Katie Couric's Notebook: William F. Buckley, Jr.

William F. Buckley, Jr., was a giant of American conservatism, a writer and debater and round-the-world sailor who built a movement felt from City Halls to the White House.

He died today at the age of 82.

He was an absolute joy to listen to. I rarely agreed with him but his point of view was always worth listening to. He will be missed. He did a segment on 60 minutes where they took him to a Met''s game. That show is priceless.

William Buckley''s wit and keen intellect, his entertaining and intellectual interviewing style, and his great political insights and writings,as well as his TV show,Firing Line, are among the many things he will be remembered for. He was one of the great political thinkers of our times and will be greatly missed.
God Bless William Buckley. Our thoughts and prayers are with him and his family.
