Giuliani: I'm the Only One That Would Provide Florida Relief

(CBS)
From CBS News' Ryan Corsaro:

MIAMI -- Rudy Giuliani says that a vote for opponents John McCain and Mitt Romney will meaning voting to go without a National Catastrophic Relief Fund.

Speaking outside of a rally of over a hundred Cuban Americans, Giuliani told reporters, “I am for the National Catastrophic Fund. John McCain is against the National Catastrophic Fund and Mitt Romney seems to be for it and against it, so it’s hard to know what his position is.”

At a time when undecided voters in Florida are coming to a decision on which candidate they favor, Giuliani is focusing on the needs of those affected by the state’s rising insurance costs to keep their homes.

“This is a very important issue for Florida,” said Giuliani. “They can’t get insurance for their homes, because it’s too expensive.”

“We’re not talking about hundreds of people, we’re talking about thousands, hundreds of thousands of people who literally, if they can, are going to have to move out of their house. There is a way to solve this, with a federal backstop – and it will not cost the government any more money.”

Giuliani also drove the contrast between himself and his GOP rivals by pointing out differences on an economic level.

“There’s a big difference on taxes also,” said Giuliani. “John McCain voted against the Bush tax cuts. Mitt Romney did not reduce taxes when he was governor of Massachusetts. And he did not embrace the Bush tax cuts. He didn’t oppose them, he didn’t support them.”

“I supported them because I did them before. And when you look at our tax programs, my tax program gives the biggest tax relief and has already been introduced into Congress as a piece of legislation.”

“And it’s not that we don’t all agree on lowering taxes, I think all three of us agree on lowering taxes, I think I just have the best record and the boldest program to do it.”

Trying to overcome his struggles in recent polls, Giuliani referred to himself in last night’s Republican debate as an underdog like his home team, the New York Giants, who won a spot in the upcoming Super Bowl. Asked if the underdog term meant he wasn’t expecting a win on Tuesday, Giuliani replied, “Well, underdogs win!”

”The Giants were underdogs and they won. I thought the connection with the Giants was a cute one. It was more of a joke than an in-depth serious comment.”

We are with Governor Mike Huckabee, he is our choice. We will never change our mind. Romney is buying the media and trying to buy America.

A lot of the good comments are paid bloggers from the Romney camp.

A lot of us seen on the news, the Mitt Romney "WAR ROOM" Mitt Romney has paid bloggers to monitor every news article and make comments. There are massive amounts of flat monitors papering the wall and rows of young men sitting behind computers monitoring every single media report put out.

90% of the good comments you are seeing are paid by Romney, the other 10% are those dumb enough to be fooled by him.

So bloggers, you sit there in your white shirts, red ties, and gold Mormon name badges and say whatever you are paid to say. But Mitt Romney CAN NOT buy America. We do not like Mitt Romney and we are not getting paid to say that. So get on YOUR skinny little 10 speed bikes and peddle yourselves off the map of History.

Mitt answered the insurance problem handily in the debate last night, a fact which Rudy is quick to dispel. Mitt''s idea (which he outlined last night) is to promote a plan which pools the premium money of all those in the hurricane states, buying private catastrophic policies. Iowa would not be required to support the insurance pool, only the states in the affected area. It would work beautifully, just like the private health care plan Mitt successfully passed in Massachusettes. In Rudy''s plan, each of the 50 states would be required to participate! Mitt is big on responsibility....if you live in a hurricane state, you need to be prepared to pay for your insurance!

Romney''s appeal to conservatives--here are the issues:

1. His stance on illegal immigration. McCain attempted to grant amnesty.

2. His stance on the economy. Mitt outclasses every candidate on both sides and will provide the middle class with tax cuts, and slash the ridiculous corporate taxes stifling business growth. McCain is a joke on this issue and admitted he does not understand the economy.

3. His stance on energy independence. Mitt understands the substantial investment required to develop clean, efficient energy resources but he is not going to punish the US by not drilling oil and refining gas--oil production in Alaska will not only be key to reduce gas prices for every American citizen, but will further boost the economy by providing an abundance of well-paying jobs. Remember the 80''s? Again, McCain is an ignorant liberal on this issue.

Romney will handily defeat the Clintons in 08''

"The success [in Iraq] is due to the blood and the courage of our servicemen and women... not to General Hillary Clinton"
