Huckabee Tries to Calculate Path to Nomination

(CBS)
From CBS News' Joy Lin:

TOPEKA, KAN. -- A reporter asked Mike Huckabee to work us through the math on how he could win the nomination.

"I was never that good in math. I'm more into miracles than math," said Huckabee. "Miracles, I understand. Math is a little harder."

Huckabee challenged a list of assumptions that factor into John McCain's status as the presumptive nominee.

"People have said well, you gotta have anywhere from 70 to 80 percent of all the rest of the delegates. That's assuming no other delegates leave the people they've supported so far, let's say the Romney delegates. It also presumes that, at the convention, people don't change their mind. There are a lot of presumptions."

Huckabee continued, "It presumes John McCain continues to have a campaign that doesn't have a flaw. But as we all know, a candidate can say one word, do one thing, have one particular moment that can end his whole career so, you know, I'm not saying I'm just driving behind him at the NASCAR race waiting for him to lose a tire. But crazier things have happened. So, the crazy thing for me would be to pull off in the pit crew, get out of the car and go take a shower and say, it's over. And then him lose a tire and I've lost the race, not because I couldn't win but because I wouldn't stay in the game and finish."

Mike Huckabee has now been officially endorsed by Dr. James Dobson, founder of Focus on the Family. BUT Huckabee is not ONLY a moral conservative...

Huckabee enjoys the endorsement of Jim Gilchrist, founder of the Minute Men border organization. Gilchrist endorsed Huckabee because of his 9-point immigration plan--a STRICT plan (which many do not know about) to clean up the illegal mess.

You can see Huckabee''s official 9-point immigration plan at:

Look at the results that Huckabee has managed with his party against him, the media against him and a limited budget, funded by middle America not big business or lobbys. I am amazed that the media is questioning his ability. Give the guy some air time and let him prove his points. Additionally, I am a moderate, independent with a voting record with more democrats than republican. This guy can produce changes, motivate people, with out spending a million dollars and he has common sense.

Mike Huckabee has always been the only candidate in this race for many of us. I have always said that not only is he an authentic conservative, he is an authentic human being.

We like Mike because he is out there fighting for us, the average everyday American.

Governor Mike Huckabee was kicked in the knees by Romney, but Mike got up and decided to keep fighting. He did not accept failure and he will fight to the end. His true American spirit has inspired us to love our Country again.

We are all going to go out and vote for Huckabee, because we are voting for ourselves, our children, and our future.

This race will be one sided from now on and Mike Huckabee will be the 44th President of the United States!

How funny is it to watch all of the conservative elites race to John %u201CMcCain-nedy%u201D for a seat at his Presidential table? First the GOP shoved liberal conservative H. Bush down our throats just to watch him to lose the White House. Then they shoved moderate constrictive W. Bush down our throats and he spent us into the poor house. Now they are shoving a liberal conservative down our throats again, John McCain, who must persuade the conservative base to fall in line with him for no reason. What a Joke! The Republican Party will not receive another dime from me or my support. The conservative elites think their base is as liberal as they are.

The liberal and conservative elites could not care less what their base thinks!
