Huckabee Says President Should Have Sense of Humor

(CBS)
From CBS News' Joy Lin:

SPRINGFIELD, MO. -- Mike Huckabee joked Mitt Romney didn't hit "political puberty" until he was 60. Romney heard that and said Huckabee is always "good for a good chuckle" but "the presidency’s more serious than that comment suggests."

Huckabee's response to reporters: "[Romney] would have never have liked Ronald Reagan 'cause Ronald Reagan had a great sense of humor and he used it to bring a sense of levity to the seriousness of the job."

"And that's another reason why Mike Huckabee ought to be the nominee. Because if people are looking for somebody in the mold of a true leader, they want somebody who takes God seriously but doesn't take themselves so seriously. That's what a sense of humor does. And maybe that's an affirmation: Mitt Romney said a few years ago that he wasn't part of that Reagan-Bush thing. I guess that means he didn't care a whole lot about Ronald Reagan's humor or his policies, either one."

Huckabee shows a lack of class by constantly attacking Romney in jr. high tones. Also, if he was really in this to win, he''d be going after McCain, the front runner. He''s in this to take Romney down for McCain and it is a disgrace. He''d do values voters a favor by bowing out and endorsing Romney.

Nancy_naive with the emphasis on niave. Honey Huckabee''s religion is Christianity which our constitution was based on! They are not in conflict. The serving 2 masters doesn''t even come close to the meaning you are trying to give it. If you really care about our country more than you hate Christians then go to Mike''s web site and honestly look at his stance on issues then come to an informative conclusion, not a decision based on bigotry or uninformed emotion. By the way you just described Mike Huckabee when you listed the things you want in a president. I don''t mean to sound too harsh but the misinformation just drives me crazy when this is such an important decision for our country.

My Arkansas born and raised Daddy alway told me, %u201CIts a good life if you don%u2019t weaken%u201D. Now is the time not to weaken for Mike Huckabee! He needs our money, our voices, and our time until Feb. 5th. Let%u2019s take back the White House for America, and say no to more of the same with John McCain or Romney!

I spent a lot of time researching Mike Huckabee before supporting him and I have to say the more I know about him, the more impressed I am.

He is the only person running who can lift this country up. When he was Governor of Arkansas his state took in many Hurricane Katrina victims and he made sure they were all treated with dignity and respect. He told the volunteers to make sure they didn''t get caught up in paperwork...that it was important to treat each person as a human being of value.

Contrast the above with this video of Mitt Romney talking to a man in a wheelchair with Muscular Dystrophy. He asks Romney about medical marijuana. Romney is so cold to this poor man---he completely discounts him.

Mitt Romney makes my blood turn cold. There is something so sinister and wicked about him. If, God forbid he is the nominee, I will not vote for him no matter what.

To Nancy Naive who posted the following:

"People who take God seriously cannot take the Constitution seriously. They believe the Bible when it says a man cannot have two masters.Huckabee would vote his religion over our laws EVERYTIME!"

Nancy, with all due respect, our constitution and our laws are based on the Bible and Judeo Christian values. The fact that a President is a true Christian like Mike Huckabee means he has a real moral compass and convictions. This is why Reagan was a good President and why Abraham Lincoln was a good President. We have to have a moral man of conviction in the presidency or we are in big trouble.

Let me ask you this? Would you rather have a man in office who is humble, believes in God and has high standards or a man like Mitt Romney whose Mormon religion teaches that he himself is becoming a god. Mitt Romney took an oath as a Mormon to uphold Mormon beliefs over anything else--his allegiance is to the Mormon church over the constitution. If you don''t believe me, look it up.

No wonder he has no convictions, he believes that lying to become President is ok, deception is ok. He is exactly what is wrong with our country---people who believe the ends always justify the means.

This quality in a potential President is very frightening to me.

There is ONE conservative candidate left in this race and his name is Mike Huckabee. He also happens to be the most gifted candidate on either side of the race as demonstrated once again in the latest debate. Don''t let the Romney people OR the liberal media OR the NOT REALLY socially conservative talk radio hosts tell you that a vote for this great man is a "wasted" vote. What would be a waste and a crime would be letting this moment in our nation''s history PASS without throwing in your lot with this principled, passionate man!

Mitt Romney is the favorite of the rich corporations. If he were to become President, however, he would have no clue about how to govern. Massachusetts was 47th nationally during his one unsuccessful term as governor there.

Mike Huckabee was voted one of the 5 best governors in America and is beloved by the people of his state. He has great ideas about what America needs, starting with the replacement of the Internal Revenue Service with a consumption tax.

He is in the same position Abe Lincoln was during the election of 1860. America was in trouble, and nobody thought he could win because he was not favored by the establishment. This time the problem is not the south, however, it is that power and wealth are too concentrated in the hands of the few. Huckabee comes from the people and identifies with them, just as Lincoln did. I believe that he can have the same historic effect on this country if the people will rise up and help him.

Please visit his website at MikeHuckabee.com and then join in restoring the greatness of the United States of America, the ideals on which it was founded.

Any political campaign is 50% perception. How does a candidate present him or herself to the electorate? We want to be able to identify with the candidate.

When a candidate comes along who can present his or her position with clarity and articulation, and, then lace the presentation with humorous quips and anecdotes, defensive walls are broken down and we, the listeners and viewers, are more receptive to that candidate''s message.

Ronald Reagan had that gift of relating to folks from all socio-economic walks of life and he presented himself as someone who came from us rather than to us. This is Mike Huckabee''s message, not only to Republicans, but also to the indpendents. Yes, he wants to unite us, not divide us and he will reach out to the Democrats, but he will never compromise his moral values and principles.

America desperately needs a man of Mike Huckabee''s character and communication skills in Washington, D.C., more now than ever before.

Huckabee is the best candidate running of all the candidates in either Party -- and that''s no joke! :o)

Just go to his Web site and look where he stands on the ISSUES. His record is solid. His principles are solid. He is intelligent, articulate, and an authenticate conservative.

He cares deeply about the Constitution, our Nation, and God. So do I. I''m voting for Mike Huckabee!

According to Rasmussen''s daily presidential tracking poll, MIKE HUCKABEE HAS GAINED 5% NATIONALLY just in the past five days. In that same time, Romney has lost ground.

Mike Huckabee has the momentum--and just in time for Tsunami Tuesday.

I agree. Every true leader I have known, had a sense of humor.

My battalion C.O. used to call us his "tigers" Coming from a Marine Corps Colonel, that was an honor. He used to joke with us and always smile and tell us we were doing a perfect job. And that he appreciated us.

Because of him, we had the best battalion in the entire 1st Marine Division. He inspired us to work better, and fight harder.

I have also had those leaders that were cocky, unappreciative, and demeaning. We were always miserable. We always wanted to quit.

Mike Huckabee is authentic and genuine. Mike will be one of the best Presidents in American history.

I just gave another 100 bucks, I challenge everyone to give anything they can afford. This is a battle that belongs to all of us.

One a Huckabee supporter, always a Huckabee supporter!

I agree that a sense of humor is extremely important, especially when facing critical circumstances. What disturbs me is the number of people who have sold-out their own convictions and are planning to vote according to the media''s propaganda rather than according to their original intent. Don''t let the media decide this election, and don''t be a Judas, betraying the candidate that you know in your heart is the candidate with the most integrity.

I could give a hoot if a candidate "takes God seriously." What I want is a president that takes the constitution seriously, that takes the lives of our brave soldiers seriously, that takes the enviornment seriously, that takes the middle class seriously.
Whether he/she takes God seriously or not does not affect me one whit.

Mike, keep hammering away at Romney, he''s on his knees begging for mercy as of late. He only ran Republican because he thought he had a chance. If you ask me he would be better than Hilary of Obama, but he''s a fluke fighting with McCain and Huckabee. Truly, Huck is not so far behind as people want to assume. The media hates him, but that is not stopping him.
Remember Bush. Oh, wait? According to the polls he couldn''t have possibly won the second time. HAHA. He won more resoundingly than the first time. Even today, the poll says that 40 percent of America still agrees with him. Hmm...Something fishy going on..
GO HUCK!
