Signs Of Life At Romney’s Michigan Rallies

(CBS)
From CBS News' Scott Conroy:

ST. JOSEPH, MICH. -- His campaign may be on the ropes, but Mitt Romney was clearly feeding off of the enthusiastic crowds he drew in stops across Michigan today. Though there were no more than a few hundred people at any one of his events, Romney was received like a favorite son in Traverse City and St. Joseph, where rallies there drew some of the more boisterous crowds that Romney has seen in weeks.

The former Massachusetts governor, himself a Michigan native, clearly fed off the strong reception he received from the crowd of about 300 at the Berrien County Republicans event in St. Joseph tonight, where he gave his optimistic vision even more prominence than he usually does.

“Jimmy Carter had all sorts of concerns about America and the American spirit and so forth, and then Ronald Reagan came along and said we’re the greatest nation on earth,” Romney said. “We’re the greatest people on earth. We’re a good people. We’re a shining city on a hill. He lifted our eyes. He inspired us. He gave us optimism again. That’s the first thing a president’s got to do, which is to remind the American people that we don’t apologize for who we are. We stand for greatness and we always will.”

Romney continued to call for a reexamination of energy efficiency standards, which he said have unfairly hurt the automobile industry in the state.

“If we’re going to have caps, for instance, on CO2, it shouldn’t just be America with the burden being placed on American jobs and American employers—it should be global,” Romney said. “And we’re not gonna say we’re gonna put pressures here on Michigan to make it hard to manufacture cars or anything else for that matter in America and then say to the Chinese, ‘Oh, you just go ahead and build a new coal power plant every week.’"

Go Romney !!! It is about time that someone focuses on the United States economy instead of worrying about everybody else such as Iraq, Afghanistan, peace in the Middle East, etc. So often Presidents and candidates focus on the easier international issues instead of focusing on issues at home. Mitt has the most ideas to fix our economy, reduce dependence on foreign oil, reduce out debt, affordable healthcare, lower taxes, etc.

I agree John,

Romney is the only candidate that actually knows how to work the U.S. economy. McCain only knows how to vote for a living. He calls it "fighting" for stuff, but I still call it voting. Romney had to actually work for a living. Romney eats stress for breakfast and gold comes out the other end!

ATTA BOY!!! Romney owns McCain! Mitt Romney is the most qualified for the job, he''s a financial and managerial genius. He''s not a political insider, he is success and everything he touches turns to gold. If everyone would just wake up, stop listening to spinning media it would be obvious. After a short study at the man''s resume any one can see how it matches perfectly with our country needs right now!

Nice to hear Romney pointing out the fact that China is as much at fault for CO2 emmisions as the US.
I have high hopes for his campaign as he''s spoken about building nuclear power plants and other alternative power sources for the US. It''d be great if the French were''nt the only people benefiting from this energy source!

Here''s what we found out in NH;

Mitt lies about his resume
Mitt says he is a hunter, he isn%u2019t.
Mitt said he didn%u2019t lie, he did.
Mitt says he saw MLK, he didn%u2019t.
He said he used the word %u201Csaw%u201D figuratively, he didn%u2019t.
Mitt said he had the endorsement of the NRA, he didn%u2019t.
After exposed he said he kinda did, he didn%u2019t.
There is a length limit so I will stop here.

Mitt distorts what the others say.
Mitt said the McCain plan would give Social Security benefits to illegals, it doesn%u2019t.
Mitt says the McCain immigration position is horrid but before he was running for president said it was reasonable.
When running for governor Mitt supported Campaign finance reform. He even got John McCain to come out and endorse him (there is video). Not of course McCain is the devil for this.
He does the same and worse to Huck.

Mitt%u2019s positions change based on the election.
When running in MA he supports abortion, *** more than Ted Kennedy, gun control, campaign finance control, what everyone now is calling amnesty for illegals and more. Otherwise he would never have been Governor of MA.

All this changed in 2005, half way through his only term as Governor when he started running for President. In 3 years he went from more liberal than Ted Kennedy to more conservative than Rush.

To top it off is the phoniness of Mitt caring about auto workers. He made his fortune (like growing up in the house of an auto exec is starting at the bottom) building a company called Bain. This is a company that makes money buying and selling other companies. They don%u2019t actually build anything. They improve the balance sheet by firing everyone, selling the assets and dumping the company on some other sucker. (Pump and dump)

The fact is that the GOP %u201Cestablishment%u201D cooked up a toxic stew like they have in the past. The NH voters took a taste and spit it right back at them. Just next time the "true" conservatives, who ever they are, want to play Frankenstein sewing all the radical right parts together to make a monster in their image, don''t forget a soul. This one is truly not even aware when he lies and can''t imagine why people have a problem with that. Truly insight impaired.

The morning after Mitt went down in flames here, the morning AM talkshow (Howie Carr) said "A grateful nation breathes another sigh of relief".

McCain''s lifetime voting record in Congress is rated a solid 82 percent by the American Conservative Union. He''s a fierce fiscal conservative, unwaveringly pro-life on abortion issues, staunchly free-market on trade and economic matters, favors making the Bush tax cuts permanent, supports nuclear power as a clean-energy alternative, champions school choice as the vital lever for education reform, advocates smaller and more accountable government, and, of course, is a lifelong proponent of a strong national defense and an assertive foreign policy.

The "real conservatives" should realize that McCain is their best chance at keeping the http://www.shortnews.com/start.cfm?id=67619 WH and they should buck up and support him.

McCain, Romney, Thompson, Guiliani, Paul = 2 years
Huckabee = Only 3 weeks

That''s how long it would take you to save up for a brand new 60^ LCD / Plasma Flat Screen TV with reclining chair and large cup holder for your nice cold beverage if they were President.

Huckabee is the ONLY one willing to scrap the IRS red tape and switch to the Fair tax. The Fair tax allows you to keep 100% of your paycheck, not 70% you keep of it now. If you make say $75,000 year then your paycheck rises by $325 per week and in ONLY 3 weeks you can buy that awesome 60" LCD / Plasma TV to watch your favorite TV shows (Super Bowl, World Series, World Championship, Indianpolis 500, Olympics, etc...)

If you do not mind flushing an extra $325 every week down the toliet, then go ahead and vote for McCain, Romney, Thompson, Guiliani and Paul want to keep the current tax system. That gives them far less pressure to be try to run a lean government.

The Fair Tax can ONLY happen if you and your friends and family vote for Huckabee. He is the ONLY presidentail candidate commiting to this for the American people. Would you rather flush $325 every week down the toliet or would you rather save that up in ONLY 3 weeks and get that brand new 60" LCD / Plasma high definition TV with recliner and cup holder! :)

Vote for McCain, Romney, Thompson, Guiliani and Paul if you want to become Poorer.

VOTE FOR HUCKABEE if you want to become Richer!!!

"The news media and Republican Party bigwigs may be happy with a John McCain candidacy for President of the United States come this November, but a lot of law enforcement officers will probably sit out election day if McCain is the GOP presidential candidate."

Amnesty John
If this is straight talk, who needs lies?

By Mark Krikorian

"In Saturday%u2019s debate, John McCain called anyone accusing him of supporting amnesty a %u201Cliar.%u201D Actually, he wasn%u2019t bold enough to make the accusation directly, instead cravenly quoting his most notable supporter: %u201CJoe Lieberman said, John McCain has never supported amnesty, and anybody says that he does is a liar, is lying.%u201D

Since McCain has accused me (among others) of lying, let%u2019s see where the real deception is.

The perennial controversy over what to call McCain%u2019s amnesty is silly. Every program in the world that has allowed illegal immigrants to stay has been called an %u201Camnesty.%u201D McCain himself called it %u201Camnesty%u201D as recently as May 2003, when he told the Tucson Citizen %u201CI think we can set up a program where amnesty is extended to a certain number of people who are eligible %u2026 Amnesty has to be an important part ...%u201D But once the focus-group results were in, %u201Camnesty%u201D became a four-letter word."

The Real McCain Record
Obstacles in the way of conservative support.

January 11, 2008 12:00 PM
By Mark R. Levin

"There%u2019s a reason some of John McCain''s conservative supporters avoid discussing his record. They want to talk about his personal story, his position on the surge, his supposed electability. But whenever the rest of his career comes up, the knee-jerk reply is to characterize the inquiries as attacks.

The McCain domestic record is a disaster. To say he fought spending, most particularly earmarks, is to nibble around the edges and miss the heart of the matter. For starters, consider:"

John McCain is corrupt!! Google the Keating Five Scandals that involved McCain, his wife, and his wife''s family!!!

John McCain voted YES to give illegals social securty benefits---but voted NO (twice) to tax cuts for US citizens.

John McCain said that nothing can be done to save Michigan''s jobs and economy----Romney has pledged to save Michigan''s jobs and economy. Romney has past business successes to prove that he can save Michigan''s jobs and economy---as he saved many businesses that were going under!!!

Question:
Would you like to own a brand new high definition 60" LCD / Plasma TV with reclining chair with large cup holder for your cold beverage of your choice?

Answer:
Huckabee! He is the ONLY candidate out of the presidential field willing to implement the "Fair-Tax" system.

Look at your paycheck and see how much they are taking out of your paycheck for taxes... go ahead go look at it now.

Now take the cost of a brand new 60" LCD / Plasma high def TV and reclining chair (& cup holder) and divide that number by how much taxes they are taking out.

Example:
$3,000 (TV cost, chair) / $325 tax holding each week = 8 weeks

That''''s it, only 8 weeks to get this great deal!!!

But if you vote for any other candidate it will take years to save up for this! Say you put away $10 each week, well that''''s 4 years!

So if you want to become poorer then vote for McCain, Romney, Thompson, Guiliani, Paul, Clinton, Obama, Edwards..... but if you want to become richer vote for Huckabee!
