so far is that Hillary Clinton just has too much on her plate. "I''''m a little busy right now," she said during the Ohio debate. "I hardly have time to sleep. But I will certainly work toward releasing, and we will get that done and in the public domain."
That was three weeks ago. Two weeks ago, Howard Wolfson promised the returns would be released "on or around April 15." But weren''''t the returns completed and filed a long time ago? Doesn''''t Clinton''''s accountant have time to print them out and make some copies (note to Clinton''''s accountant: many Kinko''''s are open 24 hours).

In short, it''''s well past time for Hillary Clinton to be as "vetted" as she claims to already be -- and to have this vetting done now by Democratic voters rather than later by GOP hit squads. She needs to live up to the standard she laid out for Rick Lazio, the opponent in her 2000 Senate race. At that time, she hypocritically said it was "FRANKLY DISTURBING" that Lazio was holding back on releasing his tax returns and she even sent a staffer dressed as Uncle Sam to taunt him during campaign stops.

What a difference eight years -- and tens of millions of dollars (some of them from questionable Arab deals) -- can make.
