George H.W. Bush To Back McCain

A Republican source tells CBS News that former President George H.W. Bush will endorse John McCain on Monday morning in Houston, Texas.

Mr. Bush is the latest high-profile Republican to throw his support behind McCain, who is now trying to consolidate Republican support in the face of some conservative opposition. Former bitter rival Mitt Romney endorsed McCain yesterday.

Mike Huckabee, the former Arkansas governor who has shown particular strength with Southern voters, remains in the race despite mounting pressure to pull out to ease McCain's transition to a general election fight.

As the Associated Press notes, the current president has not formally endorsed McCain, but he suggested in an interview on Sunday that the presumptive nominee had his backing. President Bush called McCain a "true conservative" but said the Arizona senator had "some convincing to do" to win over critics like Rush Limbaugh.

The election in November will be a referendum on the last 7 years. The voters are going to give a resounding answer: NO MORE!

Much better than being backed by the likes of Kerry, Reid, Dean, Pelosi, Jackson, or Sharpton.

What a circus of freaks, thugs, liars and criminals!

I cannot believe that McCain is that stupid to associate with the Bushwacker (approval rating of 25%). He does not deserve to win - he has not common sense.

Obama is going to start a civil war - southern racist is going to make a move the Union.

My guess is that Hillary will somehow manage to pull this off given her political connections with the good old boys and the system itself. Unfortuantely, this is where she will show America just how experience she has...

Bush Sr. was opposed to the war his intellectually challenged son embarked us into and he was second in command to the man responsible for the economic prosperity we have enjoyed for 12 out of the last 14 years... Sr. was suave and well spoken, while Jr. has a vocabulary that is about as extensive as that of many immigrants I''ve met. The only thing Bush dad and Jr. have in common is their last name and perhaps the fact that they both have thrown up in public places, for entirely different reasons, of course.

There is only one way Clinton can win the Republican Party ... quit the Democractic Pary and go Reformer (make Ron Paul and L. Roach White House cabinet members). But that ain''t going to happen.

The father of the Butcher of Crawford weighing in.

That''s great!

Four more years of death and destruction and neocon looting of the American treasury.

There''s a shocker! One senile republican endorsing another senile republican. This should be on the front page.

Daddy Bush supports Clemens, Daddy Bush supports McCain. Daddy Bush lied about his knowledge of Iran-Contra, Clemens lied about his use of steroids, McCain lies about his policies and so-called straight talking.

Great! One liberal endorsing another liberal. Does George H.W. Bush even understand why he lost to Clinton? Conservatives knew Bush was a liberal. He was buddies with too many liberals while he was in the White House. Then the "read my lips" thing. Conservatives voted instead for Ross Perot.

Moral of the story: If you call yourself a conservative, you better act like one. McCain calls himself one, but if elected, will govern as a liberal. America does not need that.

And McCain takes an endorsement from the little jerk who slime boated him back in 2000, claiming his adopted child was a *** of McCain''s?

Guess the "straight talk express" has run off the track, all sense of honor has vanished, in McCain''s lust to carry on the Bushit tradition.

The jerk is every bit as power-hungry as Hilly.

A good reason to vote for someone else.

sanfelz: Without Iran Contra we''d have a Communist Central America, meaning about four times the amount of people jumping the Rio Grande to get here, although this time not because they are hungry but because they are persecuted. Look at how many Cubans risk their lives in the Florida straights today... Iran Contra was the proverbial victimless crime, if you ask me. Iran Contra brought democracy to Nicaragua, a country that today boasts the highest level of personal security in the Americas... Not too shabby for old George and Reagan!

B0ludo: victimless? how is killing women and children with our tax dollars victimless? what business is it of ours anyway, they weren''t threatening us, they''re a sovereign nation. By that reasoning, the commie chinese should fund rebels here because our freedom of religion might be a threat to their national security. would the ensuing killings be victimless too?? it sure is weird how mass-media brainwashing works....

The smoke filled cigar room of the old establishment puppets are trying to rule this country as the know it alls.

They don''t like Mike Huckabee''s charm, charisma and optimistic attidude. They feel threatened that they will lose control of their power hungry system.

They walk around pretending to care about the ordinary citizen, but in reality only care about their power and money.

Don''t be tricked into thinking they are for you. They have a attitude problem, they think the common ordinary American''s are too stupid and they must control them.

The American people must rally around the charisma of Mike Huckabee. He deeply cares about ordinary Americans.

He wants to "share" his power with you, not "show" his power like the other power hungry establishments want to do.

It''s time to show the establishments that the American people can think for themselves. Let''s rally around Mike Huckabee, a honest trustworthy and humble man.

McCain has always said he opposed torture (including waterboarding) because of his experience as a POW. But when it came time for ACTION, he voted AGAINST the bill that specifically made waterboarding and other known forms of torture illegal. This man does not even stand by his own beliefs.

Oh well, at least now he is honestly showing everyone that the Bush Administration will still be running the show when he gets sworn in.

If anyone is tired of being liked to, just remember that Ron Paul''s actions and voting record support what comes out of his mouth.
