Clinton Picks Up Murtha Endorsement

(CBS)
From CBS News' Ryan Corsaro:

MILLERSVILLE, PA. -- Hillary Clinton picked up the endorsement of Rep. John Murtha, D-Pa., Tuesday, which adds another head to her stash of superdelegates.

The congressman made his announcement to a local newspaper, the Tribune Democrat in Johnstown, Pa.

Murtha, a longtime congressman from Pennsylvania’s 12th district is one of the longest serving Democrats in Congress. His endorsement is a boost to Clinton as it comes at a point in the campaign when Obama has been gaining steady ground in picking up superdelegates, while Clinton has had trouble keeping pace.

He serves on the House Appropriations Committee and made headlines in 2006 after announcing his opposition to the Bush administration’s military strategy in the war in Iraq.

Murtha’s support for the Clinton campaign could be critical in helping her continue a lead over Senator Obama in the Pennsylvania primary, which will be held on April 22.

Meanwhile, Senator Clinton has added an early morning event tomorrow in Detroit.

Her campaign has called on Barack Obama to say publicly that he will support a “re-vote” in that state after it was stripped of its votes by the Democratic National Committee, which both Obama and Clinton agreed on initially.

Obama’s campaign has not agreed to do so.

As we have seen in this campaign, endorsements have little impact. Hillary will win PA, and eventually will lose the nomination to Obama because he will win many of the other states. He''s statistically too far ahead no matter what happens in FL and MI. She''s fought hard, but by "fighting" everything and everyone, she''s continuing to shoot herself in the foot by running a visibly divisive, "Kill the competition and to hell with the ramifications for the party" campaign. Her attitude is, "if I''m going down, I''m going to take him with me." In the process she''s destroying the Democratic party and marginalizing Obama''s chance to win. It''ll be a much tougher journey against McCain as the polls now show because of her old-style spit-in-their-face spin-strategy. Obama the uniter, sounds more useful and progressive than the prospect of Hillary the Warrior cutting the legs off of her political enemies. Who''s strategy and who''s way of being is going to get more done? This is not the time for a Samurai self-righteous approach to politics. We''ve had seven years of it from Bush.

Obama lied, his words that he is so proud of were lies.
