Huckabee Insists He Still Has a Shot

(CBS)
From CBS News' Joy Lin:

KANSAS CITY, KAN. -- Just because John McCain has 700 of the 1,191 delegates needed to get the Republican nomination - and Mike Huckabee only has 163 - Huckabee says there are many reasons why it's still realistic for him to get the nomination.

"Let's say we get to the convention and [Mitt] Romney releases his [158] delegates. They can come towards me. There's also a lot of factors that can happen. Any given day, a candidate can say one word and it gets YouTubed and his campaign's done," he said, perhaps not coincidentally the day after 2006 YouTube victim, former Sen. George Allen, R-Virginia, endorsed McCain.

"The one thing -- I know -- isn't it a very complicated process for you to win? The answer is yes. But, you know, it's a very simple way to lose. I can just quit. I've spent my whole life fighting from the bottom. I've never been at the top. I've always started from the bottom. I know what its like to be the underdog. I still believe in the impossible. If I didn't, I wouldn't be in this race."

"Six months ago, would any of you here said the two guys still on his feet in February be Mike Huckabee and John McCain? John McCain's campaign had imploded, he had run out of money, he was deep in debt, he had fired his staff, it looked like well he's done. Mike Huckabee wasn't even much more of an asterisk in the polls. And everybody was talking about the next president of the United States. It was either Fred Thompson, Rudy Giuliani, Mitt Romney. It certainly wasn't me and wasn't even John McCain. Here we are."

FACT: Just because you say it is a fact, does not make it one.

FACT: It is one thing to have a COMPLAINT, it is quite another for the complaint to be a FACT.

FACT: Those who spend there time repeating like a parrot the smear campaign of half-truths, innuendos, and outright falsehoods about other candidates, must not have a candidate themselves that is worth supporting.

FACT: The Clintonian politics of personal destruction is OUT.

FACT: The rational debate on the ISSUES in IN.

FACT: You need to get a life.

To the Huckabee bashers: Abraham Lincoln was called a baboon when he was running for President by the people who were afraid he would do something about slavery. What are you afraid of?

One thing is for sure, whoever gets the nomination will have a truly amazing American story to tell.

Huckabee has inspired me to become a delegate to Michigan''s State Convention next weekend. I have never been involved in politics before, but I will do what I can to encourage the forty-five uncommitted Romney delegates to support Huckabee.

If the media sources being used to recite "facts" are the same ones trying to choose the candidates for us, I say give me an OPINION any day! Remember that very few media sources today give you facts---most are trying to shape public opinion and they are very effective at it.

tangorooster: I agree that it''s been an uphill slog for the Republican candidates. I sure would like to see Huckabee pull this out---it''s inspiring to see someone with his optimism and COMMON SENSE.

Mike Huckabee is not perfect-no one is! He however, has great common sense, is very articulate, has over 10 years running a state government. Is open to new ideas, our secure border, our federal income tax system-50 years outdated! He is a real Christian-accepts the sacrifice of Jesus Christ on the cross-believes God created the world-as of course He did!!Isn''t it insanity to believe the universe and all its elements came from nowhere! A president has to be a great leader and rely on others for expertise-no president is an expert on all fronts. I want one who prays for guidance from God and listens for answers!
From a born again-spirit filled-tongue talking- Science teacher (who will never teach evolution to our precious children-evolution is a blasphemous lie straight from HELL and our nations "state mandated religion"-talk about separation of church and state in the great state of Alabama-Mike Huckabee is in my prayers!!! Mike Huckabee has had the most solid pro-life and pro-family records as a governor in AR. I like his humor and his humble campaign.

I also like the FairTax idea. Many companies move abroad to save tax dollars and lower labor cost. FairTax will bring jobs back to America as corporations won''t pay income taxes and payroll taxes. Americans will be richer because the actual take-home pay is the gross pay. Merchandises will NOT be more expensive because of lower cost for manufacturing in the US. The only thing that will cost more is the imports. This is, again, very good for made-in-USA products to compete.

CPA''s don''t need to worry about loosing their jobs. The corporations still need accountants to show balance sheet and investors are still looking for profitable companies to invest. The 20,000 IRS workers can be retrained and contribute to the private sectors. And, with FairTax, we are going to get very busy as the economy will grow like never before.

We now have a real chance to make history and get rid of IRS once for all, by making taxing on income unconstitutional. Consumption tax makes sense.

We don''t have much time left. Please support Huckabee financially. Please use this link a href="https://www.mikehuckabee.com/?FuseAction=Contribute.Home&r=16134" https://www.mikehuckabee.com/?FuseAction=Contribute.Home&r=16134 /a

It may be impossible for Huckabee to win the nomination (get the 1191 delegate majority), but its certainly not impossible for him to stop McCain from getting that majority. As far as I understand it, if neither have the majority it goes to a vote from scratch at the convention until one of them does have the majority. In that scenario with the delegates having a "second chance" to vote I think Huckabee''s chances are very good.

Mike Huckabee can win - it is possible! He can also force it into a brokered convention which is what Ronald Reagan did in 1976 (they didn''t like him either). That is probably what is going to happen on the Dem side too. People are tired of politics as usual.

Mike Huckabee is a true underdog but he is our Seabiscuit and Cinderalla Man combined.
GO MIKE GO!!! WE BELIEVE!!!!!!

Mike Huckabee has the most executive experience of any candidate running. He was re-elected Governor of Arkansas until his term limits expired. He was their Lt. Governor prior to that. He was voted one of the Best Five Governors in America by Time Magazine. He is the best communicator since Ronald Reagan. Mike Huckabee is for real and he is authentic!

Though Governor Huckabee is a strong Christian, his supporters also rally around him for myriad other reasons. His tough stand on illegal immigration and support of the FairTax are, for instance, extremely appealing to me. I believe, along with many others, that he has the best plan to restore and rejuvenate this country''s economy.
His record as Governor of Arkansas demonstrates that he is an effective conservative leader, and in fact, qualifies him through executive experience more than any other candidate in this race, bar none.
He is an excellent, articulate orator, who possesses communication skills unseen in the Republican party since Ronald Reagan.
He is a man of great integrity, who stands true to his convictions regardless of the political climate.
He sees the need to address the crumbling infrastructure of our great country. No one else seems to talk about that much, but it''s important for a wide variety of reasons.
Plus, he''s a really neat guy with a sense of humor and quick wit.
Since the media will not provide you with an unbiased view of Mike Huckabee and what he stands for, I''d ask that you explore his views on this website, go to www.fairtax.org, and finally, go to youtube.com and watch some clips of him in action. I feel sure you''ll be convinced to join this effort, which represents a true grassroots movement of the kind that is America at its best!

Mike Huckabee can still win the way George Washington won the Revolutionary War, by not losing long enough for circumstances to change. He needs to win just enough delegates to keep McCain from winning the nomination before the convention. Then it will be a matter of the Republicans who don''t want to lose the White House coming to their senses and nominating the only man who can out-debate Obama or Hillary.

It is time for Huckabee to pack his bags and go home. He%u2019s never really had a solid platform. We know, he stands for adjusting the constitution to be more evangelical and we know he stands for Fair Tax. He is socially conservative, moderate to liberal on economics, and inexperienced on foreign affairs. But, he has played his spoiler role well and it is time for him to bow out before he loses all credibility.

I wish him well in his other endeavors.

Talk about a flip flop, Huckabee has done a 180 degree turn on illegal immigration.

Read the following excerpt from wikipedia%u2019s article on him:
[In opening remarks among Hispanic civil rights leaders at a LULAC convention, Huckabee said the nation will need to address the concerns of the Hispanic community because of its growing influence and population base. %u201CPretty soon, Southern white guys like me may be in the minority,%u201D Huckabee said jokingly as the crowd roared in laughter. He told the LULAC delegates that their presence in the state%u2019s capital city was very important because Arkansas has one of the fastest growing Hispanic populations in the nation. %u201CYour gathering is so very significant for our state,%u201D Huckabee said.[98] Roy Beck, whose 1.5 million member organization NumbersUSA played a major role in defeating the Senate immigration bill, calls Huckabee %u201Can absolute disaster as governor of Arkansas%u2026 Every time there was any enforcement in his state, he took the side of the illegal aliens.%u201D Huckabee responded by saying if voters are looking for the toughest guy on immigration, he%u2019s not their man.] from {Wikipedia search: Mike Huckabee}.

Mike Huckabee and this race reminds me of the two women that came to Solomon to decide who was the real mother. As you recall Solomon pulled out his sword and threatened to divide the baby in half and give half to each woman. The real mother agreed to give the baby to the other woman.
Mitt Romney is like the real mother. He forgo his position to help conservatives or what is left of the party.

People making comments here should give consideration that 27 states, districts, and territories have not yet voted. Do you think maybe they should be given an opportunity to take part in the election process .... or I guess you all have just decided for them.

Romney did not pull out of the race because he wanted to help the Republican party conservatives, he pulled out because he spent over 35 million dollars out of his own pocket and could not pull a single state out of the south on Super Tuesday. It was a reality check.

From CNN Website
"Loser: Mitt Romney
The Super Tuesday primaries across the United States offered prizes to almost all of the candidates -- only one man was left looking short-changed. Mitt Romney, the Mormon tycoon who has invested millions of his own money running for president, was left in the unenviable position of denying he would drop out. Romney did win his home state, Massachusetts, the heavily Mormon state of Utah and a few others. But after personally spending a reported $35 million, he was the clear laggard in the three-man Republican race behind Senator John McCain and former governor Mike Huckabee."

Huckabee is the best choice for President. I''m proud to be supporting him and I pray that everyone goes to his website and discovers the details on where he stands on issues and the details of his plan for our future. www.mikehuckabee.com
also, my 2 yr old helped me make a 9 second Huckabee commercial see it here

It''s not too late!! Don''t listen to the media''s negativity! They are dis-satisfied because they couldn''t sell us Romney! They tried to make Ron Paul look like a fool and gave no press to Huckabee. Conservatives have discovered that Huckabee is and always has been the conservative of choice.

Vote your true convictions, folks, and don''t let the media decide this race. Let the voice that is heard through your vote, truly be your voice, and not an echoing of media sentiments. For me, personally, I''m voting for Huckabee, but in November, I''ll support whoever wins the nomination. If the democrats win, they will appoint liberal, activist judges who legislate from the bench, and those judges will be with us much longer than the president. Don''t buy into the rhetoric of "surviving" four years of a democrat presidency. The judges they appoint will be with us longer than four years. It is important that we stand together in November, regardless of which republican nominee wins, but the primary gives us each a chance to state our true preference.

It''s amazing to read these posts. Those who support hot-headed McCain are just like him. They call Huckabee names like "bigot." Their words are full of hatred. You read those supporting Huckabee and the posts are full of facts about their candidate and they speak the truth in love, not with name calling and put downs. I believe I''m on the right side with Huck even if we lose.

Mike Huckabee has always been the only candidate in this race for many of us. I have always said that not only is he an authentic conservative, he is an authentic human being.

We like Mike because he is out there fighting for us, the average everyday American.

Governor Mike Huckabee was kicked in the knees by Romney, but Mike got up and decided to keep fighting. He did not accept failure and he will fight to the end. His true American spirit has inspired us to love our Country again.

We are all going to go out and vote for Huckabee, because we are voting for ourselves, our children, and our future.

This race will be one sided from now on and Mike Huckabee will be the 44th President of the United States!
