Clinton gets Rock Star Welcome in Texas

(CBS)
EL PASO, TEX. -- Hillary Clinton may have gotten swept by Barack Obama in the tonight's primaries but she received a raucous welcome in El Paso. 12,000 people filled the arena at the University of Texas at El Paso cheering loudly waiting for Clinton to take the stage. Suddenly, the lights were turned off and the sounds of U2’s “Where the Streets Have No Name” played, the crowd flashed and waved their cell phones in the air and cheering enthusiastically as the she took the stage.
It was a moment rarely seen on the Clinton campaign, as most of her crowds have been in the hundreds, not the thousands, throughout this campaign. But after eight straight losses to Senator Obama, her campaign knows that her best chance to stay in this race is to win Texas and Ohio, both delegate-rich states that vote on Mar. 4.
“I can’t think of any place to start our campaign in for Texas than right here in El Paso!” Clinton said.
“We’re going to sweep across Texas in the next three weeks, bringing our message about what we need in America the kind of president that will be required on day one to be commander-in-chief to turn the economy around. I’m tested, I’m vetted. Let's make this happen!” Clinton said to thunderous applause.
Clinton did not mention Obama’s victories in Maryland, Virginia and the District of Columbia, opting instead to continue to draw contrasts between Obama’s health care plan and hers, making the case that her plan covers all Americans while his plan leaves millions out.
As Clinton concluded her remarks, she asked the crowd to come out and “stand” for her, a reference she uses when talking about caucuses because voters physically stand to be counted when they vote. Texas has a partial caucus and primary system.
“I need you here in El Paso and across Texas to stand up for me," Clinton said as the crowd cheered. “If we stand up together, if we work together, if we fight together we will take back America and we will make history together!” Confetti poured from the ceiling as Clinton ended her remarks, with the crowd chanting her name.
Clinton is expected to campaign in south Texas tomorrow in the city of McAllen, which is near the Mexican border. She will then head to Ohio later in the day.
******We have to do more than blog, donate, and make calls. We need some more muscle to help Hillary pull thru this last 4th quarter.
Pls sign up to volunteer for Phone parties, door to door campaigning, pass out Hillary gears and, educating voters, and offer rides on voting days, etc..
These are the things the Obama supporters are doing the best. They are being very dominent in these areas.
I live in the Dallas-Fort Area and only 8 events within 100miles. WE CAN DO BETTER THAN THAT. There are too many voters to reach.
There are people who want to be activate but don''t know where to go.
LET''S MAKE IT HAPPEN. HILLARY 08!!!! http://www.hillaryclinton.com

Berger stuffed highest-classified documents, including leather-bound after-action reports on Millennium attacks, into his clothing to get them out of the National Archives before they were reviewed by the 9/11 Commission. Berger, a top John Kerry advisor, claims stealing the documents was inadvertant. After-action documents showing the Clinton "response" to al-Queda terror plans still are missing. Read more in the Washington Times Berger Investigated For Taking Classified Reports
Within hours Clinton flack catcher and John Kerry advisor Larry Davis, claiming he had not yet talked to Berger, was on CNN denying all. Anti-Bush activist and Kerry advisor Richard Clarke also stepped forward to try to defend Berger''s actions as "inadvertant," though how he would know is not clear. If she would run the country like she is running her campaign--no thanks--like Bush, she does not make enough money to bail us out from under any mess she makes and her campaign is in such disarray with apparent backbiting and ire--that it appears she inspires the same disunity in her closest supporters as she does the rest of the country. The campaign mgr got the boot and the assist followed 3 days later? Such turn over and she''s not even got any wins. Looks like her "experience" is only at crowing loudly as the ship is sinking under her and everyone else gullible enough to believe in and follow her. Oh well--there are always the super delegates. LOL

Time is short & the contest tightening. We need to rise in furious energy%u2014as we did when Anita Hill was so vilely treated in the U.S. Senate, as we did when Rosie Jiminez was butchered by an illegal abortion. We need to win, this time. Goodbye to supporting Hillary Rodham Clinton tepidly. Time to volunteer, make phone calls, send emails, donate money, argue, rally, march, shout, vote. I support Senator Clinton because I believe she will make history not only as the first US woman president, but as a great US president. - Robin Morgan
It''s not their fault. You have to put out a product, (Hillary) and sell it. You buy it if it''s something you want. It can have all the bells and whistles (Hillary''s experience, ready from day one) but if it not appealing, you just don''t buy it.
What added to the fire is when Bill lashed out against Obama and made it sound racial in tone, it made the product unattractive. Now the governor of PA said on record that the PA white residents won''t vote for a black man, all credibility went out the window.
Too bad.
Hillary Clinton IS the beef: experience, accomplishments, mastery of the issues, and best-in-class plans. I know people want change, but substance counts, and that is Hillary Clinton.
She''s already kissing up to the Texi/Mexis. I wonder where that leaves the rest of us? Sitting and waiting and waiting in the emergency room: sending our children to overcrowded schools (oh wait, my grandchildren are in a trailer in the back of the school getting mud on their shoes walking to it..)
Not to mention the next generation of those "shadow people''s children" times 10.....getting free care when the rest of us can just be damned.
And oh yes.. the water is running out where I live. Overcrowding
That''s why more and more young people are turning to Barack Obama.

Well said!
I am 60 years old and I don''t think I want anything to do with these Hillbilly Crooks either. How many out there want a pair of crooks to represent them? Everything these Hillbillies did is deceitful and self-gratifying. Words such as wisdom, compassion, or courage just do not exist in their dictionary.
The Billary Hillbillies are shameless and loveless in misleading our youths by setting the worst of examples!

THOU SHALT NOT FOOL AMERICA''S YOUTH!
-Try to squeeze out wins in TX, OH, PA
-Have her establishment supporters put pressure on Dean and DNC leadership to have Fl and MI Delegates seated as is since she was only candidate on ballot in MI. (She started last night by having her supporters on all station lobbying for FL and MI to be seated as is)
-Put pressure on superdelegates by calling in favors, offering jobs in administration if elected or have Bill threaten them.
Its not about the rules, its about winning. I will predict that if Hillary is seen as stealing the nomination, she will not win the general election because she will turn alot of voters off.
Hillary record does.
Mich and Fla where always intended to be seated so thats jut Obama trash talk to disenfranchise millions of voters that were not inspire by his largess,
the rules for Super Delegates to vote there conscious were the rules when Obama decided to get into the kitchen and demanding a affirmative alignment now is a threat to Party Unity intended to marginalize delegates not smitten by Obamas wave,
Al Sharptons claim last night that rules must change NOW for the super delegates in the middle of the game or there it would be a civil rights matter is incorrect and inflammatory seemed to be a threat not sure to whom but not surprising.
Hillary will win decisively in TX, OH and Pa I doubt that the media created exit polls will in these States will indicated that 80 percent are satisfied with their current financial circumstances.
I am a Voter and I approve of this message.
Everytime I ask this question no one ever come up with anything.
Hillary''s total accomplishment in her 35 years of experience is to keep her lips moving so you don''t notice her picking your pocket. That''s all folks!
Great post. I have also asked for the same list of accomplishments, but I''m yet to receive it.

- What? "A moment rarely seen?" Hillary''s events have always been in the thousands, unless the venue was only allowing hundreds. How can a story that should be flattering turn into something so negative? Hillary spoke near my house to an overflow crowd of 6k, the night before 7k (both events put together within hours and with overflow crowds.) Hillary in Salinas drew 12k, etc. etc. etc. Not sure where anyone got the idea she only draws hundreds, but some fact checking would be in order.

See all 34 CommentsHaving said that... Rock on, Texas! The event sounded awesome! Hillary has tons of support in Texas!
note to Craig9: if you''re truly motivated to find the answers and are not just posting to make a point, then you should look at her website, with all of the info you need. Hillary has tons of accomplishments (many of which for children.) Why do you discount co-sponsoring? That is how things get DONE in the Senate. You should be impressed that she is able to work with her colleagues on BOTH sides of the aisle to accomplish things. If you see someone that doesn''t co-sponsor, that is someone who does not play well with others. We can''t have that in the White House, not again.
